A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} decays using a pp collision data sample collected by the LHCb experiment in 2012 and from 2015 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.7 fb^{-1}, is presented. The initial flavor of each D^{0} candidate is determined from the charge of the pion produced in the D^{*}(2010)^{+}→D^{0}π^{+} decay.

This Letter presents the first study of the energy dependence of diboson polarization fractions in WZ→ℓνℓ^{'}ℓ^{'}(ℓ,ℓ^{'}=e,μ) production. The dataset used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector. Two fiducial regions with an enhanced presence of events featuring two longitudinally polarized bosons are defined.

Despite its ubiquitous nature, the atomic structure of water in its liquid state is still controversially debated. We use a combination of X-ray Raman scattering spectroscopy in conjunction with ab initio and path integral molecular dynamics simulations to study the local atomic and electronic structure of water under high pressure conditions. Systematically increasing fingerprints of non-hydrogen-bonded H[Formula: see text]O molecules in the first hydration shell are identified in the experimental and computational oxygen K-edge excitation spectra.

The cleavage of carbophosphinocarbenes and carbodicarbenes with nitrous oxide (NO) leads to the formation of room-temperature stable diazoalkenes. The utility of PhP/N and NHC/N ligand exchange reactions were demonstrated by accessing novel benzimidazole- and benzothiazole derived diazoalkenes, which are not accessible by the current state-of-the-art methods. The stable diazoalkenes subsequently allow further ligand exchange reactions at C(0) with carbon monoxide, isocyanide, or a diamidocarbene (DAC).

Many glassformers display electrorheological effects and a pronounced maximum in their frequency dependent nonlinear dielectric response. The latter so-called "hump" feature was often linked to correlated-particle motions and, so far, was not explored in the large-perturbation mechanical response of viscous liquids. To first clarify the electro-viscoelastic coupling in the linear domain, using the modified Gemant, DiMarzio, and Bishop model, it is demonstrated how the small-amplitude shear mechanical response of -methoxy-PC, a derivative of propylene carbonate, can be related to its complex dielectric permittivity.

Going beyond currently reported two electron transformations that formed the core backdrop of asymmetric catalytic site-selective carbohydrate polyol functionalizations, we herein report a seminal demonstration of an enantioconvergent copper catalyzed site-selective etherification of minimally protected saccharides through a single-electron radical pathway. Further, this strategy paves a rare strategy, through which a carboxamide scaffold that is present in some glycomimetics of pharmacological relevance, can be selectively introduced. In light of the burgeoning interest in chiral radical catalysis, and the virtual absence of such stereocontrol broadly in carbohydrate synthesis, our strategy showcased the unknown capability of chiral radical copper catalysis as a contemporary tool to address the formidable site-selectivity challenge on a remarkable palette of naturally occurring saccharides.

We investigated the effect of the NaCl concentration (0.3-2M) on the structure and dynamics of hen egg yolk at room temperature and during thermal gelation at temperatures in the range of 66-90 °C utilizing low-dose x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy in ultra-small angle x-ray scattering geometry. With an increase in the salt concentration, we observe progressive structural and dynamic changes at room temperature, indicating the disruption of yolk components such as yolk-granules and yolk-plasma proteins.

Statistical combinations of searches for charginos and neutralinos using various decay channels are performed using 139 fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Searches targeting pure-wino chargino pair production, pure-wino chargino-neutralino production, or Higgsino production decaying via standard model W, Z, or h bosons are combined to extend the mass reach to the produced supersymmetric particles by 30-100 GeV. The depth of the sensitivity of the original searches is also improved by the combinations, lowering the 95% C.

According to the sufficiency theory of justice in health, justice requires that people have equal access to adequate health. In this article, I lay out the structure of this view and I assess its distributive implications for setting priority (i) between health needs across persons and (ii) between health care spending and other societal goods. I argue, first, that according to the sufficiency theory, deficiency in health cannot be completely offset by providing other societal goods.

Despite a few recent reports on Rashba effects in two-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) hybrid perovskites, the precise role of organic spacer cations in influencing Rashba band splitting remains unclear. Here, using a combination of temperature-dependent two-photon photoluminescence (2PPL) and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy, alongside density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we contribute to significant insights into the Rashba band splitting found for 2D RP hybrid perovskites. The results demonstrate that the polarity of the organic spacer cation is crucial in inducing structural distortions that lead to Rashba-type band splitting.

Precise modification of a chemical site in a molecule at the single-atom level is one of the most elegant yet difficult transformations in chemistry. A reagent specifically designed for chemoselective introduction of monoatomic carbon is a particularly formidable challenge. The LHCb Collaboration measures production of the exotic hadron χ_{c1}(3872) in proton-nucleus collisions for the first time. Comparison with the charmonium state ψ(2S) suggests that the exotic χ_{c1}(3872) experiences different dynamics in the nuclear medium than conventional hadrons, and comparison with data from proton-proton collisions indicates that the presence of the nucleus may modify χ_{c1}(3872) production rates. This is the first measurement of the nuclear modification factor of an exotic hadron.

Large-amplitude thermal excursions imposed on deeply supercooled liquids modulate the nonlinear time evolution of their structural rearrangements. The consequent aftereffects are treated within a Wiener-Volterra expansion in laboratory time that allows one to calculate the associated physical-aging and thermal response functions. These responses and the corresponding higher-harmonic susceptibilities are illustrated using calculations based on the Tool-Narayanaswamy-Moynihan (TNM) model.

Ice XIX and ice XV are both partly hydrogen-ordered counterparts to disordered ice VI. The ice XIX → XV transition represents the only order-to-order transition in ice physics. Using Raman and dielectric spectroscopies, we investigate the ambient-pressure kinetics of the two individual steps in this transition in real time (of hours), that is, ice XIX → transient ice VI (the latter called VI‡) and ice VI‡ → ice XV.

A combination of searches for a new resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair is presented, using up to 139 fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The combination includes searches performed in three decay channels: bb[over ¯]bb[over ¯], bb[over ¯]τ^{+}τ^{-}, and bb[over ¯]γγ. No excess above the expected Standard Model background is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs originating from the decay of a narrow scalar resonance with mass in the range 251 GeV-5 TeV.

Higgsinos with masses near the electroweak scale can solve the hierarchy problem and provide a dark matter candidate, while detecting them at the LHC remains challenging if their mass splitting is O(1 GeV).
