Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the most widespread infectious diseases in the world, with high mortality and morbidity rates, contributing to a significant disease burden, particularly in developing countries. The aim of this study was to determine the risk factors of TB among the population aged 17 years (late adolescent) and above in one of the high TB prevalence countries, Indonesia. A case-control study was conducted in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, involving newly diagnosed pulmonary TB patients who visited one of the eleven community health centers in Banda Aceh.

Background: Identifying active tuberculosis (ATB) from latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) persists as a challenge, and interferon-γ inducible protein-10 (IP-10) has been employed as the solution. To further improve its diagnostic performance, the sample can be stimulated with TB specific antigen (TBAg).
Aim: To perform meta-analysis on diagnostic accuracy of unstimulated and TBAg-stimulated IP-10 in differentiating ATB from LTBI.

Background: The emerging role of vitamin D has drawn the attention of researchers around the world, including its involvement in cardiovascular complications among individuals with diabetes.
Aim: This study aimed to obtain comprehensive evidence on the association between serum vitamin D level and the risk of cardiovascular disease among patients with diabetes.
Methods: Systematic search was performed on July 1st, 2023, to identify and screen published literature reporting the association between vitamin D and cardiovascular disease among diabetic patients in six databases.

Background: During health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, shortages of health care workers often occur. Recruiting students as volunteers could be an option, but it is uncertain whether the idea is well-accepted.
Objective: This study aims to estimate the global rate of willingness to volunteer among medical and health students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Inability to understand the pathogenesis of severe dengue, in particular the control mechanism of immune responses, has led to high mortality rate for patients with dengue shock syndrome (DSS). The aim of this study was to determine the control mechanism of cytokine production by mediator suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS), toll-like receptor 3 (TLR-3) and nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) during DENV infection. Peripheral blood mononuclear blood cells (PBMC), isolated from healthy individuals, were infected with dengue virus (DENV)-2 strain SJN-006 Cosmopolitan genotype (isolated from Bali, Indonesia).

Aceh Health Insurance (-JKA) has been implemented since 2010 to increase the health equity by covering the health expenses and guaranteeing that all Acehnese are covered regardless of their economic, educational, and social statuses. However, since its implementation, there has been no study on its impact on health quality, particularly regarding the utilization of the main referral hospital (Dr Zainoel Abidin Hospital located in Banda Aceh) and the effects of the geographic accessibility and the number of specialist doctors in each regency/city on hospital utilization. This retrospective study assessed the equity factors during the Aceh Health Insurance implementation and during its integration to National Health Insurance (-JKN) from 2013 to 2021 using data of travel time (time spent for travelling from the origin regency/city of referred patients to the main referral center) and healthcare resources (number of specialist doctors).

Growth hormone treatment has effectively restored normal growth in children with growth hormone deficiency (GHD); however, it poses challenges in compliance with a daily growth hormone injection regimen, leading to low adherence and persistence rates. Once-weekly Somapacitan is a potential alternative for treating children with GHD. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and adherence of once-weekly subcutaneous Somapacitan compared to daily growth hormone injection in prepubertal children with GHD.

An edible sea cucumber has been hypothesized to have medicinal benefits against hyperuricemia owing to its bioactive compounds, including mono- and poly-unsaturated fatty acids.
