In this article, we provide a review of large B-cell lymphomas (LBCLs), comparing the recently published fifth edition of the WHO classification and the International Consensus Classification (ICC) on hematolymphoid tumors. We focus on updates in the classification of LBCL, an heterogeneous group of malignancies with varying clinical behaviors and different pathological and molecular features, providing a comparison between the two classifications. Besides the well-recognized diagnostic role of clinical, morphological and immunohistochemical data, both classifications recognize the ever-growing impact of molecular data in the diagnostic work-up of some entities.

The Ross Ice Shelf floats above the southern sector of the Ross Sea and creates a cavity where critical ocean-ice interactions take place. Crucial processes occurring in this cavity include the formation of Ice Shelf Water, the coldest ocean water, and the intrusion of Antarctic Surface Water, the main driver of frontal and basal melting. During the winter, a polynya forms along the Ross Ice Shelf edge, producing a precursor to Antarctic Bottom Water known as High Salinity Shelf Water.

This study examines the aging of industrial crude oil to simulate the chemical transformations that occur when it is exposed to environmental conditions over time. It was triggered by the finding of plastitar - a mixture of tar and plastic waste - on the coast of Milazzo, Sicily. Research began with a chemical characterization of the tar component of plastitar, followed by aging experiments designed to simulate environmental conditions such as seawater, UV light and sunlight.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is commonly treated primarily with pharmacological therapy, while advanced reperfusion therapies (transcatheter or surgical) are considered only in cases of contraindications or failure of standard therapies. Treatment algorithms vary depending on the patient's risk, with patients at intermediate or high risk potentially requiring evaluation for such advanced reperfusion therapies. Critical scenarios, such as contraindications to systemic thrombolysis or failure of pharmacological protocols, necessitate the activation of a multidisciplinary pulmonary embolism response team (PERT) and prompt therapeutic escalation.

The aim of this study was to identify the neural pattern activation during mirror therapy (MT) and explore any cortical reorganization and reducing asymmetry of hemispheric activity for upper limb rehabilitation in post-stroke patients. A box containing a mirror was placed between the arms of the patients to create the illusion of normal motion in the affected limb by reflecting the image of the unaffected limb in motion. We measured the cerebral hemodynamic response using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).

Gliomas of the brainstem represent a small percentage of central nervous system gliomas in adults. Due to the proximity of the tumor to critical structures, radical surgery is highly challenging and limited to selected cases. In addition, postoperative treatments, which become exclusive to non-operable patients, do not guarantee satisfactory disease control, making the progression of the disease inevitable.

We study by molecular dynamics simulations the absorption of polypropylene (PP) chains within a dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) lipid membrane in aqueous solvent. DPPC represents the most abundant phospholipid in biological membranes, while PP is one of the most common synthetic polymers diffused in the anthropic environment. By following in detail the absorption process, and the corresponding structural modification undergone by the membrane, we show how the initial configuration and the PP molecular weight determine the overall behavior of the system.

Discovering novel emergent behavior in quantum many-body systems is a main objective of contemporary research. In this Letter, we explore the effects on phases and phase transitions of the proximity to a Ruelle-Fisher instability, marking the transition to a collapsed state. To accomplish this, we study by quantum Monte Carlo simulations a two-dimensional system of soft-core bosons interacting through an isotropic finite-ranged attraction, with a parameter η describing its strength.

Introduction: Surgical-related injuries are frequent, in fact the reported percentage of musculoskeletal disorders in surgeons is between 47% and 87%. These conditions are caused by long periods of standing, incorrect postures, repeated movements, little rest between operations, the lack of integrated operator rooms, the correct number and arrangement of monitors and the use of non-ergonomic instruments. This survey aims to assess the Italian overview both highlighting how prevalent surgical-related injury is in our surgeons and whether there is an operating room ergonomics education program in Italian surgical specialty schools.

Introduction: Over the past decade, rhinoplasty has seen an unprecedented evolution in concepts, techniques and tools. New concepts have led to new techniques, prevalently but not exclusively related to preservation rhinoplasty, and the use of new tools has made such techniques easier, more precise and thus better reproducible. Power tools can presently be considered only relatively new, while Piezo has gained great popularity over the last years.

We have investigated the shape of the OH/OD stretching Raman band of water as a function of the excitation wavelength in the deep UV region (200-266 nm). By analyzing the spectral profiles, we highlighted selective pre-resonance effects in the high wavenumber component of the OH/OD stretching band, associated to distorted H-bonded water configurations. A van't Hoff treatment of the temperature-dependent Raman spectra provides an estimate of the thermal energy associated to the change from ordered (ice-like) to disordered configurations that agrees with values obtained by related methods based on a two-state model of water.

In this work, we describe the development of targeted polymeric nanoparticles loaded with lenvatinib for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A synthetic brush copolymer (PHEA-g-BIB-pButMA-g-PEG-biotin) was synthesized from α-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-D,L-aspartamide (PHEA) by a three-step reaction involving atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP) to graft hydrophobic polybutylmethacrylate pendant groups and further conjugation with biotinylated polyethylene glycol via carbonate ester. Subsequently, lenvatinib-loaded nanoparticles were obtained and characterized demonstrating colloidal size, negative zeta potential, biotin exposure on the surface and the ability to release lenvatinib in a sustained manner.

Animal health is affected during heat stress as a result of impaired immune responses, increased production of reactive oxygen species, and/or a deficiency of antioxidants. This leads to an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants and results in oxidative stress. Heat stress is usually measured in dairy cattle via the temperature-humidity index (THI).
