Farmers, particularly in Europe, are exposed to multiple pesticides during their working life. Such exposures can cause adverse health outcomes. We aimed to identify the main pesticide mixtures to which French agricultural workers are exposed and to classify farmers into clusters based on their mixture exposure profile.

Purpose: The etiopathogenesis of coronal nonsyndromic craniosynostosis (cNCS), a congenital condition defined by premature fusion of 1 or both coronal sutures, remains largely unknown.
Methods: We conducted the largest genome-wide association study of cNCS followed by replication, fine mapping, and functional validation of the most significant region using zebrafish animal model.
Results: Genome-wide association study identified 6 independent genome-wide-significant risk alleles, 4 on chromosome 7q21.

Language is supported by a distributed network of brain regions with a particular contribution from the left hemisphere. A multi-level understanding of this network requires studying its genetic architecture. We used resting-state imaging data from 29,681 participants (UK Biobank) to measure connectivity between 18 left-hemisphere regions involved in multimodal sentence-level processing, as well as their right-hemisphere homotopes, and interhemispheric connections.

Differentiation of syncope from transient loss of consciousness can be challenging in the emergency department (ED). Natural Language Processing (NLP) enables the analysis of free text in the electronic medical records (EMR). The present paper aimed to develop a large language models (LLM) for syncope recognition in the ED and proposed a framework for model integration within the clinical workflow.

Several high-quality, randomized, sham-controlled trials have provided evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency, ultrasound and alcohol catheter-based renal denervation (RDN) for reducing blood pressure (BP). A French clinical consensus document has therefore been developed to propose guidance for the appropriate use of RDN in the management of hypertension along with a dedicated care pathway and management strategy. The French experts group concluded that RDN can serve as an adjunct therapy for patients with confirmed uncontrolled, resistant essential hypertension despite treatment with≥3 antihypertensive drugs, including a long-acting calcium channel blocker, a renin-angiotensin system blocker and a thiazide/thiazide-like diuretic at maximally tolerated doses.

Background/objective: Inhibition is crucial for controlling behavior and is impaired in various psychopathologies. Neurofeedback holds promise in addressing cognitive deficits, and experimental research is essential for identifying its functional benefits. This study aimed to investigate whether boosting sensorimotor activity (SMR) improves inhibitory control in a final sample of healthy individuals ( = 53), while exploring the underlying neurophysiological mechanism.

The use of diagenetic alterations in bone microstructure ('histotaphonomy') as indicators of funerary treatment in the past and for post-mortem interval calculations in forensic cases has received increasing attention in the last decade. Studies have used histological changes to conclude in-situ decomposition, mummification, infanticide and post-mortem interval. There has been very little attempt to experimentally validate the links between decomposition, depositional conditions, time-since-death and microscopic changes in human bone so that meaningful interpretations of archaeological and forensic observations can be made.

The development of the human dentition is susceptible to disruption owing to its intricate and delicate nature, encompassing variations in tooth number, anatomical configuration, and the characteristics of enamel, dentine, and cementum. This chapter will specifically address the prevalent defect of molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH), which can impose a significant treatment burden on individuals. MIH is linked to deleterious alterations in the properties of affected enamel, which can lead to rapid enamel breakdown and carious lesion formation in those at a heightened caries risk.

Understanding deep-time marine biodiversity change under the combined effects of climate and connectivity changes is fundamental for predicting the impacts of modern climate change in semi-enclosed seas. We quantify the Late Miocene-Early Pliocene [11.63 to 3.

Human activities and climate change have accelerated species losses and degradation of ecosystems to unprecedented levels. Both theoretical and empirical evidence suggest that extinction cascades contribute substantially to global species loss. The effects of extinction cascades can ripple across levels of ecological organization, causing not only the secondary loss of taxonomic diversity but also functional diversity erosion.

Unlabelled: Systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) and adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) are considered the same disease, but a common approach for diagnosis and management is still missing.
Methods: In May 2022, EULAR and PReS endorsed a proposal for a joint task force (TF) to develop recommendations for the diagnosis and management of sJIA and AOSD. The TF agreed during a first meeting to address four topics: similarity between sJIA and AOSD, diagnostic biomarkers, therapeutic targets and strategies and complications including macrophage activation syndrome (MAS).

The quest for polymers that would be at the same time bio-based and degradable after usage, in addition to offering chemical post-modification options, remains a daunting challenge in contemporary polymer science. Despite advances in polymer chemistry, attempts at controlling the chain-growth polymerization of muconate esters remain unexplored. Here we show that dialkyl muconates can be rapidly polymerized by organocatalyzed group transfer polymerization (O-GTP).

Background: Creatinine-based equations are the most used to estimate glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI), the re-expressed Lund-Malmö Revised (r-LMR) and the European Kidney Function Consortium (EKFC) equations are the most validated. The EKFC and r-LMR equations have been suggested to have better performances in young adults, but this is debated.

Viruses explore the potential multifunctional capacity of the proteins encoded in their compact genome to establish infection. P4 of luteoviruses has emerged as one such multifunctional protein. Expressed from an open reading frame (ORF) nested within coat protein ORF, it displays diverse subcellular localizations and interactions, reflecting its complex role in virus infection.
