The study of transient and variable events, including novae, active galactic nuclei, and black hole binaries, has historically been a fruitful path for elucidating the evolutionary mechanisms of our universe. The study of such events in the millimeter and submillimeter is, however, still in its infancy. Submillimeter observations probe a variety of materials, such as optically thick dust, which are hard to study in other wavelengths.

Modeling how a shock propagates in a temporal network and how the system relaxes back to equilibrium is challenging but important in many applications, such as financial systemic risk. Most studies, so far, have focused on shocks hitting a link of the network, while often it is the node and its propensity to be connected that are affected by a shock. Using the configuration model-a specific exponential random graph model-as a starting point, we propose a vector autoregressive (VAR) framework to analytically compute the Impulse Response Function (IRF) of a network metric conditional to a shock on a node.

Background: Head-to-head comparisons of second and third generations of transcatheter heart valves (THVs) are mostly limited to 2-arm studies and to mid-term follow-up. The aim of this study was to simultaneously compare clinical outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with 4 different THVs at 5 years.
Methods: Patients undergoing transfemoral TAVR with 4 second-generation THV platforms and enrolled in the multicentre prospective OBSERVANT II study from December 2016 to September 2018 were compared according to the THV received.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disease in the adult population. OA is the result of multiple mechanisms leading to inflammation and the degradation of the cartilage. A complex series of etiological actors have been identified so far, including extracellular vesicles (EVs).

The technique of dialysis has seen enormous advancements over the past fifty years, evolving from an initial phase, primarily based on diffusion through a semipermeable membrane to the current preference for high-efficiency convection, involving the removal of several liters of ultrafiltrate. Diffusive dialysis, due to its relative simplicity in execution, has allowed the treatment of millions of individuals with ESRD, ensuring them a certain quality of life. However, it is not considered optimal in terms of survival and has some complications inherent to the uremic state.

Objective: To describe the initial experience with PSMA-PET/CT-guided biopsy in European referral centres.
Methods: This multicenter observational cohort study was endorsed by the Young Academic Urologist (YAU) Prostate Cancer Group of the EAU and conducted across 6 tertiary-level European centres. PSMA-guided biopsies were carried out in a cognitive/fusion manner for all the recruited patients with or without MRI-guided biopsies and/or standard biopsy (SB).

Background: Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) has emerged as an alternative therapeutic modality to carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TFCAS) for the management of patients with carotid artery stenosis. However, certain issues regarding the indications and contraindications of TCAR remain unanswered or unresolved. The aim of this international, expert-based Delphi consensus document was to attempt to provide some guidance on these topics.

The process by which Palaeolithic Europe was transformed from a Neanderthal-dominated region to one occupied exclusively by Homo sapiens has proven challenging to diagnose. A blurred chronology has made it difficult to determine when Neanderthals disappeared and whether modern humans overlapped with them. Italy is a crucial region because here we can identify not only Late Mousterian industries, assumed to be associated with Neanderthals, but also early Upper Palaeolithic industries linked with the appearance of early H.

This preclinical proof-of-concept study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of secretome therapy in diabetic mice with pressure ulcers. We utilized a custom-made hyaluronic acid (HA)-based porous sponge, which was rehydrated either with normal culture medium or secretome derived from human mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) to achieve a hydrogel consistency. Following application onto skin ulcers, both the hydrogel-only and the hydrogel + secretome combination accelerated wound closure compared to the vehicle group.

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration, bright (approximately Jy) extragalactic bursts, whose production mechanism is still unclear. Recently, two repeating FRBs were found to have a physically associated persistent radio source of non-thermal origin. These two FRBs have unusually large Faraday rotation measure values, probably tracing a dense magneto-ionic medium, consistent with synchrotron radiation originating from a nebula surrounding the FRB source.

Cystic fibrosis is a multisystem disease with extremely variable onset, symptoms and course. One of the onset modality but also a complication of the disease is the pseudo-Bartter syndrome, characterized by hyponatremia, hypochloremic dehydration and metabolic alkalosis in absence of any renal disease. This syndrome occurs more frequently in the first year of life and has a peak in the summer.

Disorganization is a nuclear dimension of psychosis, especially in schizophrenia. Despite its relevant association with poor prognosis and negative outcomes, it is still under-investigated compared to positive and negative symptoms, in particular at the onset of illness. This study explored disorganization in youth at Clinical High Risk for Psychosis (CHR-P) over a 2-year period.

The dromedary camel () fetal membranes, commonly referred to as "the placenta", are epitheliochorial, diffuse, and microcotyledonary, similarly to the mare's placenta. The evaluation of the placenta is an essential component of the neonatal evaluation in the equine species. However, post-partum or post-abortion placental assessment in dromedary camels is unfortunately too frequently neglected and, to the best of the authors' knowledge, the dromedary camel species lacks a comprehensive description of the normal placenta's gross morphology.

Depletion or mutations of key proteins for mitochondrial fusion, like optic atrophy 1 (OPA1) and mitofusins 1 and 2 (Mfn 1 and 2), are known to significantly impact the mitochondrial ultrastructure, suggesting alterations of their membranes' lipid profiles. In order to make an insight into this issue, we used hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization-high resolution MS to investigate the mitochondrial phospholipid (PL) profile of mouse embryonic fibroblasts knocked out for OPA1 and Mfn1/2 genes. One hundred sixty-seven different sum compositions were recognized for the four major PL classes of mitochondria, namely phosphatidylcholines (PCs, 63), phosphatidylethanolamines (55), phosphatidylinositols (21), and cardiolipins (28).

Background: The evolution of microsurgery has relied on advancements in operating microscopes and surgical instruments. Pioneering advancements, however, especially within the domain of "super-microsurgery", challenge the limits of human dexterity by dealing with anastomoses between vessels smaller than 0.8 mm.

Negative symptoms in CHR-P people are generally not responsive to treatments and commonly related to poorer functional outcome. However, less research attention has been dedicated to Persistent Negative Symptoms (PNS), defined as clinically stable negative symptoms of moderate severity evident for at least 6 months. This study aims to (a) determine the prevalence of PNS in a sample of young people at CHR-P; (b) investigate any association of PNS with functioning and clinical features; (c) examine longitudinal course of PNS across 2 years of follow-up and changes in PNS severity levels with specialized treatments.

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is under-recognized in First-Episode Psychosis (FEP) and its psychotic manifestations are difficult to differentiate from Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders (SSD). The aim of this investigation was to compare clinical, sociodemographic, and outcome characteristics between FEP patients with BPD vs. FEP subjects with SSD both at baseline and across a 2-year follow-up period.
