Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), a rare audiological condition that accounts for 1% of all cases of sensorineural hearing loss, can cause permanent hearing damage. Soon after the launch of global COVID-19 vaccination campaigns, the World Health Organization released a signal detection about SSNHL cases following administration of various COVID-19 vaccines. Post-marketing studies have been conducted in different countries using either pharmacovigilance or medico-administrative databases to investigate SSNHL as a potential adverse effect of COVID-19 vaccines.

Minimal residual disease (MRD) is of major importance in onco-hematology, particularly in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). MRD measures the amount of leukemia cells remaining in a patient after treatment, and is an essential tool for disease monitoring, relapse prognosis, and guiding treatment decisions. Patients with a negative MRD tend to have superior disease-free and overall survival rates.

Purpose Of The Research: The aim of this work is to study the impact of lockdown on outpatients’ visits to the hospital pharmacy to collect chronic medication, in order to highlight the pharmaceutical classes concerned and to assess whether a decrease in medication adherence could be observed.
Method: Retrospectively, using hospital dispensing traceability software, the dispensing of drugs during the eight weeks of lockdown was compared with that during the two eight-week periods before and after lockdown.

The clinical impact of individual dose adjustment of mycophenolate mofetil is still debated, due to conflicting results from randomized clinical trials. This retrospective study aimed to compare 3-year rejection-free survival and adverse effects between adult kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with or without mycophenolate mofetil model-informed precision dosing (MIPD). MIPD is defined here as mycophenolic acid area under the curve (AUC) estimation using a limited sampling strategy, pharmacokinetic models and Bayesian estimators; dose recommendation to reach AUC = 45 mg.

Who says Neonatal Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (Nidcap) says observation of the baby's behavior. But what is a Nidcap observation? Who are the professionals who can use this method and what are their objectives? How does an observation of this type take place? How do professionals approach their analyzes with parents? Which babies benefit from it? What does this practice bring to the caregiver who uses it? So many questions that are important to address to better understand the Nidcap observation.

Venetoclax-azacitidine is approved for treatment of patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) ineligible for intensive chemotherapy based on the interim overall survival (OS) analysis of the VIALE-A study (NCT02993523). Here, long-term follow-up is presented to address survival benefit and long-term outcomes with venetoclax-azacitidine. Patients with newly diagnosed AML who were ineligible for intensive chemotherapy were randomized 2:1 to receive venetoclax-azacitidine or placebo-azacitidine.

Background: The Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet may slow cognitive decline in older adults. A potential mechanism could be possible anti-inflammatory properties of the MIND-diet.
Objective: To examine whether adherence to the MIND diet at baseline is associated with the odds of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and changes in biomarkers of inflammation (High-sensitivity C-reactive Protein(hsCRP), interleukin-6(IL-6)) over three years in adults ≥70 years.

Background: Chemokines orchestrate immune cells activation and infiltration during acute kidney injury (AKI).
Objectives: We aim to test whether deletion of C-C chemokine ligand 7 (CCL7), a small chemokine related to CCL2 (MCP-1), may modulate AKI development and progression toward kidney fibrosis.
Method: Expression of CCL7 was quantified in murine cortical tubular (MCT) cells exposed to myoglobin or lipopolysaccharide or submitted to metabolic reprogramming.

Purpose: To assess the likely pathogenic/pathogenic (LP/P) variants rates in Mendelian dementia genes and the moderate-to-strong risk factors rates in patients with Alzheimer disease (AD).
Methods: We included 700 patients in a prospective study and performed exome sequencing. A panel of 28 Mendelian and 6 risk-factor genes was interpreted and returned to patients.

Background: Healthcare use patterns preceding a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Diseases (ADRD) may be associated with the quality of healthcare use trajectories (HUTs) after diagnosis. We aimed to identify determinants of future favorable HUTs, notably healthcare use preceding ADRD identification.
Methods: This nationwide retrospective observational study was conducted on subjects with incident ADRD identified in 2012 in the French health insurance database.

Background: Patients with acute brain injury are at high risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). The benefit of short-term antibiotic prophylaxis remains debated. We aimed to establish the effect of an early, single dose of the antibiotic ceftriaxone on the incidence of early VAP in patients with severe brain injury who required mechanical ventilation.

Background: The effects of non-pharmaceutical interventions in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in older adults remains unclear. Therefore, the aim was to investigate the effect of 2000 IU/day of vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids (1 g/day), and a simple home strength exercise program (SHEP) (3×/week) on lipid and CVD biomarkers plasma changes over 3 years, incident hypertension and major cardiovascular events (MACE).
Methods: The risk of MACE (coronary heart event or intervention, heart failure, stroke) was an exploratory endpoint of DO-HEALTH, incident hypertension and change in biomarkers were secondary endpoints.

Secondary lymphedema (LD) corresponds to a severe lymphatic dysfunction leading to the accumulation of fluid and fibrotic adipose tissue in a limb. Here, we identified apelin (APLN) as a powerful molecule for regenerating lymphatic function in LD. We identified the loss of APLN expression in the lymphedematous arm compared to the normal arm in patients.
