Departamento de Ciencias de la Vida, Universidad de Alcalá, Facultad de Ciencias, Área de Ecología, Ctra. Madrid-Barcelona, km.33, 600, 28805, Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, Spain.

Climate change is one of the main challenges that human societies are currently facing. Given that forests represent major natural carbon sinks in terrestrial ecosystems, administrations worldwide are launching broad-scale programs to promote forests, including stands of non-native trees. Yet, non-native trees may have profound impacts on the functions and services of forest ecosystems, including the carbon cycle, as they may differ widely from native trees in structural and functional characteristics.

Background: The global incidence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is rapidly increasing, with retinopathy being its most common complication and a leading cause of preventable blindness. Although the precise mechanisms involved in the development of diabetic retinopathy (DR) are not fully understood, defective immunomodulation is a recognized key factor in its pathophysiology. Regulatory T cells (Treg) regulate inflammation and promote regeneration, and while they are known to have important anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective roles in other tissues, including central nervous system, their role in the diabetic retina remains largely unknown.

Herein, we report how merging and clipping nets in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be controlled in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal fashion using three different approaches─the merged net, clip-off chemistry, and linker reinstallation─to design and synthesize three- and two-merged net MOFs. Initially, we show the formation of three isoreticular three-merged net MOFs by linking a trimeric Sc cluster, Sc(μ-Ο)(-COO), with ditopic zigzag and tritopic linkers. The resulting MOFs exhibit three-merged edge-transitive nets─ + + ─for the first time.

Efficient simulation of quantum computers relies on understanding and exploiting the properties of quantum states. This is the case for methods such as tensor networks, based on entanglement, and the tableau formalism, which represents stabilizer states. In this Letter, we integrate these two approaches to present a generalization of the tableau formalism used for Clifford circuit simulation.
