Background: A mobile health (mHealth) application can encourage parents and pediatric patients to be involved in caring for their child's health condition by providing the ability to identify and actively manage chemotherapy-related symptoms in their child. Several monitoring systems available today are diverse in features and system basis. This study aimed to develop and trial the Chemo Assist for Children (CAC) mHealth application for symptom management in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

May 2023

Centre of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta City, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Article Synopsis
  • Healthcare workers in Indonesia are at significant risk for tuberculosis (TB), particularly in high-burden settings; there is limited data on TB prevalence among them.
  • A study conducted in Yogyakarta province found that 25% of participating healthcare workers had TB infection (TBI), with male workers, those in hospital settings, and older individuals being at greater risk.
  • This highlights the need for targeted prevention and control measures for healthcare workers, as well as tailored screening programs to address their vulnerability to TB.

  • Batik is an ancient resist-dyeing technique in Indonesia, but its informal nature leads to a lack of safety and health regulations for workers.
  • A study examined health risks in batik workers, revealing that 27.5% suffered from occupational skin diseases, primarily contact dermatitis, due to exposure to irritants and allergens.
  • Only a quarter of workers consistently used personal protective equipment (PPE), especially during processes involving wet chemicals, highlighting serious safety concerns in the traditional batik industry.

Purpose: On-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) causes myocardial ischemia, through the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and aortic cross-clamping (AoX). Glutamine supplementation protects cardiac cells during cardiac ischemia. This study analysed the correlation between cardiac index (CI), plasma troponin I, myocardial histopathology, CPB and AoX duration in low ejection fraction patients receiving glutamine and no glutamine undergoing elective on-pump CABG.

Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • - Prenatal exposure to traffic-related diesel exhaust particles (DEPs) was found to significantly inhibit lung development in fetal mice by reducing lung branching morphogenesis and affecting crucial growth factors.
  • - RNA sequencing revealed that DEP exposure heightened inflammatory responses and decreased expression of important lung development genes, including Yes-associated protein (YAP) and fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2).
  • - The study suggests that DEPs disrupt the Hippo signaling pathway, leading to restricted lung growth and early cellular aging during a critical stage of lung development, indicating that prenatal air pollution poses serious risks to child lung health.

Introductions: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an X-linked recessive progressive muscular disease marked by developmental delays due to mutations in the DMD gene, which encodes dystrophin. Brain comorbidity adds to the burden of limited mobility and significantly impacts patients' quality of life and their family. The changes of expression of dystrophin isoforms in the brain due to DMD gene mutations are thought to be related to the cognitive and neurobehavior profiles of DMD.
