Background: Direct acting antivirals (DAAs) have demonstrated remarkable efficacy, in achieving hepatitis C viral (HCV) elimination rates higher than 90%. One particular concern associated with treatment failure is the emergence of resistance associated substitutions (RASs) in the genome. The occurrence of RASs highlights the adaptability and resilience of the HCV.

Background: Studies regarding hypercoagulation in Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION) patients have produced conflicting results. With a presumption that the early coagulation phase may affect the occurrence of NAION, this study aims to investigate the early coagulation markers, E-selectin and P-selectin, to determine whether these biomolecular changes play a significant role in NAION, thus potentially leading to a better clinical approach.
Methods: A cross-sectional study involving two groups of NAION subjects, a hypercoagulation group and a non-hypercoagulation group, was conducted in the Neuro-Ophthalmology Division, Department of Ophthalmology, FKUI-RSCM Kirana from October 2020 to April 2022.

Background: Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO) ocular abnormalities can persist even after treatment, negatively impacting patients' psychological and social health. The Indonesian Graves' Ophthalmopathy Quality of Life (GO-QoL) Questionnaire has not been validated, hence it cannot measure patient quality of life, which is crucial to GO treatment. We aimed to provide a reliable Indonesian GO-QoL Questionnaire and identify an association between patient quality of life and clinical activity and the severity of GO.

Introduction: The Stigma Assessment and Reduction of Impact (SARI) Stigma Scale is an instrument developed to evaluate stigma in Leprosy patients. Despite existing versions in Indonesian, the absence of an endemic area language version of a reliable assessment tool presents a barrier to effective interventions in regions like Ambon. This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Ambonese-Malay Language of SARI Stigma Scale questionnaire.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most prevalent thyroid neoplasm, classified into BRAF-like and RAS-like subtypes. Nuclear alterations serve as a diagnostic criterion of PTC and are fully manifested in BRAF-like. This single-center retrospective study aimed to assess the different presentation of nuclear features in 40 samples of BRAFV600E- and 40 samples of RAS-mutated PTCs using both bivariate and multivariate analytic approaches.

Water systems can act as an important reservoir for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can pose public health risks during human contact. Carbapenem resistance is one of the most concerning resistances in P. aeruginosa making it a high-priority pathogen according to the World Health Organization (WHO), due to its ability to cause difficult-to-treat infections.

Purpose: Identifying comprehensively the evidence of neuroprotective effects of memantine for preserving cognitive function in brain metastasis patients receiving whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT).
Methods: We searched randomized clinical trials (RCTs) analyzing the effects of memantine to preserve cognitive function in patients with brain metastasis treated with WBRT, performed in some databases, including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library. The protocol was registered at PROSPERO (CRD42023476632).

Background: Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is a fragmented DNA that is released into the blood through necrosis, apoptosis, phagocytosis, or active secretion. cfDNA includes a subclass called circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) released from cancer cells and constitutes a varied proportion of the total cfDNA. Both cfDNA and ctDNA hold significant potential as diagnostic biomarkers in gastrointestinal cancers.

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease, and podocytopathy is an early manifestation of DKD characterized by the urinary excretion of podocyte-specific proteins, such as nephrin and podocin. Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA)-a biomarker of endothelial dysfunction-is associated with progressive kidney dysfunction. However, the mechanism of endothelial dysfunction in DKD progression is unclear.

: Effective oral feeding is one of the critical milestones that must be achieved by preterm infants. While gestational age and birth weight have been recognized as influential factors, recent studies have found additional variables impacting the achievement of full oral feeding (FOF). This study is aimed at describing factors associated with the attainment of FOF in preterm infants.

Objective: This study aimed to prove the effectiveness of physiological flexion swaddling and oromotor interventions in terms of the duration needed to achieve the oral feeding ability of preterm infants in the NICU.
Methods: A randomized clinical trial in five Neonatal intensive care units (NICU) was performed involving 70 preterm infants born at 28-34 weeks gestational age. Participants were allocated to 1) the experimental group (n = 39) received physiological flexion swaddling and oromotor interventions, and 2) the control group (n = 31) received conventional swaddling and oromotor interventions.

Introduction: This prospective cohort study aims to investigate the hearing dynamics and the changes in the central auditory pathways in infants with congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection.
Materials And Methods: cCMV-infected neonates aged ≤3 weeks old were recruited and underwent clinical and laboratory tests to detect viremia and symptomatic infection, hearing examinations at three and six months of age, and radiological imaging of brain auditory pathways using diffusion tensor imaging.
Results: From 26 eligible infants (52 ears), we detected symptomatic infection in nine (34.

Background: While fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) plays an essential role in the screening of thyroid nodules, core needle biopsy (CNB) acts as an alternative method to address FNAC limitations. However, diagnosing thyroid CNB samples can be challenging due to variations in background and levels of experience. Effective training is indispensable to mitigate this challenge.

Pseudoaneurysms are false aneurysms that mostly occur at the site of arterial injury. Pseudoaneurysm is the most frequent complication after catheter-associated interventions and occurs because of an insufficient closure of the puncture site. However, there are several reported cases of patients with pseudoaneurysm without a prior history of vascular intervention.

Background: Antibiotic resistance is the main problem in infectious disease management. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria could be carried by admitted patients and become a source of spread in the hospital, causing infections in other patients or the patients themselves. However, the screening of MDR bacteria has not been a standard in developing countries.

Background: Diagnosis of infection in advanced solid tumor patients can be challenging since signs and symptoms might be overlapping due to paraneoplastic condition. Delay diagnosis of existing infection can lead to more severe conditions and increased mortality. Procalcitonin (PCT) has been used to support the diagnosis of bacterial infection and sepsis.

Paraneoplastic syndrome is a broad spectrum of signs and symptoms due to neoplasm, attributed to substances produced by tumor cells, or in response to it. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a well-known paraneoplastic neurological syndrome (PNS), frequently associated with thymic abnormalities, but rarely reported in patients with lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma. This study presents the case of a 52-year-old Indonesian male patient who was diagnosed with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare B-cell neoplasm, after developing a new onset of MG with myasthenic crisis.
