Photosynthetic activity is established during chloroplast biogenesis. In this study we used 680 nm red light to overexcite Photosystem II and disrupt photosynthesis in two conditional mutants (var2 and abc1k1) which reversibly arrested chloroplast biogenesis. During biogenesis, chloroplasts import most proteins associated with photosynthesis.

This article explores the potential iatrogenic impact of institutional care on patients suffering from anorexia nervosa, based on a perspective drawn from the human and social sciences. In particular, it highlights the social mechanisms - such as the collision of intentions, pathological emulation, stigmatization and identity dedifferentiation - that can aggravate pathology in the hospital setting. Four recommendations are put forward for rethinking care, favoring a more holistic and less iatrogenic approach.

In shooting incident reconstructions, forensic examiners usually deal with scenes involving short-range trajectories, typically ≤30 m. In situations such as this, a linear trajectory reconstruction model is appropriate. However, a forensic expert can also be asked to estimate a shooter's position by reconstructing a long-range trajectory where the bullet's path becomes arced as a result of gravity and the greater time in flight.

Mutations can be beneficial by bringing innovation to their bearer, allowing them to adapt to environmental change. These mutations are typically unpredictable since they respond to an unforeseen change in the environment. However, mutations can also be beneficial because they are simply restoring a state of higher fitness that was lost due to genetic drift in a stable environment.

Bacterial spores pose significant risks to human health, yet the inactivation of spores is challenging due to their unique structures and chemical compositions. This study investigated the synergistic effect between surfactants and chlorine on the inactivation kinetics of Bacillus subtilis spores. Two surfactants, cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) and cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTMA) were selected to investigate chlorine disinfection in absence and presence of surfactants.

Nurse practitioners (NPs) have existed internationally for several decades, with scientific literature demonstrating improved access to care, patient safety, and well-being. To address the sociodemographic challenges of public health and the shortage of healthcare professionals, the Canton of Vaud was the first in Switzerland to develop a legal framework that defines the responsibilities and requirements of the NP role in order to integrate them into the healthcare system. The integration of NPs into the hospital setting has shown promising results.
