There are increasing concerns that continued economic growth in high-income countries might not be environmentally sustainable, socially beneficial, or economically achievable. In this Review, we explore the rapidly advancing field of post-growth research, which has evolved in response to these concerns. The central idea of post-growth is to replace the goal of increasing GDP with the goal of improving human wellbeing within planetary boundaries.

The objective was to describe the experiences of people living with neuropsychological symptomatology associated with long-covid, as well as identifying the barriers they encounter in their daily lives and the strategies they develop to deal with them. This is a descriptive qualitative study following an interpretative phenomenological perspective wich was held in Primary Care cin the Northern Metropolitan Area of Barcelona and the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (Badalona, Spain). A total of 34 adults with any persistent neuropsychological symptoms of covid-19 (>12 weeks since disease onset) participated.

The small-sized cervid Procervulus is considered as the most basal member of the Cervidae and one of the earliest ruminants bearing antler-like appendages. The Iberian Miocene record of this stem-cervid is extensively documented and largely overlaps with the Miocene Climatic Optimum (MCO), a transient period of global warming of particular interest when comparing present and near future conditions. Despite receiving a substantial amount of attention, histological studies on Procervulus are very scarce and only limited to postcranial remains of Procervulus praelucidus from Germany (MN3).

Camel milk is a valuable food source with unique nutritional properties and potential health benefits. This study investigated the influence of high dietary salt on milk composition and fatty acid (FA) profile as well as insulin regulation in dairy camels. Twelve multiparous female camels were used in a crossover design with two treatments: control concentrate (CON; 1.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex condition marked by increased pain sensitivity and central sensitization. Studies often explore the link between FM and depressive anxiety disorders, but few focus on dysthymia or persistent depressive disorder (PDD), which can be more disabling than major depression (MD). To identify clinical scales and subscales of the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) that effectively describe and differentiate the psychological profile of PDD, with or without comorbid MD, in FM patients with PDD previously dimensionally classified by the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory III (MCMI-III).

This article aims to illustrate the pivotal role that the environment plays in early child development (ECD), drawing upon data derived from the ethnographic research on children's daily routines. Participant observation and in-depth interviews were conducted over the course of several fieldwork periods (2013-2018). The concept of "mutual raising" is employed to examine the daily interactions between middle-aged children and their domestic animals.

Background: Neuroinflammation plays a major role in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and cumulative evidence suggests that systemic inflammation and the infiltration of immune cells into the brain contribute to this process. However, no study has investigated the role of peripheral blood immune cells in ALS pathophysiology using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq).
Methods: We aimed to characterize immune cells from blood and identify ALS-related immune alterations at single-cell resolution.

A substantial number of patients with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) undergo a nephrectomy, especially in work-up for a kidney transplantation. Currently, there is no evidence-based algorithm to guide clinicians which patients should undergo nephrectomy, the optimal timing of this procedure, or the preferred surgical technique. This systematic review-based consensus statement aimed to answer important questions regarding nephrectomy in ADPKD.

Background: New diagnostic tools have emerged to assist the traditional diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion (MPE), such as high fluorescence cells (HFc) and tumor markers (TMs), determined by clinical laboratory automated pleural fluid workup. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic ability of the combination of HFc and TMs for diagnosing MPE.
Methods: We recruited hospitalized patients with pleural effusion at Parc Taulí University Hospital.

Local resection (LR) in rectal cancer is indicated in stage T1N0M0 without unfavorable pathological factors, achieving oncologically satisfactory outcomes through transanal endoscopic surgery techniques. However, the initial step involves accurate staging and selection of these tumors through specific tests conducted in specialized colorectal units. For T2N0M0 tumors and T1 tumors with poor prognostic factors, the standard treatment is total mesorectal excision (TME), a procedure associated with high postoperative morbidity and mortality, functional impairments, and reduced quality of life.

The performance of Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) bioreactors treating sulfate (SO) -rich effluents depends on multiple factors, including microbial interactions and operational conditions. The high complexity of these systems necessitates the use of mathematical modelling tools to better understand the process and predict the long-term impacts of various operational variables. In this work, a mathematical model describing the long-term operation of a sulfate-fed 2.

Frailty is a common condition among older individuals and is associated with increased vulnerability to adverse health outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted the impact of viral infections on frail populations. The present work aimed to determine frailty, functional and cognitive status, and clinical analysis of older persons in a long-term care facility in Chile, before and following the outbreak of COVID-19.

Background: Generalised pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a chronic, systemic, neutrophilic inflammatory disease. A previous Delphi panel established areas of consensus on GPP, although patient perspectives were not included, and aspects of treatment goals remain unclear.
Objectives: To identify and achieve consensus on refined, specific treatment goals for GPP treatment via a Delphi panel with patient participation.

This study investigated the importance of comprehensive genetic diagnosis in pediatric B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). We analyzed 175 B-ALL employing karyotyping, FISH, MLPA, targeted next-generation sequencing (t-NGS), and Optical Genome Mapping (OGM). This approach achieved an 83% classification rate, identifying 17 distinct genetic subtypes.

Prion diseases, particularly sporadic cases, pose a challenge due to their complex nature and heterogeneity. The underlying mechanism of the spontaneous conversion from PrPC to PrPSc, the hallmark of prion diseases, remains elusive. To shed light on this process and the involvement of cofactors, we have developed an in vitro system that faithfully mimics spontaneous prion misfolding using minimal components.

CD30-directed CART cell therapy (CART30) has limited efficacy in relapsed or refractory patients with CD30+ lymphoma, with a low proportion of durable responses. We have developed an academic CART30 cell product (HSP-CAR30) by combining strategies to improve performance. HSP-CAR30 targets a proximal epitope within the non-soluble part of CD30, and the manufacturing process includes a modulation of ex vivo T cell activation, as well as the addition of interleukin-21 to IL-7 and IL-15 to promote stemness of T cells.

Purpose: Tibial valgus osteotomy has shown to be a successful and cost-effective procedure. The advent of image processing and three-dimensional (3D) printing is an interesting tool for achieving more accurate and reproducible results. The aim of our study was to compare the accuracy of the conventional technique and the use of customized guides in the correction of tibial deformities in tibial varus patients, the surgical and clinical benefits, and the impact of treatment in the outpatient setting.
