Background: The transorbital approaches (TOAs) have acquired growing notoriety, thanks to their ability to offer alternative corridors to the skull base. However, the limited access and the unfamiliarity with this surgical perspective make recognition of key landmarks difficult, especially for less experienced surgeons. The study wants to offer a detailed description of the anatomy to comprehend the potential and limitations of TOAs.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that only rarely remits in adulthood. While several studies underlined differences between child and adult ADHD, the relationship between adult clinical presentation and early referral/treatment has been rarely investigated. In our study, 100 adults with ADHD were recruited and subdivided according to a history of referral to speciality care or treatment with methylphenidate (MPH) during childhood/adolescence.

Aims: Subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2D) are characterized by a high cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. MG53, a marker of peripheral insulin resistance, has been linked with impaired β-cell function and decreased β-cell survival, and its circulating levels are increased in T2D. Its relationship with the cardiovascular risk profile and mortality in T2D is currently unknown.

Synthetic MR Imaging allows for the reconstruction of different image contrasts from a single acquisition, reducing scan times. Commercial products that implement synthetic MRI are used in research. They rely on vendor-specific acquisitions and do not include the possibility of using custom multiparametric imaging techniques.

Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) is a monogenic autosomal dominant disorder affecting 1-5 % of all patients with diabetes mellitus. In Caucasians, GCK and HNF1A mutations are the most common cause of MODY. Here, we report two family members carrying a genetic variant of both GCK and HNF1A gene and their nine year clinical follow-up.

Purpose Of Review: The aim of this study was to discuss the potential clinical significance of heteroresistance in nonfermenting Gram-negative bacilli (GNB).
Recent Findings: Recently, heteroresistance has been considered potentially responsible for clinical failure in Acinetobacter baumannii infections. This raised a scientific debate, still open, about the potential clinical significance of heteroresistance in nonfermenting GNB.

Objectives: The optimal surgical procedure for long-standing overt ventriculomegaly in adults (LOVA) remains controversial.
Methods: A systematic search of three databases was performed for studies published between January 1999 and March 2022. This systematic review included 12 studies with a total of 318 patients with LOVA surgically treated.

Background: The advantages of the robotic approach in minimally invasive liver surgery (MILS) are still debated. This study compares the short-term outcomes between laparoscopic (LLR) and robotic (RLR) liver resections in propensity score matched cohorts.
Methods: Data regarding minimally invasive liver resections in two liver surgery units were retrospectively reviewed.

Objectives: The disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a key and early feature in the pathogenesis of demyelinating multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions and has been neuropathologically demonstrated in both active and chronic plaques. The local overt BBB disruption in acute demyelinating lesions is captured as signal hyperintensity in post-contrast T1-weighted images because of the contrast-related shortening of the T1 relaxation time. On the contrary, the subtle BBB disruption in chronic lesions is not visible at conventional radiological evaluation but it might be of clinical relevance.

Neonatal pain is a critical issue in clinical practice. The oral administration of glucose-based solutions is currently one of the most common and effective nonpharmacologic strategies for neonatal pain relief in daily minor procedures. However, a varying degree of analgesic efficacy has been reported for this treatment.

The TNM stage classification system was published as a result of a joint project from the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group for the eighth edition of the American Joint Commission on Cancer and the Union for International Cancer Control stage classification system. The Thymic Domain of the Staging and Prognostic Factors Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer received the mandate to make proposals for the ninth edition of the TNM stage classification.

Introduction: Mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency represents a biomarker and therapeutic target in various neoplasms, but its role in biliary tract cancers (BTCs) remains misunderstood.
Methods: MMR status was retrospectively assessed using immunohistochemistry in 163-BTCs patients. We identified MMR proficiency (pMMR)/deficiency (dMMR) according to the loss of MMR proteins (MLH1, PMS2, MSH2, MSH6).

Introduction: A TNM-based system for all types of thymic epithelial tumors was introduced in the eighth edition of the TNM classification of thoracic malignancies. The Thymic Domain of the Staging and Prognostic Factors Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, composed of multispecialty international experts, was charged to develop proposals for the ninth edition. This article outlines the proposed definitions for the T, the N, and the M components and their combination into stage groups.

Introduction: A lymph node map is the pillar on which accurate assignment and documentation of nodal classification stands. The International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group created the first map for thymic epithelial malignancies in conjunction with the eighth edition of the TNM classification, representing the first official TNM classification of thymic epithelial malignancies. The map was based on clinical experience and published studies, but it was largely empirical because of limited available data.

The ketogenic diet (KD) restricts carbohydrate consumption, leading to an increase in ketone bodies, such as acetoacetate, β-hydroxybutyrate, and acetone, which are utilized as energy substrates. This dietary approach impacts several biochemical processes, resulting in improved clinical management of various disorders, particularly in childhood. However, the exact mechanisms underlying the efficacy of KD remain unclear.

The combination of atezolizumab and nab-paclitaxel is recommended in the EU as first-line treatment for PD-L1-positive metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC), based on the results of phase III IMpassion130 trial. However, 'real-world' data on this combination are limited. The ANASTASE study (NCT05609903) collected data on atezolizumab plus nab-paclitaxel in PD-L1-positive mTNBC patients enrolled in the Italian Compassionate Use Program.
