Background And Objective: Dysfunction of the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) is a common long-term complication following surgical repair in patients with congenital heart disease. Transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation (TPVI) offers a viable alternative to surgical pulmonary valve replacement (SPVR) for treating pulmonary regurgitation but not all RVOT anatomies are suitable for TPVI. To identify a suitable landing zone (LZ) for TPVI, three-dimensional multiphase (4D) computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate the size, shape, and dynamic behavior of the RVOT throughout the cardiac cycle.

Understanding the collective dynamics behind the success of ideas, products, behaviors, and social actors is critical for decision-making across diverse contexts, including hiring, funding, career choices, and the design of interventions for social change. Methodological advances and the increasing availability of big data now allow for a broader and deeper understanding of the key facets of success. Recent studies unveil regularities beneath the collective dynamics of success, pinpoint underlying mechanisms, and even enable predictions of success across diverse domains, including science, technology, business, and the arts.

The emergence of the disruption score provides a new perspective that differs from traditional metrics of citations and novelty in research evaluation. Motivated by current studies on the differences among these metrics, we examine the relationship between disruption scores and citation counts. Intuitively, one would expect disruptive scientific work to be rewarded by high volumes of citations and, symmetrically, impactful work to also be disruptive.

Background: Previous studies have strongly suggested that stent-graft deployment and acute arch angulation increase aortic stiffness, the impact of surgical interposition grafting remains unclear. We investigated the impact of open surgery on aortic stiffness and compared this with stent-graft induced aortic stiffening, utilising an ex vivo model.
Methods: Porcine thoracic aortas were connected to a mock circulatory loop.

complex is an endangered freshwater crayfish species in Europe and the assessment of the health status of its wild populations is essential for conservation purposes. The two microsporidia and have been reported to cause in complex a chronic parasitic infection, known as ‘porcelain disease’, which reduces population fitness and leads the host to death. Due to the similar macroscopic signs produced, molecular biology analyses are required to unambiguously distinguish between these microsporidia.

IgG4-related disease is a rare fibroinflammatory condition. Prompt recognition is fundamental to initiate treatment and to prevent organ damage. Diagnostic and classification criteria are primarily intended for use by clinicians with established expertise in IgG4-related disease.

Cryptococcoid Sweet syndrome (cSS) is a recently described clinical and histological variant of Sweet syndrome (SS). Its cutaneous presentation is similar to the classical form of SS but it includes atypical findings, such as capsular and yeast-like structures on microscopy that are reminiscent of species. However, in cSS, fungal staining and cultural examination are negative, whereas myeloperoxidase (MPO) staining on biopsy specimens is typically positive.

Topical chlormethine (CL) gel formulation was approved by the EMA in 2017 for the treatment of adult patients with mycosis fungoides (MF). To expand the knowledge on the management of MF, this paper provides an overview of clinical practice evidence about the MF diagnostic phase and a collection of clinical experiences to better characterize the use of CL gel in daily practice. Collected cases underline the importance of the concomitant biopsy and clinical evaluation in the diagnostic phase, with the contribution of a multidisciplinary team, and support the use of CL gel as a first-line or adjuvant treatment in selected patients.

We used in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to investigate the composition-performance correlation of Ni-SrTiO photocatalysts active for water splitting. After preparation and exposure to ambient conditions, the Ni particles on SrTiO consist of Ni(0) and Ni(II) phases, with a 4:1 at % ratio, in a metal/oxide core/shell configuration, as confirmed by XPS and TEM-EDX. In situ XAS experiments using an aqueous slurry of the Ni-SrTiO photocatalyst and simultaneous continuous exposure to 365 nm light with a power density of 100 mW cm and the X-rays do not reveal significant changes in oxidation state of the Ni particles.

Introduction: Patellar instability is a common condition affecting approximately 6 individuals per 100,000, but among adolescents, this incidence is notably higher. Trochlear dysplasia has been recognized as the pathoanatomic risk factor exerting the most significant biomechanical influence. Over time, various surgical techniques have been developed to address trochlear dysplasia.

Despite ongoing efforts to enhance diagnostic and treatment processes, the success rate for eradicating infections, particularly prosthetic joint infections (PJIs), currently stands at around 50%. For acute infections occurring shortly after arthroplasty, guidelines recommend a treatment known as DAIR (debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention). This approach is suggested for infections within 30 days post-arthroplasty or with less than 3 weeks of symptoms, provided that there is a stable implant and adequate soft-tissue mass.

Mechanochromic materials exhibit color changes upon external mechanical stimuli, finding wide-ranging applications in colorimetric sensing, display technology, and anticounterfeiting measures. Many of these materials rely on fluorescence properties and therefore necessitate external optical or electrical excitation. However, for broader applicability, the detection of color changes by the naked eye only or without complicated detection instrumentation is highly desirable.

A 41-year-old woman, never-smoker, accessed the emergency room for an episode of hemoptysis in September 2019. CT scan showed a defect of opacification in the left pulmonary artery and a solid mass of 12 cm in the left annex. PET confirmed high metabolic activity in the ovarian mass and, surprisingly, in the left hilar lung.

Prussian Blue nanoparticles (PBnps) are now popular in nanomedicine thanks to the FDA approval of PB. Despite the numerous papers suggesting or describing the in vivo use of PBnps, no studies have been carried out on the formation of a protein corona on the PBnp surface and its stabilizing role. In this paper, we studied qualitatively and quantitatively the corona formed by the most abundant protein of blood, human serum albumin (HSA).
