Both time domain and continuous wave regime are considered with several combinations of the optical properties (absorption coefficient, reduced scattering coefficient) of the two layers, and with different geometrical configurations (source detector distance, thickness of the upper layer). This study evaluates the response of dairy cows to short and extended heat stressing conditions (from 1 to 28 days), as expressed in changes in their behavior. Due to climate change, heat stress and strong heat waves are frequently affecting the productivity and behavior of dairy cows. Aim: The aim of this study was to synthesize a library of novel di-sulfa drugs containing 1,3- diaryltriazene derivatives TS (1-13) by conjugation of diazonium salts of primary sulfonamides with sulfa drugs to investigate the cytotoxic effect of these new compounds in different cancer types and to determine their inhibitory activity against tumor-associated carbonic anhydrases IX and XII.
Materials And Methods: A carbonic anhydrase inhibitory activity of the obtained compounds was evaluated against four selected human carbonic anhydrase isoforms (hCA I, hCA II, hCA IX and hCA XII) by a stoppedflow CO hydrase assay. In addition, , cytotoxicity studies were applied by using A549 (lung cancer), BEAS-2B (normal lung), MCF-7 (breast cancer), MDA-MB-231 (breast cancer), CRL-4010 (normal breast epithelium), HT-29 (colon cancer), and HCT -116 (colon cancer) cell lines.

This study examines efficiency of a newly synthesized sulfonamide derivative 2-bromo-N-(4-sulfamoylphenyl)propanamide (MMH-1) on the inhibition of Carbonic Anhydrase IX (CA IX), which is overexpressed in many solid tumors including breast cancer. The inhibitory potential of MMH-1 compound against its four major isoforms, including cytosolic isoforms hCA I and II, as well as tumor-associated membrane-bound isoforms hCA IX and XII, was evaluated. To this context, the cytotoxic effect of MMH-1 on cancer and normal cells was tested and found to selectively affect MDA-MB-231 cells.

Purpose: To investigate whether intensive follow-up (INT) after surgery for endometrial cancer impact health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and healthcare costs compared to minimalist follow-up (MIN), in the absence of evidence supporting any benefit on 5-year overall survival.
Methods: In the TOTEM trial, HRQoL was assessed using the SF-12 and the Psychological General Well-Being (PGWB) questionnaires at baseline, after 6 and 12 months and then annually up to 5 years of follow-up. Costs were analyzed after 4 years of follow-up from a National Health Service perspective, stratified by risk level.

We herein investigate the heterobimetallic lantern complexes [PtVO(SOCR)] as charge neutral electronic qubits based on vanadyl complexes ( = 1/2) with nuclear spin-free donor atoms. The derivatives with R = Me (1) and Ph (2) give highly resolved X-band EPR spectra in frozen CHCl/toluene solution, which evidence the usual hyperfine coupling with the V nucleus ( = 7/2) and an additional superhyperfine interaction with the = 1/2 nucleus of the Pt isotope (natural abundance 34%). DFT calculations ascribe the spin density delocalization on the Pt ion to a combination of π and pathways, with the former representing the predominant channel.

A chemical reaction between Sb and N was induced under high-pressure (32-35 GPa) and high-temperature (1600-2200 K) conditions, generated by a laser heated diamond anvil cell. The reaction product was identified by single crystal synchrotron X-ray diffraction at 35 GPa and room temperature as crystalline antimony nitride with Sb N stoichiometry and structure belonging to orthorhombic space group Cmc2 . Only Sb-N bonds are present in the covalent bonding framework, with two types of Sb atoms respectively forming SbN distorted octahedra and trigonal prisms and three types of N atoms forming NSb distorted tetrahedra and NSb trigonal pyramids.
