Nosocomial pneumonia is an infection with high clinical impact and high morbimortality in which Pseudomonas aeruginosa plays a priority role, especially in the critically ill patient. Conventional antipseudomonal treatments, historically considered as standard, are currently facing important challenges due to the increase of antimicrobial resistance. In recent years, new antimicrobials have been developed with attractive sensitivity profiles and remarkable efficacy in clinical scenarios of nosocomial pneumonia including bacteremia, mechanical ventilation, infections with multidrug-resistant organisms or situations of therapeutic failure.

Community-acquired pneumonia represents the third-highest cause of mortality in industrialized countries and the first due to infection. Although guidelines for the approach to this infection model are widely implemented in international health schemes, information continually emerges that generates controversy or requires updating its management. This paper reviews the most important issues in the approach to this process, such as an aetiologic update using new molecular platforms or imaging techniques, including the diagnostic stewardship in different clinical settings.

Objectives: Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) thalamotomy is a novel, minimally invasive ablative treatment for essential tremor (ET). The use of a four-tract probabilistic tractography technique, targeting the intersection between the dentato-rubro-thalamic tracts (both decussating and non-decussating), while evaluating the corticospinal tract and the medial lemniscus, may obtain immediate clinical results with reduced adverse events. Our aim is to present our experience with the four-tract technique for patients undergoing ET treatment with MRgFUS.

Nosocomial pneumonia, or hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP), and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) are important health problems worldwide, with both being associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. HAP is currently the main cause of death from nosocomial infection in critically ill patients. Although guidelines for the approach to this infection model are widely implemented in international health systems and clinical teams, information continually emerges that generates debate or requires updating in its management.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) continue to be the main cause of death in our country. Adequate control of lipid metabolism disorders is a key challenge in cardiovascular prevention that is far from being achieved in real clinical practice. There is a great heterogeneity in the reports of lipid metabolism from Spanish clinical laboratories, which may contribute to its poor control.

This study aims to describe the utilization of Denosumabࣨ, a human monoclonal antibody against the RANK-L receptor, in a mandibular giant cell granuloma (GCG) with a significant local aggressiveness component that was unresponsive to surgical treatment. We present a case of a 19-year-old male patient diagnosed with Noonan syndrome, who presented a multifocal giant cell granuloma with aggressive behaviour resistant to surgical treatment. Due to the functional and aesthetic implications associated with a surgical procedure, a decision was made to initiate medical treatment using Denosumabࣨ.

The clinical evolution of patients infected with the Severe Acute Respiratory Coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) depends on the complex interplay between viral and host factors. The evolution to less aggressive but better-transmitted viral variants, and the presence of immune memory responses in a growing number of vaccinated and/or virus-exposed individuals, has caused the pandemic to slowly wane in virulence. However, there are still patients with risk factors or comorbidities that put them at risk of poor outcomes in the event of having the coronavirus infectious disease 2019 (COVID-19).
