Prior research on goal self-concordance (GSC) and goal attainment (GA) has studied these dimensions as transversal sections through a person's life domains. Blending the recent developments in self-determination theory and pro-environmental behavior literature, the current study introduced the concept of non-restricted goals and explored whether work climate (WCQ) and environmental identity (EID) impact GA and, through it, in-role job performance (IRB), organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) and wellbeing, as well as organizational citizenship behaviors for the environment (OCBE). It also explored GSC along with basic psychological needs' satisfaction (BPNS) and GA, as explanatory mechanisms.

The layer-by-layer (LbL) technique has been used for the construction of a new enzyme biosensor. Multilayer films containing glucose oxidase, GOx, and nitrogen-doped graphene (NG) dispersed in the biocompatible positively-charged polymer chitosan (chit(+)(NG+GOx)), together with the negatively charged polymer poly(styrene sulfonate), PSS(-), were assembled by alternately immersing a gold electrode substrate in chit(+)(NG+GOx) and PSS(-) solutions. Gravimetric monitoring during LbL assembly by an electrochemical quartz microbalance enabled investigation of the adsorption mechanism and deposited mass for each monolayer.

Yeast biodiversity represents a dynamic scientific domain characterized by permanent emerging theories and accumulation of new data. Identification of genome structure for a number of yeast species and elucidation of regulatory pathways for species-specific metabolic networks, lead to development of numerous applications of yeasts in industry, biotechnology, therapeutics and bioremediation. The studies of the scientific community were long time focused on Saccharomyces cerevisae due mainly to its use in food production.

Mutations in adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene have not been previously characterized among Romanian patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). We initiate this study to detect the mutations in APC gene in blood and tumor samples collected from 16 patients (10 men and 6 women) and blood samples from 21 first and second degree relatives of the patients. For this the presence of mutations in exons 6, 7, 12, 13, 14 as well as in regions B, L and W of exon 15 was investigated using PCR multiplex.

Bacterial resistance by producing of beta-lactamases represents an increasing problem of infections chemotherapy. beta-lactam hydrolyzing activities are detected in virtually all bacteria, from witch Enterobacter cloacae produce chromosomal beta-lactamases included in inducible class AmpC beta-lactamases. The purpose of this preliminary study was to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility of 7 inducible beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacter cloacae strains isolated from aquatic sources (river and polluted waters).

Several multiple antibiotic resistant E. coli strains isolated from river and polluted waters were compared for their genetic relatedness. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed for gentamycin, kanamycin, ampicillin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, ceftazidime and cefotaxime, as described by Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method following NCCLS recommendations.

In natural bacterial communities the microbial structure and functions are subjected to dynamic environmental and genetic adaptation. Plasmid-mediated horizontal genes transfer has a major impact on the adaptability of bacteria, exemplified by the interspecific and intergeneric transfer of antibioresistance genes in a variety of aquatic media. The high incidence of resistant bacteria has been documented for fresh waters, marine waters and chronically polluted waters.

A combination of ion-exchange chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been used to separate the reduced oligosaccharides produced by alkaline borohydride degradation of oviducal mucins obtained from the jelly coat of Rana dalmatina. The primary structures of 26 O-glycans were determined by one-dimensional and two-dimensional 1H and 1H13C NMR spectroscopy. As observed for 20 other amphibian species, these carbohydrate chains are highly species-specific.

In this paper we extend a statistical microscopic analysis to the anchoring properties of polymer films obtained by two concomitant or subsequent polymerization processes along two different directions. We can thus explain the recently observed compensating effect of two orthogonal polymerization processes. An expression for the anchoring energy has been evaluated from the extra Helmholtz free energy within an interface layer where the interactions shift from polymer-nematic interactions to nematic-nematic interactions, as in bulk.
