Smart learning environments (SLEs) have been developed to create an effective learning environment gradually and sustainably by applying technology. Given the growing dependence on technology daily, SLE will inevitably be incorporated into the teaching and learning process. Without transforming technology-enhanced learning environments into SLE, they are restricted to adding sophistication and lack pedagogical benefits, leading to wasteful educational investments.

Smallholders are often seen as a weak point in the development of oil palm plantation production. The quality and yield of their production are considered low according to world market standards; the continuity of their production is irregular; and finally, improving the welfare of farmers is difficult to achieve. However, smallholder plantations have an important and strategic role in achieving sustainable development.

Objective: Between 53% and 79% of women will sustain some degree of perineal laceration during vaginal delivery. Third- and fourth-degree perineal lacerations are known as obstetric anal sphincter injuries. Timely diagnosis and prompt treatment of obstetric anal sphincter injuries can help to prevent the development of severe consequences like fecal incontinence, urinary incontinence, and rectovaginal fistula.

Selikat river, located in the north part of Bengkulu Province, Indonesia, has critical environmental and ecological issues of contamination by mercury due to artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM) activities. The present study focused on the identification and bioremediation efficiency of the mercury-resistant bacteria (MRB) isolated from ASGM-impacted areas in Lebong Tambang village, Bengkulu Province, and analyzed their merA gene function in transforming Hg to Hg. Thirty-four MRB isolates were isolated, and four out of the 34 isolates exhibited not only the highest degree of resistance to Hg (up to 200 ppm) but also to cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), and lead (Pb).

As one of the most productive plantation producers in the world, Indonesia also faces rapid change in both social and environmental systems. These conditions are predicted to become more disruptive to the agricultural sector in the future. Therefore, understanding the impact of social and environmental disruption on smallholder plantations' resilience is vital to formulate a strategy for the sustainability of farmers' livelihoods in this country.

Since the prehistoric era, hematite has been known as a reddish color pigment on rock art, body paint, and decorating substances for objects discovered almost worldwide. Recently, studies about purple hematite used in prehistoric pigment have been done vigorously to investigate the origin of the purple pigment itself. These previous studies indicate that the differentiation of crystallinity, crystal size, morphology, and electronic structure can cause the color shift, resulting in purple hematite.

Background: Cellular senescence may play a role in the development of kidney fibrosis, but its specific association with apoptosis or proliferation have yet to be determined.
Objectives: This study aims to determine the effects of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) on proliferation, cellular senescence and apoptosis in kidney fibrosis.
Methods: A unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) procedure was performed to induce kidney fibrosis in 24 Swiss mice (3 months old, 30 g-40 g).

The primary concern of this research is to perform a microscopic analysis of the natural wax covering banana skipper caterpillar. The scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis shows that the wax exhibits an unprecedented microtubular form, consisting of carbon and oxygen as main elements as revealed by energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopic analysis, which reveals the presence of peaks at 2914, 2890, 1469, and 722 cm and the absence of peaks around 1700 cm, indicates that the analyzed natural wax is a polyethylene wax without the CO functional group.

This paper critiques Jones & Hynes (1950) findings by analysing sequential samples of otoliths from three wild populations of Gasterosteus aculeatus from North Uist, Scotland and Nottingham, England. Contrary to Jones & Hynes (1950), but coincident with the finding of later researchers, our results showed that no true translucent ring formed in the otolith of G. aculeatus during their first summer.

In vitro and in vivo studies of the activity of Phaleria macrocarpa Boerl (Thymelaeaceae) leaves against the therapeutic target for hypercholesterolemia were done using the HDL receptor (SR-BI) and hypercholesterolemia-induced Sprague Dawley rats. The in vitro study showed that the active fraction (CF6) obtained from the ethyl acetate extract (EMD) and its component 2',6',4-trihydroxy-4'-methoxybenzophenone increased the SR-BI expression by 95% and 60%, respectively. The in vivo study has proven the effect of EMD at 0.
