Neuron navigator 1 (Nav1) is a cytoskeleton-associated protein expressed during brain development that is necessary for proper neuritogenesis, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here we show that Nav1 is present in elongating axon tracts during mouse brain embryogenesis. We found that depletion of Nav1 in cultured neurons disrupts growth cone morphology and neurotrophin-stimulated neuritogenesis.

Class I Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) evolutionary divergence (HED) is a metric which reflects immunopeptidome diversity and has been associated with immune checkpoint inhibitor responses in solid tumors. Its impact and interest in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) have not yet been thoroughly studied. This study analyzed the clinical and immune impact of class I and II HED in 492 acute myeloid leukemia (AML) recipients undergoing HCT.

Cardiac fiber direction is an important factor determining the propagation of electrical activity, as well as the development of mechanical force. In this article, we imaged the ventricles of several species with special attention to the intraventricular septum to determine the functional consequences of septal fiber organization. First, we identified a dual-layer organization of the fiber orientation in the intraventricular septum of ex vivo sheep hearts using diffusion tensor imaging at high field MRI.

Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is a malignant B cell neoplasm that accounts for almost half of pediatric cancers in sub-Saharan African countries. Although the BL endemic prevalence is attributable to the combination of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection with malaria and environmental carcinogens exposure, such as the food contaminant aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), the molecular determinants underlying the pathogenesis are not fully understood. Consistent with the role of epigenetic mechanisms at the interface between the genome and environment, AFB1 and EBV impact the methylome of respectively leukocytes and B cells specifically.

Eye movements serve vision in orienting gaze toward an object of interest in order to place its image simultaneously on both foveas and in stabilizing gaze relative to the environment in order to maintain fixation on the object of interest, even in the case of body displacement. Disorders of eye movements can interfere with ocular alignment and/or monocular motility, and result in diplopia, which is the most common symptom. Eye movement disorders can also interfere with binocular motility without ocular misalignment and result in gaze palsy.

Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) have reduced ability to mount adequate antibody response after two doses of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. French health authorities have allowed a third booster dose (D3) for KTRs, but their response is heterogeneous and tools able to discriminate the responders are lacking. Anti-RBD IgG titers (chemiluminescence immunoassay), spike-specific cellular responses (IFN-γ-releasing assay, IGRA), and in vitro serum neutralization of the virus (the best available correlate of protection), were evaluated 7-14 days after the second dose (D2) of BNT162b2 vaccine in 93 KTRs.

Transplant recipients, who receive therapeutic immunosuppression to prevent graft rejection, are characterized by high coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related mortality and defective response to vaccines. We observed that previous infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), but not the standard two-dose regimen of vaccination, provided protection against symptomatic COVID-19 in kidney transplant recipients. We therefore compared the cellular and humoral immune responses of these two groups of patients.

We consider a computational multiscale framework of a bio-chemo-mechanical model for intimal hyperplasia. With respect to existing models, we investigate the interactions between hemodynamics, cellular dynamics and biochemistry on the development of the pathology. Within the arterial wall, we propose a mathematical model consisting of kinetic differential equations for key vascular cell types, collagen and growth factors.

Many neoplasms remain unclassified after histopathological examination, which requires further molecular analysis. To this regard, mesenchymal neoplasms are particularly challenging due to the combination of their rarity and the large number of subtypes, and many entities still lack robust diagnostic hallmarks. RNA transcriptomic profiles have proven to be a reliable basis for the classification of previously unclassified tumors and notably for mesenchymal neoplasms.

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) leads to a progressive loss of locomotor automaticity. Consequently, PD patients rely more on executive resources for the control of gait, resulting in increased prefrontal activity while walking. Exercise-based training programs may improve automaticity of walking and reduce prefrontal activity in this population.

Biallelic mutations in the gene lead to spastic paraplegia-5 (SPG5). We report herein the case of a patient whose clinical symptoms began with progressive lower limb spasticity during childhood, and who secondly developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/frontotemporal dementia (ALS/FTD) at the age of 67 years. Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) gene analysis identified the compound heterozygous mutations c.

Clear cell sarcoma (CCSA) is characterized by a chromosomal translocation leading to rearrangement, resulting in aberrant transcription of multiple genes, including . The EORTC 90101 phase II trial evaluated the MET inhibitor crizotinib in CCSA but resulted in only sporadic responses. We performed an in-depth histopathological and molecular analysis of archival CCSA samples to identify alterations potentially relevant for the treatment outcome.

The level of protection achieved by the standard two doses of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) remains unclear. To study this we used the French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network (REIN) Registry to compare the incidence and severity of 1474 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in patients receiving MHD after none, one or two doses of vaccine. Vaccination significantly reduce COVID-19 incidence and severity, but 11% of patients infected after two doses still died.

The incidental or malicious release of toxic gases in the atmosphere is one of the most critical scenarios for cities. The impact of these releases varies with the ventilation potential of the urban environment. To disentangle this crucial aspect, vulnerability to airborne releases is here traced back to essential properties of the urban fabric.

Re-expansion pulmonary edema after chest tube drainage of spontaneous pneumothorax is a very rare complication, even more when it is bilateral. We report the case of a middle age patient presenting to our emergency department for syncope without shortness of breath. A chest X-ray showed a complete pneumothorax, but the treatment worsened the patient condition.

Background: Eosinophilic annular erythema (EAE) is a rare eosinophil-related skin disease which typically manifests with annular erythematous plaques and severe pruritus. Besides the diagnosis, the treatment of EAE is challenging since relevant published data are sparse.
Methods: The aim of this study was to assess the underlying diseases, treatments and outcomes of patients with EAE.

Background: The value of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is not completely understood. This study investigated the benefit of neoadjuvant chemotherapy according to prognostic stratification based on the Sarculator nomogram for STS.
Methods: This study analyzed data from ISG-STS 1001, a randomized study that tested 3 cycles of neoadjuvant anthracycline plus ifosfamide (AI) or histology-tailored (HT) chemotherapy in adult patients with STS.

TRIP6, a member of the ZYXIN-family of LIM domain proteins, is a focal adhesion component. Trip6 deletion in the mouse, reported here, reveals a function in the brain: ependymal and choroid plexus epithelial cells are carrying, unexpectedly, fewer and shorter cilia, are poorly differentiated, and the mice develop hydrocephalus. TRIP6 carries numerous protein interaction domains and its functions require homodimerization.
