This study investigates the synthesis of corn starch nanocrystals (SNCs) via sulfuric acid hydrolysis. Esterification of oleic acid (OA) with SNCs was carried out using Maghnite-H as a catalyst, a non-polluting, eco-friendly proton-exchanged montmorillonite-based green catalyst suitable for various chemical processes. Optimization of synthesis parameters, including reaction temperature, duration, and catalyst quantity, was conducted using response surface methodology (RSM) with a central composite design incorporating three factors and three levels.

In this study, we systematically explored the stability and isomerism of neutral and dehydrogenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in various charge states, focusing on anthracene, acridine, and phenazine. Our findings highlight key aspects that deepen the understanding of these molecules' reactivity and stability, relevant in both laboratory and astrophysical contexts. Structural symmetry and the presence of nitrogen atoms significantly impact PAH stability and reactivity.

In samples of (AC), (AHA) and (SJ) essential oils, up to 200 distinct volatile compounds were identified. Using headspace solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography-olfactometry-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-O-MS), different panelists detected 52 of these compounds. This study offers the most detailed analysis of bioactive compound profiles conducted so far.

Introduction: The discovery of the Duffy antigen is of great significance, given its essential role in immune response and various physiological processes. Genetic mutations in the Duffy gene not only affect antigen expression but also result in different antigen types. This underscores the importance of genetic characterization for clinical studies and exploring genetic diversity within the population.

A framework has been developed for dosimetric evaluation in mammography, using the GATE Monte Carlo (MC) platform, to simulate a MAMMOMAT 3000 Nova mammograph (Siemens) available at the University Hospital Center "1st November 1954" of Oran (EHU Oran 1er Novembre, 1954), Algeria. Calculated quantities such half-value layer (HVL), Entrance Surface Dose (ESD) and Mean Glandular Dose (MGD) have been compared to experimental data in order to validate the modeling of mammography examinations. Results are consistent with previous studies and show a good agreement between measurements and Monte Carlo calculations.

Algerian crude oil displays a marked propensity for asphaltene precipitation, leading to solid deposits during extraction, transportation, and storage. The relationship between precipitation and chemical composition is unclear; in fact, Algerian crude oil actually features a low asphaltene concentration, despite its relatively large rate of deposit formation. The rationalization of the precipitation process and its remediation should benefit from a molecular characterization of the crude oil.

Endogenous agonists of the transcription factor aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) such as the indolic uremic toxin, indoxyl sulfate (IS), accumulate in patients with chronic kidney disease. AHR activation by indolic toxins has prothrombotic effects on the endothelium, especially via tissue factor (TF) induction. In contrast, physiological AHR activation by laminar shear stress (SS) is atheroprotective.

Theoretical investigations of the structural, dynamics, and photophysical properties of Magnus' green salt complex and its derivatives obtained with different substituent were carried out at different levels of theory with a particular focus on the structure and the dynamics of the complex in the ground state and the excited state. The present work illustrates the results of both the quantum mechanics formulation of the time dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) (LR-TDDFT-QM) and TDDFT based Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics (LR-TDDFT-BOMD) within the linear response theory. The appropriate choice of the functional within the LR-TDDFT-QM approach appears to be of major importance to get relatively satisfactory results for the photophysical properties and the absorption spectra of such type of complexes.

Human pressure leaves a mark on coastal ecosystems that can be used to study the ecology of marine species. This study compared the trace elements (TEs) composition and isotopic niche metrics of the squid Loligo vulgaris, the cuttlefish Sepia officinalis and the octopus Octopus vulgaris in the western Mediterranean Sea. The results revealed that anthropogenic pressure clearly affected coastal waters and the habitat use of these three cephalopods.

Background: Essential hypertension is an important risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Important candidate genes such as NOS3 gene have been widely studied and reported to be associated with essential hypertension (HTN) in human populations.
Aim: We aim in this study to analyze the relationship between NOS3 -786T/C, a common genetic variant and HTN in a sample of the Algerian population of the Oran city.

A new biodegradable antioxidant active packaging for food applications based on antioxidants from medicinal and aromatic plants incorporated into a polylactic acid matrix was designed and developed. Melt blending processing technique was applied to prepare polylactic acid films loaded by sage and lemon balm leaves. Antioxidant properties of developed active films were investigated using the following methods: 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid), 2,2-diphenyl-1-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)hydrazyl and a home-made generator of hydroxyl radicals.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with high risk of thrombosis. Indole-3 acetic acid (IAA), an indolic uremic toxin, induces the expression of tissue factor (TF) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) via the transcription factor aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). This study aimed to understand the signaling pathways involved in AhR-mediated TF induction by IAA.

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) display an elevated risk of thrombosis. Thrombosis occurs in cardiovascular events, such as venous thromboembolism, stroke, and acute coronary syndrome, and is a cause of hemodialysis vascular access dysfunction. CKD leads to the accumulation of uremic toxins, which exerts toxic effects on blood and the vessel wall.

Zinc fingers are small protein domains in which zinc plays a structural role, contributing to the stability of the zinc-peptide complex. Zinc fingers are structurally diverse and are present in proteins that perform a broad range of functions in various cellular processes, such as replication and repair, transcription and translation, metabolism and signaling, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. Zinc fingers typically function as interaction modules and bind to a wide variety of compounds, such as nucleic acids, proteins, and small molecules.

Theoretical investigations of a solute in liquid water at normal temperature and pressure can be performed at different levels of theory. Static quantum calculations as well as classical and ab initio molecular dynamics are used to completely explore the conformational space for large solvated molecular systems. In the classical approach, it is essential to describe all of the interactions of the solute and the solvent in detail.

Introduction: Cow's milk proteins allergy (CMPA) pathogenesis involves complex immunological mechanisms with the participation of several cells and molecules involved in food allergy. The association of polymorphisms in the interleukin 4, Forkhead box P3 and the avian reticuloendotheliosis genes was investigated in an infant population with CMPA of Western Algeria.
Materials And Methods: We obtained DNA and clinical data from milk allergic subjects during active phase and from a group of non-atopic control subjects.

Metal-ligand interactions give rise to a wide variety of metal complexes with various physical properties and chemical behaviours and numerous practical applications. The ability of the zinc ion to enhance the structural stability of many proteins by electrostatic interactions or by co-ordination with surrounding amino acids makes it the most important metal ion found in biological systems. In this paper, we highlight the importance of non-covalent interaction established between a metal ion and its environment in stabilizing biomolecules.

Chitosan-zeolite Na-X composite beads with open porosity and different zeolite contents were prepared by an encapsulation method. Preparation conditions had to be optimised in order to stabilize the zeolite network during the polysaccharide gelling process. Composites and pure reference components were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD); scanning electron microscopy (SEM); N₂ adsorption-desorption; and thermogravimetric analysis (TG).
