The equality of mentally ill people with somatically ill people and the provision of community care were central topics of the Psychiatry-Enquête. With regard to medical rehabilitation services, this goal has not been implemented to date. The amendments to the Ninth Book of the Social Code (SGB IX) made by the Federal Participation Act (BTHG) again open up the possibility of making outreach medical rehabilitation services accessible to people with severe mental illnesses.

Retinal vascular occlusions require close cooperation of different medical disciplines to ensure optimal care of the affected patients. The medical clarification between arterial and venous occlusions is comparable but in the case of retinal arterial occlusions it should be carried out immediately. The most important associated diagnoses are arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and atrial fibrillation.

Background: The safety and efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for the treatment of acute anterior cerebral artery (ACA) occlusions have not clearly been delineated. Outcomes may be impacted based on whether the occlusion is isolated to the ACA (primary ACA occlusion) or occurs in conjunction with other cerebral arteries (secondary).
Methods: We performed a retrospective review of the multicenter Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm (STAR) database.

Acknowledgeing that the group of follicular lymphomas is to be regarded as very heterogeneous, a group of follicular lymphomas has been delineated in recent years that was characterised by an often diffuse growth (without formation of evident follicular structures) as well as expression of CD23 in the lymphoma cells and the absence of the classic BCL2 translocation. Further characteristics are a preferred inguinal localisation of the lymphomas and a localised stage with a good prognosis. Genetically, this lymphoma group is characterised by a high rate of either STAT6 or SOCS1 mutations.

Congenital malformations of the pinna and aural atresia can result in major aesthetic and functional deficits. Knowledge about embryologic developments and established classification systems is an essential requirement when dealing with affected patients. Early detection of deficiencies and introduction of appropriate diagnostic measures is vital to initiate adequate therapies and prevent long-term disabilities.

Language, cultural identity, values, or migration experiences of patients, relatives and medical professionals have a significant influence on health care. In individual cases, this can lead to the perceptions of moral problems and conflicts, and to requests for clinical ethics support service. What is the role of clinical ethicists in the face of such perceptions? How does a culturally competent clinical ethics support service look like? In the present contribution, this question will be examined on the basis of reflections on the relationship between culture and ethics as well as the discussion about culturally competent medical ethics.

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has the potential to improve both the efficiency and the quality of medical care. Applications of AI have already become established in various specialized fields in internal medicine, whereas in other fields the applications are still in various phases of development. An aspect that is important to elucidate is the effects of AI on the interaction between patients and healthcare personnel.
