In physiological conditions, red blood cells (RBCs) demonstrate remarkable deformability, allowing them to undergo considerable deformation when passing through the microcirculation. However, this deformability is compromised in Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and related pathological conditions. This study aims to investigate the biomechanical properties of RBCs in T1DM patients, focusing on identifying significant mechanical alterations associated with microvascular complications (MCs).

Given the ubiquitous nature of love, numerous theories have been proposed to explain its existence. One such theory refers to love as a commitment device, suggesting that romantic love evolved to foster commitment between partners and enhance their reproductive success. In the present study, we investigated this hypothesis using a large-scale sample of 86,310 individual responses collected across 90 countries.

Familial hemiplegic migraine type 2 results from pathogenic variants in the gene, which encodes for a catalytic subunit of sodium/potassium ATPase. This extremely rare autosomal dominant disorder manifests with a spectrum of symptoms, most commonly pure hemiplegic phenotype, epilepsy, and/or intellectual disability. In this study, we detail the clinical features and genetic analysis of nine patients from a large family spanning four generations, with all carrying a previously unreported likely pathogenic variant, p.

Disease burden is a critical determinant of outcomes in CAR-T therapy for B-cell lymphomas, and one of the most widely used techniques for its assessment is Total Metabolic Tumor Volume (TMTV) measured via [F]FDG PET/CT. Biological parameters may further refine the risk profile. We analyzed baseline [F]FDG PET/CT scans from 40 patients treated with CAR-T, using an AI-based automated segmentation algorithm to determine TMTV.

Background: According to the European Society for Clinical Oncology (ESMO) guidelines, the therapeutic algorithm for early-stage epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) is primarily based on grading and histotype. Adjuvant chemotherapy is usually recommended for high-grade tumors and for the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage IB-IC; however, overtreatment remains a concern. Conversely, patients truly at higher risk of recurrence currently lack access to additional therapeutic strategies.
