High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

The Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events (CUORE) is a detector array comprised by 988 5 cm×5 cm×5 cm TeO_{2} crystals held below 20 mK, primarily searching for neutrinoless double-beta decay in ^{130}Te. Unprecedented in size among cryogenic calorimetric experiments, CUORE provides a promising setting for the study of exotic throughgoing particles. Using the first tonne year of CUORE's exposure, we perform a search for hypothesized fractionally charged particles (FCPs), which are well-motivated by various standard model extensions and would have suppressed interactions with matter.

The warm Western Boundary Currents (WBCs) and their zonal extensions are persistent, deep, strong and narrow oceanic currents. They are known to anchor and energize the Extra-Tropical storm tracks by frontal thermal air-sea interactions. However, even in the latest generation of climate models, WBCs are characterized by large biases, and both the present storm-track activity and its recent intensification are poorly estimated.

The projected sensitivity of the effective electron neutrino-mass measurement with the KATRIN experiment is below 0.3 eV (90 % CL) after 5 years of data acquisition. The sensitivity is affected by the increased rate of the background electrons from KATRIN's main spectrometer.

Aims: Interest in the well-being of professionals working in psychiatric patient care contexts is growing in the literature. The aim of this study was to explore the perceived role and work experience of psychologist psychotherapists working in Mental Health Centers (MHC).
Methods: A qualitative research was conducted involving psychologists with a training in psychotherapy working in Lombardy who had at least 3 months of working experience in a MHC.

We evaluated the effects on glycemic control and body weight of a GLP1-RA in obese type 2 diabetic patients treated with SGLT2-inhibitors and other hypoglycemic agents and/or insulin, in a real-world setting. A cohort of 583 type 2 diabetic outpatients treated with a SGLT2 inhibitor and/or other anti-diabetic medications were examined. Because patients had suboptimal glycemic control, the GLP1-RA Dulaglutide was added to ongoing medications.

This article examines the impact of eyelid margin diseases on tear film composition and associated ocular surface disorders. It highlights the prevalence of blepharitis and meibomian gland dysfunction, discussing risk factors and diagnostic considerations. Various therapeutic approaches, including eyelid hygiene, antibiotics, and innovative treatments, are explored.

Background: Cranial vault lesions are common in children, with dermoid and epidermoid cysts being the most frequent. Management is debated due to their slow growth, but early resection can prevent complications and provide a definitive histological diagnosis, which is sometimes linked to systemic diseases.
Methods: A retrospective study of children treated surgically for cranial vault tumors from January 2011 to April 2023 was conducted.
The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

An in-depth study of the substrate effect is crucial for optimizing and designing the performance of two-dimensional (2D) materials in practical applications. Fullerene monolayers (FMs), a new pure carbon system successfully prepared recently, have prompted renewed interest in the question of whether FMs might be exploited to create carbon-based functional materials with improved performance. Here, the electronic structure of a MXene-supported FM was investigated by first-principles calculations.

Background And Aims: The role of vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in atherosclerosis has evolved to indicate causal genetic links with the disease. Single cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) studies have identified multiple cell populations of mesenchymal origin within atherosclerotic lesions, including various SMC sub-phenotypes, but it is unknown how they relate to patient clinical parameters and genetics. Here, mesenchymal cell populations in atherosclerotic plaques were correlated with major coronary artery disease (CAD) genetic variants and functional analyses performed to identify SMC markers involved in the disease.

Background: The global demographic shift towards an aging population is generating a rise in neurodegenerative conditions, with Alzheimer's disease (AD) as the most prominent problem. In this landscape, the use of natural supplements has garnered attention for their potential in dementia prevention. Curcumin (Cur), derived from Curcuma longa, has demonstrated promising pharmacological effects against AD by reducing the levels of inflammatory mediators.

In June 2024, WHO released 'Key updates to the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis: rapid communication', after the preliminary publication of results from two clinical trials: 'BEAT-Tuberculosis' and 'endTB'. All proposed regimens include clofazimine (Cfz). However, a recent paper has reported a high incidence of QTc prolongation among patients receiving Cfz-based treatment for multidrug-resistant TB in Taiwan.

Introducing heteroatoms into graphene is a powerful strategy to modulate its catalytic, electronic, and magnetic properties. At variance with the cases of nitrogen (N)- and boron (B)-doped graphene, a scalable method for incorporating transition metal atoms in the carbon (C) mesh is currently lacking, limiting the applicative interest of model system studies. This work presents a during-growth synthesis enabling the incorporation of cobalt (Co) alongside nickel (Ni) atoms in graphene on a Ni(111) substrate.

Paroxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), may induce sexual dysfunction during treatment and upon discontinuation. The mechanisms involved have been poorly explored so far. We have analyzed, by RNA sequencing, the whole transcriptomic profile in the hypothalamus and nucleus accumbens (NAc) (two brain regions involved in sexual behavior) of male rats daily treated for 2 weeks with paroxetine (T0) and at 1 month of withdrawal (T1).

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

The data are compatible with the predicted background. For the first time, an upper limit at the 95% confidence level of 6.
