Sustainable alternatives to high environmental input feed ingredients are important to reducing the environmental impact of animal agriculture. Protein and oil extracted from cultivation of black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae (BSFL) on waste feedstocks such as manure, food waste and plant residues could be a suitable source of nutrients. The oil from BFSL contains large amounts of saturated fatty acids, particularly lauric acid, and may be a more sustainable alternative to palm and coconut oils that are currently used in calf milk replacers in many parts of the world.

This study reports the results of the screening process done to identify viable phase change materials (PCMs) to be integrated in applications in two different temperature ranges: 60-80 °C for mid-temperature applications and 150-250 °C for high-temperature applications. The comprehensive review involved an extensive analysis of scientific literature and commercial material datasheets. A total of 65 PCMs for mid-temperature applications and 36 PCMs for high-temperature applications were identified through this extensive search.

Clinical trials in oncology are important tools to identify and establish new effective drugs for cancer treatment. Since the development of the concept of precision oncology, a huge number of multi-centric biomarker-driven clinical trials have been performed and promoted by either academic institutions or pharmaceutical companies. In this scenario, the role of pathologists is essential in multiple aspects, with new challenges that should be addressed.

The prevalence of respiratory nematodes in domestic animals has increased in Europe in recent decades. is the most common parasitic nematode of the respiratory tract in felids, and an increase in its prevalence has been suggested in different European countries including Spain, with values ranging from 0% to 30%. The Baermann technique was used to detect metastrongyloid larvae in 93 faecal samples from cats living in colonies (n = 29), cats living in shelters (n = 30), and owned cats (n = 34).

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease, its management and morbidity impose a great burden to healthcare systems. Development and rollout of biological disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs has contributed to improvements for patients, however, high costs have prevented them to be widely used. This is being addressed with biosimilars, with equal benefit-risk profile and reduced costs.

Background: The tissue-based definition of transient ischemic attack, which requires the use of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), has limitations in its applicability to clinical practice. This contributes to the limited evidence regarding the risk of subsequent stroke and the associated predictors in the group of patients who are tissue-negative on DWI. Our aim was to assess the early and long-term prognoses of consecutive patients with tissue-negative transient ischemic attacks attended at an emergency department.

Terpenoids are valued chemicals in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, cosmetic, and biomedical industries. Biosynthesis of these chemicals relies on polymerization of Isopentenyl di-phosphate (IPP) and/or dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP) monomers, which plants synthesize using a cytosolic mevalonic acid (MVA) pathway and a plastidic methyleritritol-4-phosphate (MEP) pathway. Circadian regulation affects MVA and MEP pathway activity at three levels: substrate availability, gene expression of pathway enzymes, and utilization of IPP and DMAPP for synthesizing complex terpenoids.

Diffusion cells are used to measure diffusion coefficients (D) in gels. These measurements are of interest to understand and predict the availability of nutritive or toxic chemical species in waters, soils and sediments. When the diffusive flux from the donor to the acceptor compartment is constant (steady-state regime), D is determined from the slope of the linear plot of the acceptor concentration vs time.

The delicate balance of trace mineral supplementation is critical for optimizing rumen function and overall ruminant health. This study evaluated the solubility of an advanced chelate technology-based supplement and assessed its impact on rumen degradability and apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) when replacing inorganic sources. The solubility of the advanced trace minerals supplement (ACTM) was assessed at pH 5 and pH 2.

This manuscript is based on two studies that investigate the process of social construction of time in the two versions of traditional sports game (TSG) known as Elbow Tag. The internal logic of this TSG has an original role-change system. Changing a rule in version 1 (V1) implies a major modification of the role system in V2.

The problem of local item dependencies (LIDs) is very common in personality and attitude measures, particularly in those that measure narrow-bandwidth dimensions. At the structural level, these dependencies can be modeled by using extended factor analytic (FA) solutions that include correlated residuals. However, the effects that LIDs have on the scores based on these extended solutions have received little attention so far.

Dual careers (DCs) are challenging trajectories followed by athletes willing to develop their academic/professional career with their athletic careers. These trajectories usually entail additional stressors, which can decrease athletes' mental health or even increase their risk of mental ill-health. While existing research has recognized the importance of psychological and social factors in both of these areas separately, we lack systematic knowledge on which factors are associated with European DC athlete mental health outcomes, making evidence-based practice more challenging.

Background: In a context of environmental monitoring around installations related to the nuclear fuel cycle, the Diffusive Gradient in Thin-films (DGT) technique captures the integrated concentration of U isotopes in their native environment, yielding comprehensive data on U origin (anthropogenic vs natural), total concentration, and mobility. However, for common deployment times (4-5 days) in moderately basic waters, none of the commercially available binding gels is adapted to measure the total U concentration. So, the development of novel DGT binding gels is timely.

Recent advances in multiple sclerosis (MS) management have shifted perspectives on treatment strategies, advocating for the early initiation of high-efficacy disease-modifying therapies (heDMTs). This perspective review discusses the rationale, benefits, and challenges associated with early heDMT initiation, reflecting on the obsolescence of the traditional "first-line" and "second-line" treatment classifications. The article emerges from the last update of the consensus document of the Spanish Society of Neurology on the treatment of MS.
