Azurite, a natural mineral pigment consisting of basic copper carbonate (2CuCO·Cu(OH)), is one of the Middle Ages' most common blue pigments. Why paintings originally coated with azurite appear blackened today remains debated. Using a non-invasive multi-analytical approach, the study analysed several unexpectedly black-appearing details (objects such as books or clothing such as veils, robes, or mantles) in Antoine de Lonhy's works.

The invasive stink bug has become an important pest of many crops, causing severe economic losses to farmers. Control of the pest mainly relies on multiple applications of broad-spectrum insecticides, undermining the integrated pest management programs and causing secondary pest outbreaks. In the native area, egg parasitoids are the main natural enemies of , among which is considered the predominant species.

Introduction: Recent evidence demonstrates an association between social media addiction (SMA) and aggressive behaviors; however, the longitudinal relationship between these two variables remains not fully understood. The aim of this study was to examine the longitudinal relationship between SMA and aggressive behaviors (overt and relational aggression) in early adolescence and to identify gender differences in this relationship.
Methods: A sample of 568 Italian early adolescents (52.

: We evaluated the 3-year effectiveness and safety of XEN45, combined or not with phacoemulsification, in patients from the Italian XEN-Glaucoma Treatment Registry. : Data from glaucoma patients who underwent XEN45 alone or combined with phacoemulsification were analyzed. Changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) and the number of ocular hypotensive medications (OHMs) were tested with repeated measures ANOVA in last observation carried forward (LOCF) and per-protocol (PP) analyses.

Background: Psychotic disorders, characterized by altered brain function, significantly impair reality perception. The neurodevelopmental hypothesis suggests these disorders originate from early brain development disruptions. Glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) is crucial for neuronal survival and differentiation, especially in dopaminergic neurons, and shows promise in neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric conditions.

In this contribution, we tackle the replacement of the Hg-based catalyst and fossil-derived isocyanate precursors toward the formulation of a more sustainable polyurethane thermosetting resins (PUs), emulating the performance of a fully fossil-based one employed in industrial encapsulation of optoelectronics. A mixed Bi-Zn catalyst and a 71% bio-based isocyanate are exploited at this aim through multivariate chemometric approaches, namely Design of Experiment (DoE). DoE allows us to investigate the effect of different formulation factors on selected parameters, such as the film flexibility and transparency or the gel time.

Background: Supratotal-Resection (SpTR) is a promising surgical strategy in Lower-grade gliomas (LGGs). SpTR assessment, feasibility and distinctive features, as well as clinical benefit at first and second surgery and on overall-survival must be better characterized. The critical percentage of resection exceeding FLAIR margins to obtain clinical benefit and its impact on long-term functional performance are also undefined.

Due to their fast precipitation rate, sulfate evaporites represent excellent repositories of past life on Earth and potentially on other solid planets. Nevertheless, the preservation potential of biogenic remains can be compromised by extremely fast early diagenetic processes. The upper Miocene, gypsum-bearing sedimentary successions of the Mediterranean region, that formed ca.

Climate change is causing a change in local rainfall, which generally brings with it a reduction in rainfall and, consequently, an increase in water hardness. This study explores the suitability and stability of various dextrin-derived polymers for cation removal in simulated hard water conditions. Thermal analysis and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirm the polymers' thermal stability and proper formation.

Maxillary sinusitis is a recognized complication following dental procedures, but its occurrence after orthognathic surgery, such as Le Fort osteotomies, remains less documented. This case report presents a 58-year-old female who developed unilateral maxillary sinusitis 23 years post-orthognathic surgery. The patient was asymptomatic, aside from occasional cacosmia, and was incidentally found to have sinus opacification on a computed tomography (CT) scan performed for implant-prosthetic rehabilitation.

This research aimed to identify the effects of increased temperature and decreased ultraviolet (UV) exposure on berry characteristics and quality parameters of cv Nebbiolo, identifying the potential risks associated with climate change for the quality of grapes and the identity of Barolo wine. This two-year research (2022 and 2023) was performed in three vineyards, located at different elevations in La Morra (Piedmont, northwestern Italy), monitored from the beginning of veraison to harvest. A split-plot design was set up, applying a passive greenhouse amplifying temperature in the bunch zone ('T' = increased temperature; 'C' = control temperature) and UV-blocking plastics over individual bunches ('1' = full UV exposure; '0' = UV-blocked).

In a conifer forest in Central Italy burnt by wildfire in 2017, shallow sub-surface (topmost 5 cm) soil temperature and soil moisture (% volumetric water content) were measured during summer 2022. Various distances from downed trees (natural barriers) and log erosion barriers (artificial barriers) were sampled. Additional data on the hour of sampling, barriers characteristics, and barriers location were collected.

Soil biogenic components are subject to continuous sequestration, and export from soils into the surrounding air and water environments. However, the processes involving the stability or lability of their mineral states remain still unclear. To assess these issues, we have measured various biogenic components in a number of agricultural, forest, grassland, and deep soils, as well as desert sands from Inner Mongolia, both in the solid state and liquid extracts.

We propose a simple numerical model for the motion of microswimmers based on the immersed boundary method. The swimmer, either pusher or puller, is represented by a distribution of point forces corresponding to the body and the flagellum. We study in particular the minimal model consisting of only three beads (two for the body and one for the flagellum) connected by rigid, inextensible links.

The Kerr nonlinearity allows for exact analytic soliton solutions in 1+1D. While nothing excludes that these solitons form in naturally occurring real-world 3D settings as solitary walls or stripes, their observation had previously been considered unfeasible because of the strong transverse instability intrinsic to the extended nonlinear perturbation. We report the observation of solitons that are fully compatible with the 1+1D Kerr paradigm limit hosted in a 2+1D system.

Purpose: Posterior pelvic ring lesions are a common finding in patients with pelvic trauma, representing a challenging condition for trauma surgeons. Surgical options are different and there is not yet evidence about the best option. Aim of the study are: (i) to compare Lumbopelvic fixation (LPF) and ilio-sacral screw fixation (ISS) regarding clinical and radiological outcome in unstable posterior pelvic ring injuries, both as whole population and single similar fracture types according to Tile classification (C1vsC1, C2vsC2, C3vsC3); (ii) to analyze clinical outcomes and complications in lumbopelvic fixation group, comparing open and closed reduction technique.
