Background: Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is the paradigm of endocrine and neurosurgical emergency.
Objective: To evaluate the comorbidities, risk factors, clinical presentation, pituitary apoplexy score (PAS) and the outcomes of surgical vs. conservative management of PA in Spain.
Background: Patients with aortic stenosis may continue to have an increased risk of heart failure, arrhythmias, and death after successful transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Renin-angiotensin system inhibitors may be beneficial in this setting. We aimed to explore whether ramipril improves the outcomes of patients with aortic stenosis after transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

Theragnostic is a type of precision medicine that uses molecules linked to radioactive isotopes for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In recent years, it has gained significant importance to treat neuroendocrine tumors and is currently being used in prostate cancer. Various radiopharmaceuticals have emerged for diagnosing and detecting lesions showing prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positivity on the Positron emission tomography/computed tomography scan, being the most widely used labeled with [Ga] and [F].

Proteins are biological macromolecules well known to regulate many cellular signaling mechanisms. For instance, they are very appealing for their application as therapeutic agents, presenting high specificity and activity. Nonetheless, they suffer from unfolding, instability and low bioavailability making their administration through systemic and other routes very tough.

Cumulative evidence suggests that zebrafish is a useful model in psychiatric research. Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) enables the reduction of genome-wide expression data to modules of highly co-expressed genes, which are hypothesized to interact within molecular networks. In this study, we first applied WGCNA to zebrafish brain expression data across different experimental conditions.

Background And Aims: Arginase 1 deficiency (ARG1-D) is a ultrarare disease with manifestations that cause mobility and cognitive impairment that progress over time and may lead to early mortality. Diseases such as ARG1-D have a major impact also outside of the health care sector and the aim of this study was to estimate the current burden of disease associated with ARG1-D from a societal perspective.
Methods: The study was performed as a web-based survey of patients with ARG1-D and their caregivers in four European countries (France, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom).

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is common in women with chronic cough but may be overlooked. To determine the frequency of underdiagnosis of cough-related SUI and its impact on women's general health status and quality of life (QoL). Data were analyzed for 147 women with refractory/unexplained chronic cough.

Immunotherapy has improved survival rates in patients with cancer, but identifying those who will respond to treatment remains a challenge. Advances in proteomic technologies have enabled the identification and quantification of nearly all expressed proteins in a single experiment. Integrating mass spectrometry with high-throughput technologies has facilitated comprehensive analysis of the plasma proteome in cancer, facilitating early diagnosis and personalized treatment.

Background: Whole blood host transcript signatures show great potential for diagnosis of infectious and inflammatory illness, with most published signatures performing binary classification tasks. Barriers to clinical implementation include validation studies, and development of strategies that enable simultaneous, multiclass diagnosis of febrile illness based on gene expression.
Methods: We validated five distinct diagnostic signatures for paediatric infectious diseases in parallel using a single NanoString nCounter® experiment.

Introduction And Objectives: Management in recent-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) is to achieve sinus rhythm (SR) by cardioversion (CV). However, frequently SR is spontaneously restored, making scheduled admission unnecessary and causing misutilization of healthcare resources. Emerging medical technology allows accurate heart rhythm monitoring.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to assess the prognostic value of a classification system that includes the presence of ectopic inner foveal layers and other anatomical variables identified in spectral-domain optical coherence tomography for idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) surgery.
Methods: A descriptive-analytic, longitudinal, retrospective study was conducted on patients with idiopathic ERMs treated with pars plana vitrectomy from January 2017 to December 2021. Clinical data and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography images were reviewed presurgery and 12 months postsurgery.

Background: Interferons (IFNs) represent a first-line defense against viruses and other pathogens. It has been shown that an impaired and uncontrolled release of these glycoproteins can result in tissue damage and explain severe progression of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, their potential role in Long-COVID syndrome (LC) remains debateable.

More than 50% of oral cancer (OC) patients are diagnosed with advanced-stage disease associated with poor prognosis and quality of life, supporting an urgent need to improve early OC detection. The identification of effective molecular markers by minimally invasive approaches has emerged as a promising strategy for OC screening. This systematic review summarizes and evaluates the performance of the DNA methylation markers identified in non- or minimally invasive samples for OC detection.
