The decision of the Joint Federal Committee on the treatment of hip fractures stipulates that proximal femur fractures must be treated within the first 24 h. This leads to organizational and personnel difficulties in day-to-day care. Therefore, we investigated the question at what times of day we operate to maintain this timeline and whether there is a difference in the outcome for the patients according to treatment hours.

Purpose: PSMA-PET is a reference standard examination for patients with prostate cancer, but even using recently introduced digital PET detectors image acquisition with standard field-of-view scanners is still in the range of 20 min. This may cause limited access to examination slots because of the growing demand for PSMA-PET. Ultra-fast PSMA-PET may enhance throughput but comes at the cost of poor image quality.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors can lead to 'exceptional', durable responses in a subset of persons. However, the molecular basis of exceptional response (ER) to immunotherapy in metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (mccRCC) has not been well characterized. Here we analyzed pretherapy genomic and transcriptomic data in treatment-naive persons with mccRCC treated with standard-of-care immunotherapies: (1) combination of programmed cell death protein and ligand 1 (PD1/PDL1) and cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated protein 4 inhibitors (IO/IO) or (2) combination of PD1/PDL1 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor inhibitors (IO/VEGF).

Introduction: Evidence suggests that mechanical power (MP) normalized to dynamic compliance, which equals power density, may help identify prolonged ventilated patients at risk for spontaneous breathing trial (SBT) failure. This study compared MP density with traditional spontaneous breathing indexes to predict a patient's capacity to sustain a short trial of unassisted breathing.
Methods: A prospective observational study on 186 prolonged ventilated, tracheotomized patients.

Agriculture accounts for a large proportion of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is therefore crucial to identify effective and efficient GHG mitigation potentials in agriculture, but also in related upstream sectors. However, previous studies in this area have rarely undertaken a cross-sectoral assessment.

Recently, we investigated a number of so-called σ- and τ-functionals based on the adiabatic-connection fluctuation-dissipation theorem (ACFDT); particularly, extensions of the random phase approximation (RPA) with inclusion of an exchange kernel in the form of an antisymmetrized Hartree kernel. One of these functionals, based upon the approximate exchange kernel (AXK) of Bates and Furche, leads to a nonlinear contribution of the spline function used within σ-functionals, which we previously avoided through the introduction of a simplified "top-down" approach in which the σ-functional modification is inserted a posteriori following the analytic coupling strength integration within the framework of the ACFDT and which was shown to provide excellent performance for the GMTKN55 database when using hybrid PBE0 reference orbitals. In this work, we examine the analytic "bottom-up" approach in which the spline function is inserted a priori, i.

Background: The histologic classification of rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) as alveolar (aRMS) or embryonal (eRMS) is of prognostic importance, with the aRMS being associated with a worse outcome. Specific gene fusions (PAX3/7::FOXO1) found in the majority of aRMS have been recognized as markers associated with poor prognosis and are included in current risk stratification instead of histologic subtypes in localized disease. In metastatic disease, the independent prognostic significance of fusion status has not been definitively established.

Adsorption-based processes are showing substantial potential for carbon capture. Due to the vast space of potential solid adsorbents and their influence on the process performance, the choice of the material is not trivial but requires systematic approaches. In particular, the material choice should be based on the performance of the resulting process.

Non-nutritive sweeteners (NNS) are widely employed in foodstuffs. However, it has become increasingly evident that their consumption is associated with bacterial dysbiosis, which, in turn, is linked to several health conditions, including a higher risk of type 2 diabetes and cancer. Among the NNS, stevia, whose main component is rebaudioside A (rebA), is gaining popularity in the organic food market segment.

Background: Pediatric meningiomas (PMs) are rare central nervous system tumors, accounting for 1-5% of all meningiomas, and differ from adult meningiomas in clinical, histopathological, and molecular features. Current guidelines primarily focus on adults, leaving a gap in evidence-based management for PMs. This study presents the largest meta-analysis of longitudinal individual patient data (IPD) to date, addressing progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in pediatric patients.

A generalized extraction procedure for magnetic interactions using effective Hamiltonians is presented that is applicable to systems with more than two sites featuring local spins ≥ 1. To this end, closed, nonrecursive expressions pertaining to chains of arbitrary equal spins are derived with the graphical method of angular momentum. The method is illustrated by extracting magnetic couplings from ab initio calculations on a [CaMnO] cubane.

Metal halide borates are promising candidates for high-performance nonlinear optical (NLO) applications, yet the origins of their second harmonic generation (SHG) properties remain unclear. Using atom response theory combined with density functional theory calculations, this study investigates why halogen substitution leads to distinctly different SHG responses in halide monoborates (PbBOX) versus halide pentaborates (PbBOX). We find that the SHG origins vary between these two families due to differences in the strength of the Pb-X interactions.

There is a high medical need to develop new strategies for the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) refractory to conventional therapy. In vitro, the combinations of the blast-modulatory response modifiers GM-CSF + Prostaglandin E1, (summarized as Kit M) have been shown to convert myeloid leukemic blasts into antigen-presenting dendritic cells of leukemic origin (DC) that were able to (re-)activate the innate and adaptive immune system, direct it specifically against leukemic blasts, and induce memory cells. This study aimed to investigate the immune modulatory capacity and antileukemic efficacy of Kit M in vivo.
