Intraoperative imaging during skull-base surgery allows the operator to control surgical dissection and to tailor the approach, reducing morbidity due to inadequate resection or reintervention. The O-arm® (Medtronic, Fridley, MN, USA) navigation system is an intraoperative cone-beam CT device that was first designed for spinal surgery but now has applications in lateral skull-base surgery. In this technical note, we present a patient with petrous apex cholesterol granuloma located medial to the intrapetrous internal carotid artery and in the infralabyrinthine compartment.

With a view to identifying main endocrine disruptors (ED) mixtures to which French consumers are exposed through food, their main diets were modelled using an adapted dimension reduction method. Seven specific diets could be modelled for adults while only one overall diet was considered for children aged 3-17 years. The knowledge of the contamination levels of 78 known or suspected endocrine disrupting compounds in the foods constituting these diets, collected in the frame of the second French Total Diet Study, made it possible to explore the mixtures of EDs to which consumers are exposed.

We report on the experimental and numerical observations of synchronization and desynchronization of bound states of multiple breathing solitons (breathing soliton molecules) in an ultrafast fiber laser. In the desynchronization regime, although the breather molecules as wholes are not synchronized to the cavity, the individual breathers within a molecule are synchronized to each other with a delay (lag synchronization). An intermediate regime between the synchronization and desynchronization phases is also observed, featuring self-modulation of the synchronized state.

In France, about 2000 new cases of anal cancer are diagnosed annually. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common histological type, mostly occurring secondary to persistent HPV16 infection. Invasive cancer is preceded by precancerous lesions.

This article explores the relevance of the psycho-corporal mediation that interventions based on social aesthetics allow when working with the homeless, particularly regarding the specific nature of their identities and bodies. Based on an ethnographic survey conducted in an experimental shelter for extremely marginalized people (named the “Integration Village”), we detail the health, body, and identity issues related to this type of care. The scientific literature and the social aestheticians we interviewed also indicate that the bodily and psychological dimensions of this type of treatment are closely intertwined.

Purpose: Oral-facial-digital (OFD) syndromes are genetically heterogeneous developmental disorders, caused by pathogenic variants in genes involved in primary cilia formation and function. We identified a previously undescribed type of OFD with brain anomalies, ranging from alobar holoprosencephaly to pituitary anomalies, in 6 unrelated families.
Methods: Exome sequencing of affected probands was supplemented with alternative splicing analysis in patient and control lymphoblastoid and fibroblast cell lines, and primary cilia structure analysis in patient fibroblasts.

Introduction: Sacroiliac bone marrow edema is an important factor in the diagnosis and management of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). The aim of this meta-analysis is to assess the effect of the different bDMARDs and tsDMARDs on the SPARCC score at 12-16 and 48-52 weeks.
Methods: A systematic review, performed on PubMed (including Medline), Cochrane (CENTRAL) and DOAJ databases, included randomized controlled studies evaluating the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) SPARCC score at 12-16 or 48-52 weeks in patients with axSpA meeting the ASAS 2009 criteria or the modified New York criteria.

Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8 (ZIF-8) material was prepared by chemical precipitation method. The microstructure and physical properties of the as-prepared samples were characterized by XRD, BET, FESEM and UV spectrophotometer. The self-made four-channel measurement device was used to test the gas sensitivity of ZIF-8 material toward ethanol gas under photo-thermal synergistic excitation.

To develop highly sensitive surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) films, various types of aggregated Ag nanowire (NW) and nanoparticle (NP) complex structures were fabricated using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates and thermal evaporation. Aggregated AgNW structures with numerous tapered nanogaps were fabricated via Ag deposition on aggregated thin alumina nanowires of different lengths. AgNP complex structures were obtained by collapsing vertically aligned thin alumina nanowires 1 μm in length and depositing AgNPs on their tops and sides using surface tension during ethanol drying after functionalization.

Odor is central to food quality. Still, a major challenge is to understand how the odorants present in a given food contribute to its specific odor profile, and how to predict this olfactory outcome from the chemical composition. In this proof-of-concept study, we seek to develop an integrative model that combines expert knowledge, fuzzy logic, and machine learning to predict the quantitative odor description of complex mixtures of odorants.

Objectives: The perception of oncologists could impact the attractiveness of the specialty and dialogue between oncologists and other physicians. The aim of the study was to describe and understand the stereotypes and social representation (SR) associated with oncologists among medical students, residents and physicians in France.
Methods: This nationwide web-based survey conducted in 2021 was based on hierarchical evocation methods.

Low electronic gap graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) are used for the fabrication of nanomaterial-based devices and, when isolated, for mono-molecular electronics experiences, for which a well-controlled length is crucial. Here, an on-surface chemistry protocol is monitored for producing long and well-isolated GNR molecular wires on an Au(111) surface. The two-step Ullmann coupling reaction is sequenced in temperature from 100 °C to 350 °C by steps of 50 °C, returning at room temperature between each step and remaining in ultrahigh vacuum conditions.

In the recent past, the chirality borne by a phosphorus center has aroused growing interest in many fields, and the development of new methodologies, notably using inexpensive reagents and simple experimental conditions, has become topical. An efficient stereoselective synthesis of P-chirogenic phosphinites useful as chiral phosphorus building blocks is herein described thanks to a new intramolecular phosphorus rearrangement based on P*(III)-phosphinyl N→O migration. This rearrangement was performed by heating at 50 °C aminophosphine-boranes, easily prepared from chiral amino alcohols, with DABCO in toluene overnight.

AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid) receptors (AMPARs) mediate fast excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. AMPARs form by homo- or heteromeric assembly of subunits encoded by the GRIA1-GRIA4 genes, of which only GRIA3 is X-chromosomal. Increasing numbers of GRIA3 missense variants are reported in patients with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD), but only a few have been examined functionally.

A set of graphitic carbon nitride samples was prepared using a straightforward experimental procedure without templates and any subsequent treatments. The materials were studied in-depth using a range of physical and chemical methods such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy, elemental analysis (CHN), nitrogen physisorption, SEM, XPS, TPD CO. The resulting g-CN was shown to be highly efficient in carboxymethylation of cinnamyl alcohol with dimethyl carbonate yielding up to ca.

Taste perception is crucial and impairments, which can be linked to pathologies, can lead to eating disorders. It is triggered by taste compounds stimulating receptors located on the tongue. However, the tongue is covered by a film containing saliva and microorganisms suspected to modulate the taste receptor environment.
