Purpose: To compare the results of retinal venous pressure (RVP) measurement performed with contact lens dynamometry (CLD) and with the new IOPstim.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we included 36 patients with primary open angle glaucoma with a median age (Q25; Q75) of 74 (64; 77) years (m/f = 18/18), baseline intraocular pressure (IOP): 13.9 (12.

From the Department of Ophthalmology, Univ. Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, TU Dresden, Germany (Herber, Pillunat, Raiskup); Humanitas San Pio X Hospital, Milan, Italy (R. Vinciguerra); IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy (Tredici, Legrottaglie, P. Vinciguerra); Department of Biomedical Sciences, Humanitas University, Milan, Italy (P. Vinciguerra).

Purpose: To evaluate the repeatability of deformation corneal response (DCR) parameters before and after corneal crosslinking (CXL) compared with their untreated fellow eyes (uFEs).

Setting: University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, Germany; IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Rozzano, Milan, Italy.

Design: Multicenter, interventional reliability analysis.

Bleeding signs due to acquired von Willebrand syndrome at diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukaemia in children.

Br J Haematol

March 2020

Division of Paediatric Haemato-Oncology, Department of Paediatrics, Univ.-Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Technical University, Dresden, Germany.

A considerable proportion of patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) may present at diagnosis with high platelet counts. This may result in thrombosis or bleeding complications due to binding of von Willebrand factor (VWF) multimers to platelets. Paediatric CML is very rare and no systematic investigation on clinical complications of elevated platelets has been reported.

Endothelial-specific deficiency of Junctional Adhesion Molecule-C promotes vessel normalisation in proliferative retinopathy.

Matina Economopoulou, Department of Ophthalmology, Univ. Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, TU Dresden, Fetscherstrasse 74, 01307, Dresden, Germany, Tel.: +49 351 45819291, E-mail:

In proliferative retinopathies, like proliferative diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), the hypoxia response is sustained by the failure of the retina to revascularise its ischaemic areas. Non-resolving retina ischaemia/hypoxia results in upregulation of pro-angiogenic factors and pathologic neovascularisation with ectopic, fragile neovessels. Promoting revascularisation of the retinal avascular area could interfere with this vicious cycle and lead to vessel normalisation.
