Introduction: The choice of medical specialization is influenced by various factors, including personal, educational, and interpersonal aspects. However, stereotypes and social representations (SRs) can also play a significant role in biasing the choice of a particular medical specialty. The aim of this study is to describe and understand the social representation (SR) of French Neurologist among medical peers, and factors explaining stereotypes about neurology.

The enhancement of optical waves through perforated plates has received particular attention over the past two decades. This phenomenon can occur due to two distinct and independent mechanisms, namely, nanoscale enhanced optical transmission and micron-scale Fabry-Perot resonance. The aim of the present paper is to shed light on the coupling potential between two neighboring slots filled with two different materials with contrasting physical properties (air and silicon, for example).

Three strains marketed as bioprotection yeasts were studied to compare their antimicrobial effect on a mixture of two yeast strains in synthetic must at 12 °C, mimicking pre-fermentative maceration by combining different approaches. The growth of the different strains was monitored, their nitrogen and oxygen requirements were characterised, and their metabolomic footprint in single and co-cultures studied. Only the strain and one strains colonised the must and induced the rapid decline of .

Objectives: We examine age-related differences in recollection and test the impact of words with high vs low sensory experience ratings (SER) in older and younger adults. We expected that the recollection of words with high SER would be similar in older and young adults, as they depend on knowledge, unlike recollection of words with a low SER, which would depend on executive functions.
Methods: We manipulated the sensory experience of words (high vs.

The fabrication of structured zeolite adsorbents through photopolymerization-based 3D printing which offers a solution to the limitations of conventional shaping techniques has been demonstrated but many parameters still need to be optimized. In this study, we studied the influence of zeolite compensation cations on the photopolymerization and the composite's properties. Modified zeolites (LTA 4 A and FAU 13X exchanged with K , Li , Sr , Ca or Mg ) were incorporated in PEGDA with BDMK as photoinitiator, and the formulation was cured under mild conditions (LED@405 nm, room temperature, under air).

Glutathione transferases (GST) are detoxification enzymes that conjugate glutathione to a wide array of molecules. In the honey bee Apis mellifera, AmGSTD1 is the sole member of the delta class of GSTs, with expression in antennae. Here, we structurally and biochemically characterized AmGSTD1 to elucidate its function.

To cope with environmental stresses, bacteria have developed different strategies, including the production of small heat shock proteins (sHSP). All sHSPs are described for their role as molecular chaperones. Some of them, like the Lo18 protein synthesized by Oenococcus oeni, also have the particularity of acting as a lipochaperon to maintain membrane fluidity in its optimal state following cellular stresses.

Background: Respiratory complications resulting from motor neurons degeneration are the primary cause of death in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Predicting the need for non-invasive ventilation (NIV) in ALS is important for advance care planning and clinical trial design. The aim of this study was to assess the potential of quantitative MRI at the brainstem and spinal cord levels to predict the need for NIV during the first six months after diagnosis.

The animal reservoir of Enterobacterales producing Extended-Spectrum-β-Lactamases (ESBL) and plasmid-borne cephalosporinases (pAmpC) is a global concern. Using genome data, we analyzed a population of Escherichia coli and Salmonella species resistant to third-generation cephalosporins (3GC-R) recovered from healthy food animals (HA) and diseased food animals (DA) across Europe. Among the isolates collected from HA (n = 4,498) and DA (n = 833) in up to twelve European countries, 62 (1.

Olfaction is a multi-step process. At a peripheral level, nasal odorant metabolism contributes to olfaction via signal termination, variation, and regulation. We summarize current techniques used to investigate nasal odorant metabolism and give an outlook on future approaches, such as nasal tissue models and their potential contributions in future research directions.

The bromodomain adjacent to zinc finger 2B (BAZ2B) gene encodes a chromatin remodeling protein that has been shown to perform a variety of regulatory functions. It has been proposed that loss of BAZ2B function is associated with neurodevelopmental phenotypes, and some recurrent structural birth defects and dysmorphic features have been documented among individuals carrying heterozygous loss-of-function BAZ2B variants. However, additional evidence is needed to confirm that these phenotypes are attributable to BAZ2B deficiency.

In recent years, there has been considerable progress in determining the soil properties that influence the structure of the soil microbiome. By contrast, the effects of microorganisms on their soil habitat have received less attention with most previous studies focusing on microbial contributions to soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics. However, soil microorganisms are not only involved in nutrient cycling and organic matter transformations but also alter the soil habitat through various biochemical and biophysical mechanisms.

The biological behavior and fate of nanoparticles are dependent on their retention time in the blood circulation system. The protein corona components, especially opsonins, and dysopsonins, adsorbed on the nanoparticle surface determine their blood circulation time. The protein corona formation is a dynamic process that involves the competition between different proteins to be adsorbed on the nanoparticles.

Introduction: Studies have shown improved tolerability with once-weekly versus three-weekly docetaxel in the second-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to evaluate the tolerability of nintedanib plus weekly docetaxel in patients with NSCLC.
Methods: This phase I, open-label, dose-escalation study (NCT02668393) enrolled patients with locally advanced/metastatic adenocarcinoma NSCLC that had progressed on first-line platinum chemotherapy.

The green revolution successfully increased agricultural output in the early 1960s by relying primarily on three pillars: plant breeding, irrigation, and chemical fertilization. Today, the need to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, water scarcity, and future environmental changes, together with a growing population, requires innovative strategies to adapt to a new context and prevent food shortages. Therefore, scientists from around the world are directing their efforts to breed crops for future environments to sustainably produce more nutritious food.

However, a growing body of research has shown that informant-report is a valuable and too often overlooked source of unique information. The aim of this study was to validate the French version of the informant-report form of the Big Five Inventory-2 (BFI-2) which assesses 15 facet traits in addition to the five major trait domains.
