Background: Brain drain refers to the migration of qualified professionals to developed countries in search of better living and working conditions, and has become a global concern, particularly in the healthcare sector. Migration of highly skilled nurses results in increased workload for the remaining nursing staff, limited access to quality healthcare services, and contributes to disparities in healthcare. Therefore, nursing students represent a critical demographic group for understanding the drivers of brain drain in the healthcare sector.

Ten novel Gram-negative, aerobic, non-sporulating, yellow-pigmented rod-shaped bacterial strains motile by gliding were isolated from marine organisms/environments in French Polynesia. Three of them designated as 190524A05c, 190524A02b and 190130A14a were retrieved from orbicular batfish () mucus. Online database comparisons using 16S rRNA amplicons resulted in over 95% similarity to the genus .

In this study, we report the synthesis and photocatalytic performance of Co₃O₄-decorated hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) composites for degrading methylene blue (MB) and ibuprofen (IBF) under sunlight irradiation. Using a dry impregnation method, the composites were prepared with varying Co₃O₄ loadings (0.5%, 1%, 2%).

Objective: Given that Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder, with symptoms that worsen over time, our goal is to enhance the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease by utilizing machine learning techniques and microbiome analysis. The primary objective is to identify specific microbiome signatures that can reproducibly differentiate patients with Parkinson's disease from healthy controls.
Methods: We used four Parkinson-related datasets from the NCBI repository, focusing on stool samples.

Background: Acute transverse myelitis (ATM) has been reported as a potential association between COVID-19 vaccination. In this study, we aimed to investigate the association between the COVID-19 vaccination and ATM.
Methods: A self-controlled case series study was performed using a large database that combine the COVID-19 vaccine registry and the national claims database.

Integrate-and-fire models are an important class of phenomenological neuronal models that are frequently used in computational studies of single neural activity, population activity, and recurrent neural networks. If these models are used to understand and interpret electrophysiological data, it is important to reliably estimate the values of the model's parameters. However, there are no standard methods for the parameter estimation of Integrate-and-fire models.

In this study, we develop a comprehensive model to investigate the intricate relationship between the bone remodeling process, tumor growth, and bone diseases such as multiple myeloma. By analyzing different scenarios within the Basic Multicellular Unit, we uncover the dynamic interplay between remodeling and tumor progression. The model developed developed in the paper are based on the well accepted Komarova's and Ayati's models for the bone remodeling process, then these models were modified to include the effects of the tumor growth.

Recent, theoretical studies have shown that placing a spin-crossover ion in a field of radical ligands can induce local superpositions of local spin states (see Ref.[1,2]). This phenomenon, termed spinmerism, raises questions about its stability when spin-orbit coupling is included.

Given the significance of investigating ovarian reserve in infertile women, the limitations of existing diagnostic tests, and the absence of similar studies in this area, the present study aimed to examine the relationship between systemic inflammatory markers in patients with diminished ovarian reserve referred to the fertility clinic of Alzahra Hospital in Rasht in the year 2023. This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 174 patients referred to the Alzahra Hospital fertility clinic in Rasht. Patients were divided into two categories based on their serum levels of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH):AMH >1.

Background: Diabetes, a chronic disease necessitating long-term treatment and self-management, presents significant challenges for patients who spend most of their treatment time outside of hospitals. The potential of digital therapeutics for diabetes has garnered recognition from different organizations. Although some prior studies have demonstrated successful reductions in patients' blood glucose levels and body weight through digital diabetes programs, many studies were limited by including prediabetes patients, patients treated with mostly premixed insulin, or evaluating user engagement outcomes rather than clinical outcomes.

This study investigates the ethanol gas-sensing mechanisms of ZnO nanocrystals with distinct morphologies, synthesized via a hydrothermal method using various alkali sources. Significant differences in the gas-sensing performance and morphology of ZnO samples synthesized with ammonium carbonate (NaCO), hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA), ammonia solution (NH·HO), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) were observed. ZnO were confirmed to be impurity-free through XRD analysis, and their morphological features were characterized by SEM.

Optoelectronic and spinoptronic technologies benefit from flexible and tunable coherent light sources combining the best properties of nano- and material-engineering to achieve favorable properties such as chiral lasing and low threshold nonlinearities. In this work we demonstrate an electrically wavelength- and polarization-tunable room temperature polariton laser due to emerging photonic spin-orbit coupling. For this purpose, we design an optical cavity filled with both birefringent nematic liquid crystal and an inorganic perovskite.

Objective: The objective of the present study was to develop a method for sampling and detecting an adenovirus-derived gene therapy (GT) vector on isolator worksurfaces.
Methods: We used a quantitative PCR (q-PCR) to detect the viral genome in standard dilutions of pure GT product and extracts of sampled surfaces. We compared three devices for surface sampling (a cotton compress, a cotton swab and a polyester flocked swab) and performed positive control, negative control and induced contamination tests for each.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) form a unique platform for operation with data using ReRAM technology. Here we report on a large-scale fabrication of a MOF-based ReRAM array with 6 × 6 cells, demonstrating 50% variation in their electronic parameters. Despite this inhomogeneity, such a "non-ideal" ReRAM array is used for recording binary information followed by deep learning processes to achieve 95% accuracy of reading.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of rumen-protected Met on lactation performance, inflammation, and immune response, and liver glutathione of lactating dairy cows during a subclinical mastitis challenge (SMC). Thirty-two Holstein cows (145 ± 51 DIM) were enrolled in a randomized complete block design. At -21 d relative to the SMC, cows were assigned to dietary treatments, and data were collected before and during the SMC.

Cockayne syndrome (CS) is a segmental progeroid syndrome characterized by defects in the DNA excision repair pathway, predisposing to neurodegenerative manifestations. It is a rare genetic disorder and an interesting model for studying premature aging. Oxidative stress and autophagy play an important role in the aging process.
