The Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) network has proposed theoretical minimum risk exposure level (TMREL) for leading risk factors associated with diet that minimize the risk of morbimortality from chronic diseases. TMREL can be applied to develop follow-up or evaluation indicators in individual studies. The validity of these scores can be tested by assessing associations with health outcomes in prospective cohorts.

Background: Evidence is mounting that domestic use of disinfectants and cleaning products (DCP), particularly in spray form, is associated with wheezing in children. Beyond the home environment, many children are also exposed to DCP in daycare. The links between daycare exposures to DCP and child respiratory health have never before been studied.

Herein, we report the synthesis, photophysical characterization and validation of iridium(iii)-polypyridine complexes functionalized for click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry, as well as their versatile applications as probes in bioimaging studies exploiting metabolic labeling. The designed dyes are conjugated to chemical reporters in a specific manner within cells by CuAAC ligation and display attractive photophysical properties in the UV-visible range. They are indeed highly photostable and emit in the far-red to near-IR region with long lifetimes and large Stokes shifts.

The Global initiative for chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) report states that the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) should be considered in individuals with chronic respiratory symptoms and / or exposure to risk factors. Forced spirometry demonstrating airflow obstruction after bronchodilation is required to confirm the diagnosis using a threshold of forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV) / forced vital capacity (FVC) ratio<0.7.

One current challenge in sustainable agriculture is to redesign cropping systems to reduce the use and impacts of pesticides, and by doing so protect the environment, in particular groundwater, and human health. As a large range of systems could be explored and a wide number of pesticides used, field experiments cannot be carried out to study the sustainability of each of them. Thus, the objectives of this work were (1) to measure water flows and pesticide leaching in six contrasted low input cropping systems based on sunflower-wheat rotation, oilseed rape-wheat-barley rotation, and maize monoculture, experimented for three years in three different soil and climatic conditions, and (2) to assess and to compare the ability of three pesticide fate models (MACRO, PEARL, PRZM) to simulate the observed water flows and pesticide concentrations.

Background: To examine the psychometrics properties of the French version of two scales measuring general (HLS-Q12) and navigational (HLS-NAV) health literacy (HL) using validation methods based on modern psychometric test theories: a Rasch model analysis.
Methods: The data on representative samples of the French adult population came from the Health Literacy Survey (N = 2 003), conducted in France in two waves (2020 and 2021), and from the third wave of SLAVACO study (N = 2 022), conducted in December 2021. A Rasch analysis was performed using a partial credit model with marginal maximum likelihood estimation adapted to polytomous data.

Background And Aims: Statin-associated muscle symptoms (SAMS) are a major cause of treatment discontinuation. Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) recommend dose adjustment for statin treatment according to known SLCO1B1 genotype to reduce SAMS. We hypothesized that the association between SLCO1B1 genotype and SAMS is misestimated because of publication bias.

We consider two related tasks: (a) estimating a parameterisation of a given Gibbs state and expectation values of Lipschitz observables on this state; (b) learning the expectation values of local observables within a thermal or quantum phase of matter. In both cases, we present sample-efficient ways to learn these properties to high precision. For the first task, we develop techniques to learn parameterisations of classes of systems, including quantum Gibbs states for classes of non-commuting Hamiltonians.

Within and surrounding high-latitude cities, poor air quality disturbs Arctic ecosystems, influences the climate, and harms human health. The Fairbanks North Star Borough has wintertime particulate matter (PM) concentrations that exceed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) threshold for public health. Particulate sulfate (SO ) is the most abundant inorganic species and contributes approximately 20% of the total PM mass in Fairbanks, but air quality models underestimate observed sulfate concentrations.

Earth harbours an extraordinary plant phenotypic diversity that is at risk from ongoing global changes. However, it remains unknown how increasing aridity and livestock grazing pressure-two major drivers of global change-shape the trait covariation that underlies plant phenotypic diversity. Here we assessed how covariation among 20 chemical and morphological traits responds to aridity and grazing pressure within global drylands.
