A (target) quantum system is often measured through observations performed on a second (meter) system to which the target is coupled. In the presence of global conservation laws holding on the joint meter-target system, the Wigner-Araki-Yanase theorem and its generalizations predict a lower bound on the measurement's error (Ozawa's bound). While practically negligible for macroscopic meters, it becomes relevant for microscopic ones.

This review consolidates a decade of research on fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase domain containing protein 1 (FAHD1), a mitochondrial oxaloacetate tautomerase and decarboxylase with profound implications in cellular metabolism. Despite its critical role as a regulator in mitochondrial metabolism, FAHD1 has remained an often-overlooked enzyme in broader discussions of mitochondrial function. After more than 12 years of research, it is increasingly clear that FAHD1's contributions to cellular metabolism, oxidative stress regulation, and disease processes such as cancer and aging warrant recognition in both textbooks and comprehensive reviews.

Background: Patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures are essential for evaluating disease-related quality of life. The International Hip Outcome Tool 12 (iHOT12) assesses various aspects of hip-related symptoms, function, sports participation, and social limitations. This study aimed to adapt and validate an Italian version of the iHOT12 according to COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) guidelines.

MicroRNAs are well established as master regulators of carcinogenesis and potential biomarkers in breast cancer (BC). In a preliminary effort, we found miR-27a-5p to be significantly downregulated in experimentally derived mammospheres and BC patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas Breast Invasive Carcinoma (TCGA-BRCA) dataset. Herein, we sought to investigate the putative involvement of miR-27a-5p in promoting a migratory phenotype of breast cancer cells, and establish whether miR-27a-5p is associated with patient clinicopathological characteristics.

Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are critically regulated by arrestins. In this study, high-resolution data was combined with molecular dynamics simulations to infer the determinants of β-arrestin 1 (βarr1)-GPCR coupling, using the V2 vasopressin receptor (V2R) as a model system. The study highlighted the extremely high plasticity of βarr1-GPCR complexes, dependent on receptor type, state, and membrane environment.

Our enantioselective oxidation protocol, based upon hydroperoxides in the presence of a titanium/(,)-hydrobenzoin catalyst, was tested for the first time with aryl benzyl sulfides containing heterocyclic moieties (2-thienyl, 2-pyridyl and benzimidazolyl), two of them being connected with the blockbuster omeprazole drug. Good yields of enantiopure sulfoxides were obtained in most cases. Two exceptions of unsatisfactory enantioselectivity in the oxidation of benzimidazolyl sulfides are reported.

Using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of collected by the CMS experiment at , the decay is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance exceeding 5 standard deviations. The relative branching fraction, with respect to the decay, is measured to be , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is related to the uncertainties in and .

An original metal catalyzed CVD methodology assisted by hydrogen plasma for the direct deposition of few-layer graphene on a substrate is presented. Graphene is grown at 900 °C directly on the surface of the substrate of technological interest by carbon diffusion through a nickel film by using methane (CH) as the carbon precursor. Hydrogen atoms in the H-plasma downstream are used to promote the solubilization of carbon atoms in Ni, thus favouring the growth of graphene at the Ni/substrate interface.

Registers collecting data from clinical practice (real world data) have gained increasing interest in recent years in the scientific, administrative, and regulatory fields. The value of longitudinal data collection in deepening knowledge about a specific pathology and its healthcare complexity is increasingly recognized. This article describes the development, organizational structure, and technical characteristics of the Italian Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Register (RISM).

Energy correlators that describe energy-weighted distances between two or three particles in a hadronic jet are measured using an event sample of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3 fb^{-1}. The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.

A measurement is presented of a ratio observable that provides a measure of the azimuthal correlations among jets with large transverse momentum . This observable is measured in multijet events over the range of - based on data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 134 . The results are compared with predictions from Monte Carlo parton-shower event generator simulations, as well as with fixed-order perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) predictions at next-to-leading-order (NLO) accuracy obtained with different parton distribution functions (PDFs) and corrected for nonperturbative and electroweak effects.

A study of the anomalous couplings of the Higgs boson to vector bosons, including -violation effects, has been conducted using its production and decay in the WW channel. This analysis is performed on proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC during 2016-2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 . The different-flavor dilepton final state is analyzed, with dedicated categories targeting gluon fusion, electroweak vector boson fusion, and associated production with a W or Z boson.

The ϒ(3S) meson is observed for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, with a significance above 5 standard deviations. The ratios of yields measured in Pb-Pb and pp collisions are reported for both the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons, as functions of transverse momentum and Pb-Pb collision centrality.

A search is presented for baryon number violating interactions in top quark production and decay. The analysis uses data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}. Candidate events are selected by requiring two oppositely charged leptons (electrons or muons) and exactly one jet identified as originating from a bottom quark.
