Foxp3 acetylation is essential to regulatory T (Treg) cell stability and function, but pharmacologically increasing it remains an unmet challenge. Here, we report that small-molecule compounds that inhibit TIP60, an acetyltransferase known to acetylate Foxp3, unexpectedly increase Foxp3 acetylation and Treg induction. Utilizing a dual experimental/computational approach combined with a newly developed FRET-based methodology compatible with flow cytometry to measure Foxp3 acetylation, we unraveled the mechanism of action of these small-molecule compounds in murine and human Treg induction cell cultures.

As the effects of Nature-based solutions (NBS) application are usually much broader than only the area under the project implementation, it is necessary to capture the impact on these actions of landscape as well as the influence of landscape type on the NBS effectiveness. The main aim of this study was to detect linkages between the operational of NBS and the landscape dimention, based on a systematic literature review. The results showed the existence of seven linkages: (1, 2) 'input' and 'output' resulting from the consideration of landscape as a scale of NBS implementation; (3, 4) 'stimulator' and 'inspiration' based on the contribution of landscape-based management to the implementation of NBS; (5) 'co-beneficiary' since the implementation of NBS affects aesthetic dimensions of landscape; (6) 'tool' as landscape-based indicators are used to assess the impacts of NBS; and (7) 'foundation' as health-supporting landscapes may be considered as a type of NBS action.

Seven photosynthethic microbiomes were collected from field environmental samples to test their potential in polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and exopolysaccharides (EPS) production, both alternatives to chemical-based polymers. Microscope observations together with microbial sequence analysis revealed the microbiome enrichment in cyanobacteria after culture growth under phosphorus limitation. PHB and EPS production were studied under three culture factors (phototrophy, mixotrophy and heterotrophy) by evaluating and optimizing the effect of three parameters (organic and inorganic carbon and days under light:dark cycles) by Box-Behnken design.

In this article, a novel front-end circuit for remote two-wire resistive sensors that is insensitive to the wire resistances is proposed and experimentally characterized. The circuit relies on an OpAmp-based current source with a square-wave excitation, two twin diodes in the feedback path, and a low-pass filter at the output. Using such a circuit topology, the output is a DC voltage proportional to the sensor resistance and independent of the wire resistances.

Microalgae can produce biostimulants in form of phytohormones, which are compounds that, even if applied in low concentrations, can have stimulant effects on plants growth and can enhance their quality and their resistance to stress. Inspired by massive intermediate filament (IF) reorganization in superstretched epithelia, we examine computationally the principles controlling the mechanics of a set of entangled filaments whose ends slide on the cell boundary. We identify an entanglement metric and threshold beyond which random loose networks respond nonaffinely and nonlinearly to stretch by self-organizing into structurally optimal star-shaped configurations. A simple model connecting cellular and filament strains links emergent mechanics to cell geometry, network topology, and filament mechanics.

LaSrCoO (LSC) perovskite, as a potential catalyst precursor for hydrogen (H)-rich production by steam reforming of methanol (SRM) and oxidative steam reforming of methanol (OSRM), was investigated. Using passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) and convolutional neural networks (CNN), we monitored the movements of the two endangered Amazon River dolphin species, the boto (Inia geoffrensis) and the tucuxi (Sotalia fluviatilis) from main rivers to floodplain habitats (várzea) in the Mamirauá Reserve (Amazonas, Brazil). We detected dolphin presence in four main areas based on the classification of their echolocation clicks. Using the same method, we automatically detected boat passages to estimate a possible interaction between boat and dolphin presence.
