Purpose: Breast cancer (BC) brain metastasis (BrM) remains a significant clinical problem. Mucins have been implicated in metastasis; however, if they are also involved in BCBrM remains unknown. We queried BrM patient databases and found Mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) to be upregulated and therefore sought to define the role of MUC5AC in BCBrM.

Dermatillomania often coexists with delusional parasitosis (DP) and can cause extreme patient morbidity. The standard treatment for DP has been conventional antipsychotic drugs; however, their use is limited by potential adverse effects and monitoring requirements. Guanfacine, an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist, has emerged as a promising alternative for patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with concurrent tics.

Background: Neonatal care has advanced significantly in recent years, yet racial health inequities persist in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), with infants from racial and ethnic minority groups less likely to receive recommended treatment. Healthcare providers acknowledge that there are steps that can be taken to increase knowledge and awareness regarding health inequities.
Purpose: To better understand current health equity-related initiatives in the neonatal community and solicit feedback from National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) membership about advancing racial equity within the organization.

As a mainstay of treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), vincristine's side effect profile is well known. Parallel administration of the antifungal fluconazole has been shown to interfere with the metabolism of vincristine, potentially resulting in increased side effects. We conducted a retrospective chart review to determine whether concomitant administration of vincristine and fluconazole during pediatric ALL induction therapy impacted the frequency of vincristine side effects, namely, hyponatremia and peripheral neuropathy.

Objectives: To describe the structure and implementation of a model in which hospitalists focus on a particular hospital unit or area, referred to as 'geographic rounding,' and to analyze its effect on hospitalist efficiency, interruptions, after-hours work, and satisfaction.
Methods: The leadership of our academic hospital medicine group designed a geographic rounding intervention with the goal of improving provider satisfaction and mitigating burnout. Our quantitative analysis compared the pre-intervention and post-intervention time periods with regard to progress note completion time, after-hours progress note completion, secure messaging communication volume, and Mini-Z survey results.

Atypical amygdala responses to emotional stimuli have been consistently reported in youth with Disruptive Behavior Disorders (DBDs; Conduct Disorder/Oppositional Defiant Disorder). However, responding to animacy stimuli has not been systematically investigated. Yet, the amygdala is known to be responsive to animacy stimuli and impairment in responsiveness to animacy information may have implications for social cognitive development.

An apparent redistribution of protein kinase C activity was noted in the particulate and soluble fractions of basal epidermal cells isolated from mice receiving semi-purified diets varying in fat content. An increase in the amount of protein kinase C activity in the particulate fraction and a decrease in the soluble fraction were observed with the mice fed high-fat (24.6% corn oil) diet as compared with those given the low-fat (5% corn oil) diet.
