In patients with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), stage-oriented physiotherapy can be employed in addition to surgery, drug treatment and sclerotherapy, with both prophylactic and curative intent. Apart from improving the hemodynamic situation, physiotherapy aims in particular to preserve or reactivate the active and passive pump mechanisms of the lower limbs, for example, the calf muscle pump and the ankle pump. Consequently the wide spectrum of physiotherapeutic measures includes such measures as compression therapy, anticongestion positioning, massage and exercise, all of which can be supplemented or replaced, as didacted by the condition prevailing, by hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, balneotherapy or climatic therapy.

Atopic dermatitis shows a familial disposition and is characterised clinically by extreme pruritus, typical eczematoid pathology and distribution on the integument, a chronic relapsing course, and a personal or familial history of atopic diseases (allergic bronchial asthma, rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis), as well as numerous other stigmata and microsymptoms. Although numerous exogenous factors help trigger the disease, more recent findings point to an immunological basis. In recent years, numerous cellular malfunctions of immune cells have been reported, with disturbances in T-lymphocyte predominating.

Immunohistological studies of tuberculoid leprosy lesions (TT-lesions) showed a dense, well organized granuloma consisting of a central area with epitheloid and giant cells containing interferon-gamma (IFN-Gamma) and CD3+, CD4+ T helper/inducer (Th/i) cells, a considerable proportion of which expressed the interleukin-2-receptor (IL-2 R). This central area was surrounded by round cells which consisted mainly of CD3+/CD8+ T cytotoxic/suppressor (Tc/s) lymphocytes. The overlying keratinocytes (KC) were strongly positive for HLA-DR antigens on the surface, indicating high intralesional IFN-Gamma activity.

Considering the chemical and physical properties as well as the function of the dressings, standardized dressing techniques can be performed with relatively few materials. This saves both time and money.
