Olive oil production generates substantial quantities of pomace, which are often disposed of in soil, leading to adverse effects on agriculture and the environment. Furthermore, climate change exacerbates plant diseases and promotes the use of toxic phytochemicals in agriculture. However, olive mill wastes can have high potential as reusable and valuable bioresources.

The immunization of mice with the sterile culture medium supernatants of (Mtb) H37Rv permitted the production of several monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) specific for secreted and/or released antigens. Two mAbs bound and immunoprecipitated an 80-kDa protein that was identified by mass spectrometry as Rv1133c, the methionine synthase MetE. The protein MetE is ubiquitous among prokaryota and shows a significant sequence homology in many bacteria.

The iron-based KFeSe superconductor displays chemical, structural and electronic phase separation at nanoscale to microscale, leading to the coexisting metallic phase embedded in an antiferromagnetic host matrix. The metallic character of the system is believed to arise from a percolative granular network affecting its transport in the normal as well as in the superconducting state. This percolative network can be manipulated and controlled through thermal treatments.

Various machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques have been recently applied to the forecasting of laboratory earthquakes from friction experiments. The magnitude and timing of shear failures in stick-slip cycles are predicted using features extracted from the recorded ultrasonic or acoustic emission (AE) signals. In addition, the Rate and State Friction (RSF) constitutive laws are extensively used to model the frictional behavior of faults.

Using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of collected by the CMS experiment at , the decay is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance exceeding 5 standard deviations. The relative branching fraction, with respect to the decay, is measured to be , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is related to the uncertainties in and .

The analysis uses data collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}. Jets are reconstructed with the anti-k_{T} algorithm with a distance parameter of 0.

Obesity is a chronic disease associated with increased morbidity and mortality and reduced quality of life. Pharmacotherapy can be associated with life style changes in increasing and maintaining weight loss and ameliorating obesity-related complications and comorbidities. In patients affected by obesity and uncontrolled obesity-associated complications or high degrees of BMI (> 40 Kg/m), metabolic bariatric surgery can be a valid therapeutic option.

Background: Within the framework of sustainable and effective control methods for Aedes albopictus, two different conidial suspensions, BbCS-1 and BbCS-2 (respectively without and with nutrients), were used as solvents for the biopolymers water-soluble 2-hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) and sodium alginate (SA). In this way, two different classes of hydrogels were prepared for each polymer (previously shown to attract tiger mosquito oviposition) to produce HEC-based and SA-based Bb/Gel systems with and without nutrients. The aim was to achieve a long-lasting and cost-effective lure-and-kill oviposition substrate useful for lethal ovitraps.

The aim of our study is to evaluate the possible urodynamic effect of prostatic urethral lift (PUL) in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia. : A consecutive series of patients undergoing PUL placement were consecutively enrolled in two centers. Inclusion criteria: ≥50 years of age, benign prostatic obstruction (BPO), international prostate symptom score (IPSS) ≥ 13, prostate volume ≤ 60 mL, and no middle prostate lobe.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has achieved notable success in treating hematological cancers but faces significant challenges in solid-tumor treatment and overall efficacy. Key limitations include T-cell exhaustion, tumor relapse, immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments (TME), immunogenicity, and antigen heterogeneity. To address these issues, various genetic engineering strategies have been proposed.

This study focuses on the optimization and comprehensive characterization of biochar synthesized from date palm seeds (DPS), a prevalent agricultural waste in arid regions. Using response surface methodology (RSM) with a central composite design (CCD), we optimized the pyrolysis process by investigating the effects of time (1-3 h) and temperature (600-900 °C) on critical properties such as specific surface area, pore volume, and yield. The optimized biochar, produced at 828 °C for 1.

The low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) lowering decreases the risk to develop major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Therefore, the "fast track" use of PCSK9 inhibitors (PCSK9i) has been introduced in ACS patients not achieving LDL-C target (70 mg/dl) despite an ongoing lipid lowering therapy with statin at maximum tolerated dosage plus ezetimibe or stain-naïve (LDL-C > 130 mg/dl). PCSK9i "fast track" use has shown to achieve the regression of "non-culprit" atherosclerotic plaques leading to a further MACE decrease.
