Prostate cancer represents the predominant malignant neoplasm observed in the male population and ranks second in terms of mortality attributable to malignant neoplasm among men. Decursinol angelate (DA), derived from the plant Nakai (AGN), has demonstrated anti-cancer effectiveness through the induction of intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis pathways, inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, having anti- neovascularization, anti-inflammatory anti-oxidative activities and stimulating the immune process. The aim of this study was to determine the IC50 dose of DA on human prostate cancer cell line PC-3, as well as to assess its effects on cell viability and apoptosis.

Effects of iopromide contrast agents on kidney iNOS expression and tubular histopathology alterations.

Contrast-induced acute kidney injury is a common complication marked by reduced kidney function within 48  hours of contrast administration. The aim of this study was to evaluate renal function, anatomy, and molecular changes at 24  hours, 48  hours, and 72  hours post-iodinated contrast media (ICM) administration. This true-experimental study used a post-test-only control group design.

Effect of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise on bladder and type I collagen expressions in diabetic rat model.

Transforming growth factor-beta 1 () and type I collagen play crucial roles in the pathogenesis of diabetic bladder disease (DBD). Moderate-intensity aerobic exercise increases antioxidant activity to help manage DBD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise on the expression of and type I collagen in the detrusor and lamina propria of the bladder in a type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) rat model.

Effects of DELIMA education programme on nurses' knowledge, confidence, attitude, and screening accuracy for delirium in paediatric intensive care units.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of a 4-week Delirium Introduction and Maintenance programme based on the knowledge-to-action framework on nurses' knowledge, self-confidence, attitudes, and screening accuracy for delirium in the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

Background: Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has proved ineffective in treating patients hospitalised with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), but uncertainty remains over its safety and efficacy in chemoprevention. Previous chemoprevention randomised controlled trials (RCTs) did not individually show benefit of HCQ against COVID-19 and, although meta-analysis did suggest clinical benefit, guidelines recommend against its use.

Methods And Findings: Healthy adult participants from the healthcare setting, and later from the community, were enrolled in 26 centres in 11 countries to a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomised trial of COVID-19 chemoprevention.

Introduction: Erectile dysfunction can cause self-withdrawal and decreased quality of life. Patients who do not respond to pharmacological therapy and other conservative treatments are urged to undergo penile prosthesis implantation. Malleable penile prosthesis was the first prosthesis developed, but then inflatable penile prosthesis was developed to give a more natural erection.

The antiproliferative properties of metformin and silodosin have been observed in prostate cancer. Furthermore, it is hypothesized that the molecular pathways related to these drugs may impact the levels of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) in prostate cancer cells. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of metformin and silodosin on the levels of hTERT in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) cells.

Immunomodulatory Effects of Fluoroquinolones in Community-Acquired Pneumonia-Associated Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

Community-acquired pneumonia is reported as one of the infectious diseases that leads to the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The innate immune system is the first line of defence against microbial invasion; however, its dysregulation during infection, resulting in an increased pathogen load, stimulates the over-secretion of chemokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines. This phenomenon causes damage to the epithelial-endothelial barrier of the pulmonary alveoli and the leakage of the intravascular protein into the alveolar lumen.

Multiple lower urinary tract calculi induced by foreign bodies insertion: A case report.

Lower urinary tract foreign bodies are often reported but the underlying causes remain intriguing, ranging from unconventional practices to medical interventions. This condition predominantly affects young males and presentations are varied from asymptomatic, lower urinary tract symptoms to acute obstructive renal failure. We report a case of a 48-year-old male presented with lower urinary tract symptoms and obstructive renal failure.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of intraarterial chemotherapy for non muscle invasive bladder cancer: Promising alternative therapy in high tuberculosis burden countries.

Introduction: Local therapies for high risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) such as intravesical chemotherapy (IVC) have shown a high rate of progression and recurrence. Intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) for local therapies has been shown to reduce progression and recurrence in patient with NMIBC. However, its potential role is limited in high burden countries for tuberculosis (TB) due to its low specificity that can cause wrong diagnosis or false positive in patients with clinically diagnosed tuberculosis.

Effect of SARS-CoV-2 viral infection on male sexual hormones levels post COVID-19 exposure: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: The COVID-19 can affect human testicles, thus will interfere the production of important male sexual hormone such as testosterone. Our study provides scientific evidence through systematic reviews and meta-analyses that focus on the effects of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection on male sexual hormonal disorders in patients post-exposure to COVID-19.

Methods: This meta-analysis was made in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines.

Male infertility (MI) and male sexual dysfunction (MSD) can often coexist together due to various interplay factors such as psychosexual, sociocultural and relationship dynamics. The presence of each form of MSD can adversely impact male reproduction and treatment strategies will need to be individualized based on patients' factors, local expertise, and geographical socioeconomic status. The Asia Pacific Society of Sexual Medicine (APSSM) and the Asian Society of Men's Health and Aging (ASMHA) aim to provide a consensus statement and practical set of clinical recommendations based on current evidence to guide clinicians in the management of MI and MSD within the Asia-Pacific (AP) region.

Giant bladder calculi due to four years neglected cystostomy.

Giant bladder calculi are rare and long-term usage of cystostomy could cause stone formation. Due to the lack of evidence on giant bladder calculi and the long-term usage of cystostomy can cause bladder calculi formation, we provide a case study of a man with a neglected cystostomy with giant bladder calculi for 4 years. A fixed mass was discovered in the suprapubic region.

Epigenetics Approaches toward Precision Medicine for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: Focus on DNA Methylation.

Genetic information is not transmitted solely by DNA but by the epigenetics process. Epigenetics describes molecular missing link pathways that could bridge the gap between the genetic background and environmental risk factors that contribute to the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis. Specific epigenetic patterns, especially DNA methylation, histone modifications, long non-coding, and microRNA (miRNAs), affect the endophenotypes underlying the development of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
