High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) is a chronic and progressive immune-mediated condition, typically affecting young atopic male adults and potentially leads to organ dysfunction and fibrosis. The clinical spectrum widely varies -from non-troublesome dysphagia to food impaction- and hence the rate of misdiagnosis and diagnostic delay are high, especially when presenting with minor symptoms, such as heartburn and acid regurgitation. There have been several major therapeutic breakthroughs for the management of EoE in recent years.

Objectives: Catch-up saccades help to compensate for loss of gaze stabilization during rapid head rotation in case of vestibular deficit. While overt saccades observed after head rotation are obviously visually guided, some of these catch-up saccades occur with shorter latency while the head is still moving, anticipating the needed final eye position. These covert saccades seem to be generated based on the integration of multisensory inputs.

Objective: Some concerns remain about the safety of nintedanib in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA-ILD), such as in presence of comorbidities or in combination with biologic, targeted synthetic and/or conventional synthetic disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). In this multicentre study, we retrospectively evaluated the safety of nintedanib in a real-world population of RA-ILD patients from Italian GISEA registry and the possible role of comorbidities and DMARDs on drug safety and withdrawal. Secondary aim was to investigate the causes of nintedanib discontinuation.

Among the various environmental pollutants, dioxin, a highly toxic and widely used compound, is associated with numerous adverse health effects, including a potentially toxic multigenerational effect. Understanding the mechanisms by which dioxin exposure can affect sperm epigenetics is critical to comprehending the potential consequences for offspring health and development. This study investigates the possible association between weighted epimutations, hypothesized as markers of epigenetic drift, and dioxin exposure in sperm tissues.

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide, claiming millions of lives every year. Cardiac tissue engineering has emerged as a versatile option for repairing cardiac tissue and helping its regeneration. The use of nanomaterials, particularly nanofiber-based scaffolds combined with biomolecular cues like peptides, has significantly improved the compatibility and efficacy of the scaffolds for cardiac tissue regeneration.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune condition characterized by inflammatory and neurodegenerative traits. Recently, DNA methylation has emerged as a promising field of investigation for elucidating dynamics characterizing MS development and progression.
Objectives: This study aimed to comprehensively investigate the role of epigenetics in MS by analyzing the methylation profiles from blood and brain tissues from public datasets.

African green monkeys (AGMs) are natural hosts of SIV whose infection does not progress to AIDS. Since early events of infection may be critical to pathogenesis in nonnatural hosts, we investigated early SIV infection in 29 adult male AGMs intrarectally inoculated with SIVsab92018 (SIVsab) and serially sacrificed throughout acute into early chronic infection to understand patterns of viral establishment, dissemination, and their effect on disease progression. Using this model, we showed that foci of virus replication could be detected at the site of inoculation and in the draining lymphatics as early as 1-3 days postinfection (dpi).

Metal ions have been shown to play a critical role in amyloid-β (Aβ) neurotoxicity and plaque formation which are key hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease. Amyloid-β peptides can bind both copper and hemin and this interaction modulates the redox chemistry of these metals. The characterization of the binding of hemin through UV-Vis spectroscopic titration with Aβ(4-16) shows a significantly higher affinity than that with Aβ(1-16).

Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Graphdiyne-based carbon systems generate intriguing layered sp-sp organometallic lattices, characterized by flexible acetylenic groups connecting planar carbon units through metal centers. At their thinnest limit, they can result in 2D organometallic networks exhibiting unique quantum properties and even confining the surface states of the substrate, which is of great importance for fundamental studies. In this work, the on-surface synthesis of a highly crystalline 2D organometallic network grown on Ag(111) is presented.

The acoustic repertoires of long-finned pilot whales () in the Mediterranean Sea are poorly understood. This study aims to create a catalogue of calls, analyse acoustic parameters, and propose a classification tree for future research. An acoustic database was compiled using recordings from the Alboran Sea, Gulf of Lion and Ligurian Sea (Western Mediterranean Basin) between 2008 and 2022, totalling 640 calls.

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

Aryl-chlorides and -fluorides are common building blocks, but their use in synthesis is limited by the high stability of their Ar-X bonds. The generation of aryl radicals via activation of strong Ar-X bonds is possible through the irradiation of tailor-made organic anions, which become reductants stronger than lithium metal. We report that the combination of visible light with the cheap diphenylacetic acid dianion is an even better tool, showing excellent activity across a variety of complex substrates and providing opportunities for late-stage drug modification.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a mental health condition that can severely impact patients' social lives, leading to withdrawal and difficulty in maintaining relationships. Environmental factors such as trauma and stress can worsen MDD by interacting with genetic predispositions. Epigenetics, which examines changes in gene expression influenced by the environment, may help identify patterns linked to depression.
