Background: Evidence is mounting that domestic use of disinfectants and cleaning products (DCP), particularly in spray form, is associated with wheezing in children. Beyond the home environment, many children are also exposed to DCP in daycare. The links between daycare exposures to DCP and child respiratory health have never before been studied.

The emotion dysregulation and impulsivity are highly associated with alcohol use disorder (AUD). This study explored the role of impulsivity and emotion dysregulation and the interaction with adult probable ADHD on alcohol-related quality of life (QoL). In this observational trial, we analyzed data from the randomized TRAIN study, which compared efficacy of two cognitive training programs in patients AUD recently detoxified at 5 centers in France from February 2019 to February 2023, and who completed child and adult ADHD screening data (WURS + ARSR, n = 206 of 226).

During meiosis, programmed DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are formed by the topoisomerase-like enzyme, Spo11, activating the DNA damage response (DDR) kinase Mec1ATR via the checkpoint clamp loader, Rad24RAD17. At single loci, loss of Mec1 and Rad24 activity alters DSB formation and recombination outcome, but their genome-wide roles have not been examined in detail. Here, we utilise two strategies-deletion of the mismatch repair protein, Msh2, and control of meiotic prophase length via regulation of the Ndt80 transcription factor-to help characterise the roles Mec1 and Rad24 play in meiotic recombination by enabling genome-wide mapping of meiotic progeny.

Introduction: Primary liver cancer (PLC) occupied the 6th and 3rd place in the world respectively in terms of incidence and mortality in 2020. The objective of this work was to study the survival and prognostic factors of primary liver cancer from 2014 to 2020 in Cotonou.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 150 patients registered with primary liver cancer, in the database of the Cotonou Cancer Registry, over a seven-years period from 01/01/2014 to 12/31/2020.

Background: The health effects of alcohol consumption, particularly regarding potential protective benefits of light to moderate intake compared to abstinence, remain a subject of ongoing debate. However, epidemiological studies face limitations due to imprecise exposure measurements and the potential for bias through residual confounding and reverse causation. To address these limitations, we conducted a systematic review of Mendelian Randomization (MR) studies examining the causal relationship between alcohol consumption and cancers, cardiovascular, liver, and neurological diseases.

We compute the connected two-time correlator of the maximum M_{N}(t) of N independent Gaussian stochastic processes (GSPs) characterized by a common correlation coefficient ρ that depends on the two times t_{1} and t_{2}. We show analytically that this correlator, for fixed times t_{1} and t_{2}, decays for large N as a power law N^{-γ} (with logarithmic corrections) with a decorrelation exponent γ=(1-ρ)/(1+ρ) that depends only on ρ, but otherwise is universal for any GSP. We study several examples of physical processes including the fractional Brownian motion (fBm) with Hurst exponent H and the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process (OUP).

Background: To examine the psychometrics properties of the French version of two scales measuring general (HLS-Q12) and navigational (HLS-NAV) health literacy (HL) using validation methods based on modern psychometric test theories: a Rasch model analysis.
Methods: The data on representative samples of the French adult population came from the Health Literacy Survey (N = 2 003), conducted in France in two waves (2020 and 2021), and from the third wave of SLAVACO study (N = 2 022), conducted in December 2021. A Rasch analysis was performed using a partial credit model with marginal maximum likelihood estimation adapted to polytomous data.

Background: Pervasive translation is a widespread phenomenon that plays a critical role in the emergence of novel microproteins, but the diversity of translation patterns contributing to their generation remains unclear. Based on 54 ribosome profiling (Ribo-Seq) datasets, we investigated the yeast Ribo-Seq landscape using a representation framework that allows the comprehensive inventory and classification of the entire diversity of Ribo-Seq signals, including non-canonical ones.
Results: We show that if coding regions occupy specific areas of the Ribo-Seq landscape, noncoding regions encompass a wide diversity of Ribo-Seq signals and, conversely, populate the entire landscape.

Background: Few studies evaluated the use of Household Disinfectant and Cleaning Products (HDCPs) during the COVID-19 pandemic, but no population-based cohorts used longitudinal data. We studied changes in HDCPs during the first lockdown, based on longitudinal data from the French population-based NutriNet-Santé and CONSTANCES cohorts.
Methods: Based on standardized questionnaires on household cleaning tasks in 2018-2019 and around the first lockdown in France (March17-May3 2020), we compared the duration of weekly use of HDCPs (< 1 day/week, < 10 min/week; 10-30 min/week; > 30 min/week) and the household cleaning help (yes/no) before and during the lockdown period by Bhapkar and McNemar's tests.

Background: To detect preload responsiveness in patients ventilated with a tidal volume (Vt) at 6 mL/kg of predicted body weight (PBW), the Vt-challenge consists in increasing Vt from 6 to 8 mL/kg PBW and measuring the increase in pulse pressure variation (PPV). However, this requires an arterial catheter. The perfusion index (PI), which reflects the amplitude of the photoplethysmographic signal, may reflect stroke volume and its respiratory variation (pleth variability index, PVI) may estimate PPV.

A system for studying the spatiotemporal dynamics of fluctuations in the boundary of the W7-X plasma using the "Gas-Puff Imaging" (GPI) technique has been designed, constructed, installed, and operated. This GPI system addresses a number of challenges specific to long-pulse superconducting devices, such as W7-X, including the long distance between the plasma and the vacuum vessel wall, the long distance between the plasma and diagnostic ports, the range of last closed flux surface (LCFS) locations for different magnetic configurations in W7-X, and management of heat loads on the system's plasma-facing components. The system features a pair of "converging-diverging" nozzles for partially collimating the gas puffed locally ≈135 mm radially outboard of the plasma boundary, a pop-up turning mirror for viewing the gas puff emission from the side (which also acts as a shutter for the re-entrant vacuum window), and a high-throughput optical system that collects visible emission resulting from the interaction between the puffed gas and the plasma and directs it along a water-cooled re-entrant tube directly onto the 8 × 16 pixel detector array of the fast camera.

Gene therapy is being successfully developed for the treatment of several genetic disorders. Various methods of gene transfer have been developed to enable the production of the deficient enzyme or protein. One of the most important is adeno-associated virus vectors, which have been shown to be viable for use in in vivo gene therapy.

Liver cancer, a leading cause of cancer mortality, is often diagnosed by analyzing the grayscale variations in liver tissue across different computed tomography (CT) images. However, the intensity similarity can be strong, making it difficult for radiologists to visually identify hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and metastases. It is crucial for the management and prevention strategies to accurately differentiate between these two liver cancers.

Introduction: According to the self-medication hypothesis, worriers use substances to cope with their symptoms; however, some published results have challenged this hypothesis. The aim of this study is to show if worry increases the risk of SUD when it is negatively appraised by negative metacognitive beliefs.
Method: We recruited three samples: 68 patients with a severe AUD, 27 patients dependent on eating and 42 control participants.
