The dataset gathers available regulations of human activities and protection levels of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) of the European Union (EU). The MPA list and polygons were extracted from the MPA database of the European Environment Agency (EEA) and completed with available zoning systems (all were filtered for their marine area reported under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive). Fully-overlapping MPAs were merged.

It is generally accepted that a weakening of the North Atlantic thermohaline circulation caused the Younger Dryas cooling. Although the role of seasonality was emphasized previously, this aspect is rarely considered yet, and it remains elusive how this impacted hydroclimate during winters and summers across Central Europe. Here, we coupled biomarker-based δO and δH from Bergsee in southern Germany to reconstruct deuterium excess as a proxy for evaporation history from the Bølling-Allerød to the Preboreal.

Introduction: Progressive interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are rare but severe diseases, with high mortality and morbidity, with no effective pharmacological treatment allowing for long-term remission, and therefore no clear therapeutic recommendations. Several ILDs present inflammatory components (ILDic), which may justify the use of anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs, as first-step therapy. Except for systemic sclerosis (SSc)-ILD and sarcoidosis, the evidence in favor of this approach is very weak.

Here we conduct a study involving 12 individuals with retinal dystrophy, neurological impairment, and skeletal abnormalities, with special focus on GPATCH11, a lesser-known G-patch domain-containing protein, regulator of RNA metabolism. To elucidate its role, we study fibroblasts from unaffected individuals and patients carrying the recurring c.328+1 G > T mutation, which specifically removes the main part of the G-patch domain while preserving the other domains.

Concentric and eccentric contractions show different patterns of neural activity at both peripheral and cortical levels, which are thought to influence the perception of action properties such as the weight of objects moved by others. The aim of this study was to investigate how the type of muscle contraction influences weight estimation during action observation. Forty-eight volunteers completed the Main experiment and the Control experiment.

Purpose: MYRF-related cardiac-urogenital syndrome (MYRF-CUGS) is a rare condition associated with heterozygous MYRF variants. The description of MYRF-CUGS phenotype is mostly based on postnatal cases and 36 affected individuals have been published so far. We aim now to delineate the prenatal phenotype of MYRF-CUGS by reporting clinical data from fetuses and neonates with a pathogenic MYRF variant.

To deliver their functionality when used in applications, citrus fibers need to be rehydrated. Factors such as chemical composition, structural organization as well as chemical surface composition are known to influence this functionality. Processing and storage conditions can affect these parameters, making it challenging to maintain stable functionality.

Acute postoperative endophthalmitis is a rare but dreadful complication of intraocular surgeries. These clinical presentations should be managed emergently with medical treatment in every case and surgical treatment in selected cases according to clinical criteria, which are still under debate. In this article, we report what was presented on this topic in the annual report at the 2024 French Society of Ophthalmology congress.

Purpose: Radiation therapy (RT) exerts its anti-tumour efficacy by inducing direct damage to cancer cells but also through modification of the tumour microenvironment (TME) by inducing immunogenic antitumor response. Conversely, RT also promotes an immunosuppressive TME notably through the recruitment of regulatory T cells (Tregs). Glycoprotein A repetitions predominant (GARP), a transmembrane protein highly expressed by activated Tregs, plays a key role in the activation of TGF-β and thus promotes the immunosuppressive action of Tregs.

Social interaction research is lacking an experimental paradigm enabling researchers to make causal inferences in free social interactions. For instance, the expressive signals that causally modulate the emergence of romantic attraction during interactions remain unknown. To disentangle causality in the wealth of covarying factors that govern social interactions, we developed an open-source video-conference platform enabling researchers to covertly manipulate the social signals produced by participants during interactions.

Purpose: Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-type endotoxins are naturally found in the gut microbiota and there is emerging evidence linking gut microbiota and neuroinflammation leading to retinal neurodegeneration. Thinning of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) is a biomarker of retinal neurodegeneration, and a hallmark of glaucoma, the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. We assessed the association of a blood biomarker of LPS with peripapillary RNFL thickness (RNFLT) and its longitudinal evolution up to 11 years.

This study aimed to investigate the behavior of smart bilayer films under various temperature and relative humidity (RH). Smart bilayer films were fabricated using sodium alginate with incorporated butterfly pea anthocyanin and agar containing catechin-lysozyme. Cellulose nanospheres were added at concentrations of 0% and 10% w/w of the film and subjected to test at 4 °C and 25 °C, considering different RHs (0%, 50%, and 80%).

Competition between motor and declarative memory systems, both involved simultaneously in motor learning, has been shown to reduce motor consolidation. Here, we investigated this conflict during the learning of a sequential finger-tapping task (SFTT) scheduled for either the morning or the afternoon. Sixty participants, divided into four groups, trained on SFTT at either 10 a.
