Background: Insulin resistance (IR) and serum uric acid (SUA) are closely interconnected: SUA contributes to adversely affects the insulin signaling pathway and contributes to IR, while IR is a known predictor for the development of hyperuricemia. The triglyceride (TG) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio has been proposed as an easily obtainable marker for IR. This research aimed to investigate the interaction between IR and glomerular filtration rate (GFR)-adjusted uricemia (SUA/GFR ratio) in determining CV risk in a large population cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the influence of pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings on axial disease assessment in juvenile spondyloarthritis (JSpA).
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of patients with JSpA with suspected axial disease. Three experts reviewed each case and rated their confidence (-3 to +3) in the presence of axial disease, first with clinical data and second with clinical and MRI data.

Breast cancer is the most frequent non-dermatologic malignancy in women. Breast cancer is characterized by the expression of the human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2), and the presence or lack of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expression. HER2 overexpression is reported in about 20 to 25% of breast cancer patients, which is usually linked to cancer progression, metastases, and poor survival.

Background: The Paediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organisation (PRINTO) recently undertook an effort to better harmonize the pediatric and adult arthritis criteria. These provisional criteria are being refined for optimal performance. We aimed to investigate differences between patients who did and did not fulfill these PRINTO criteria amongst youth diagnosed with juvenile spondyloarthritis (SpA) that met axial juvenile SpA (axJSpA) classification criteria.

Background: Heart failure (HF), affecting 1-4% of adults in industrialized countries, is a major public health priority. Several algorithms based on administrative health data (HAD) have been developed to detect patients with HF in a timely and inexpensive manner, in order to perform real-world studies at the population level. However, their reported diagnostic accuracy is highly variable.

BACKGROUND Necrobiotic pulmonary nodules represent an exceptionally rare extraintestinal manifestation of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), comprising conditions such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. These nodules pose significant diagnostic challenges, often mimicking autoimmune pathologies like sarcoidosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other granulomatous diseases, thereby complicating the clinical management of affected patients. The rarity and nonspecific clinical presentation of necrobiotic pulmonary nodules necessitate a reliance on a combination of radiological and histological findings for accurate diagnosis.

Recent times have witnessed remarkable progress in cancer immunotherapy, drastically changing the cancer treatment landscape. Among the various immunotherapeutic approaches, adoptive cell therapy (ACT), particularly chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy, has emerged as a promising strategy to tackle cancer. CAR-T cells are genetically engineered T cells with synthetic receptors capable of recognising and targeting tumour-specific or tumour-associated antigens.

Objective: To assess changes in gene expression following tofacitinib treatment and investigate transcription patterns as potential predictors of treatment response in patients with active juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
Methods: Whole-blood samples were collected from patients with JIA at baseline and after 18 weeks of open-label tofacitinib treatment. Patients who achieved a JIA-American College of Rheumatology (ACR) response of 70% or above at week 18 were classified as treatment responders (TRs), whereas those with at most a JIA-ACR30 were classified as poor responders (PRs).

Aim: The aim of this study was to assess whether the use of sentinel lymph node (SLN) in addition to lymphadenectomy was associated with survival benefit in patients with early-stage cervical cancer.
Methods: International, multicenter, retrospective study.
Inclusion Criteria: cervical cancer treated between 01/2007 and 12/2016 by surgery only; squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, adenosquamous carcinoma, FIGO 2009 stage IB1-IIA2, negative surgical margins, and laparotomy approach.

Introduction: Risk stratification scores such as the European Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE) are used to guide individuals on cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention. Adding high-sensitivity troponin I (hsTnI) to such risk scores has the potential to improve accuracy of CVD prediction. We investigated how applying hsTnI in addition to SCORE may impact management, outcome, and cost-effectiveness.

Purpose: First-line medical therapy for acromegaly management includes first-generation somatostatin receptor ligands (fgSRLs), but resistance limits their use. Despite international guidelines, the choice of second-line therapy is debated.
Methods: We aim to discuss resistance to fgSRLs, identify second-line therapy determinants and assess glycemia's impact to provide valuable insights for acromegaly management in clinical practice.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is experiencing advances and integration in all medical specializations, and this creates excitement but also concerns. This narrative review aims to critically assess the state of the art of AI in the field of endometriosis and adenomyosis. By enabling automation, AI may speed up some routine tasks, decreasing gynecologists' risk of burnout, as well as enabling them to spend more time interacting with their patients, increasing their efficiency and patients' perception of being taken care of.
