Eutectogels are popular as an emerging material in the field of flexible electronics. However, limited mechanical properties and ionic conductivity restrict their multifunctional application expansion. Herein, cationic chitosan quaternary ammonium salt (CQS) was evenly embedded into the three-dimensional porous framework of eutectogel to build ion migration channels.

Background: Despite vaccination, patients receiving anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for multiple sclerosis (MS) or neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) have an increased risk of developing severe or protracted COVID-19. The aim of this study was to describe the effect of COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) in patients with MS or NMOSD exposed to anti-CD20 and infected by SARS-CoV-2.
Methods: This French national, retrospective cohort study was conducted between November 2020 and June 2023.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) involves profound changes in cell morphology, driven by transcriptional and epigenetic reprogramming. However, evidence suggests that translation and ribosome composition also play key roles in establishing pathophysiological phenotypes. Using genome-wide analyses, we reported significant rearrangement of the translational landscape and machinery during EMT.

While cognitive flexibility challenges are frequently reported in autistic individuals, inconsistencies in the findings prompt further investigation into the factors influencing this flexibility. We suggest that unique aspects of the predictive brain in autistic individuals might contribute to these challenges, potentially varying by sex. Our study aimed to test these hypotheses by examining cognitive flexibility under different predictability conditions in a sample including a similar number of males and females.

Over the past decades, the incidence of Parkinson's disease (PD) cases has doubled in industrialized countries. While patients over 70 years old still represent more than half of the cases, the disease is increasingly affecting younger individuals. Environmental factors have been implicated, such as the effects of certain pesticides or chemicals on neurons, such as rotenone or 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP).

Despite extensive research, the features associated with the aging phenotype are not all-inclusive and need to be updated on a regular basis to incorporate new findings. We propose to include the dysfunction of membrane-less organelle (MLO) as a new aging hallmark. Special scaffold proteins with a high degree of intrinsic disorder drive the formation of MLOs via the liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) process.

Background: Breath-hold (BH) training over several years may result in mild but persistent neurocognitive impairment. Paradoxically, the acute effects of repeated BH generating intermittent hypoxia on neurocognitive functions are still poorly understood. Therefore, we decided to examine the impact of five-repeated maximal BH on attention, processing speed, and reasoning abilities.

The most prominent and persistent feature of the eastern Mediterranean Levantine Basin (LB) is the warm anticyclonic Cyprus Eddy (CE) located above the Eratosthenes Seamount (ESM). This eddy periodically couples with two smaller cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies, the South Shikmona Eddy (SSE) and North Shikmona Eddy (NSE), which form downstream. The reason for the zonal drift of the CE center and the formation mechanism of the CE, SSE and NSE is largely debated today, yet the upwelling and biological productivity of the LB can be strongly impacted by the local dynamics.

We propose a neural networks method to estimate extreme Expected Shortfall, and even more generally, extreme conditional tail moments as functions of confidence levels, in heavy-tailed settings. The convergence rate of the uniform error between the log-conditional tail moment and its neural network approximation is established leveraging extreme-value theory (in particular the high-order condition on the distribution tails) and using critically two activation functions (eLU and ReLU) for neural networks. The finite sample performance of the neural network estimator is compared to bias-reduced extreme-value competitors using synthetic heavy-tailed data.

Electrospun nanofibrous membranes made of chiral selectors (CSs) have shown their potential for efficient chiral resolutions via filtrations. It is thus of great importance to expand the number of electrospun membranes made of various CSs for the resolution of a wide range of chiral compounds. Here, the electrospinning of two benzyl carbamate derivatives of cellulose, namely cellulose benzyl carbamate (CBzC) and cellulose 4-chlorobenzyl carbamate (CCBzC), to form a new type of enantioselective membranes for chiral resolutions of racemic compounds, is reported.

Due to increasing traffic congestion, travel modeling has gained importance in the development of transportion mode detection (TMD) strategies over the past decade. Nowadays, recent smartphones, equipped with integrated inertial measurement units (IMUs) and embedded algorithms, can play a crucial role in such development. In particular, obtaining much more information on the transportation modes used by users through smartphones is very challenging due to the variety of the data (accelerometers, magnetometers, gyroscopes, proximity sensors, etc.

The western Alpine belt is the focal point of moderate but constant seismic activity. Numerous geodynamic and seismological studies underline the many scientific questions linked to Alpine dynamic processes and the associated rate of deformation resulting from late continental collision phases, and the assessment of seismic hazard and its associated risks. Seismic monitoring in the northern French Alps was launched in 1987 with the installation of the first seismological network, hosted by the Earth Science Observatory at Grenoble Alpes University.

Mavacamten, the first drug in the class of β-cardiac myosin modulator, is used for the treatment of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This orally administered drug demonstrates wide interpatient variability in pharmacokinetics parameters, due in part to variant CYP2C19 alleles. Individuals who are CYP2C19 poor metabolizers have increased exposure and are at increased risk of reduced cardiac hypercontractility.

Purpose: This study evaluated the performance of three machine learning (ML) algorithms-decision tree (DT), multilayer perceptron (MLP) and extreme gradient boosting (XGB)-in identifying regular athletes who suffered a knee injury several months to years prior. In addition, the contribution of psychological variables in addition to biomechanical ones in the classification performance of the ML algorithms was assessed, to better identify factors to get back to competitive sport with the lowest possible risk of new knee injury.
Methods: A cohort of 96 athletes, 36 with prior knee injuries, practicing an average of 5.

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) consolidation treatment is a widely used conservation strategy for wooden culture relics. However, the consolidation mechanism of PEG is still open to interpretation. PEG-cellulose, the representative component of wood cell wall, interactions are governed by various coupled multi-scale mechanisms which require nano-scale investigation.

Continuous glucose monitors have revolutionized diabetes management, yet such devices are limited by their cost, invasiveness, and stability. Microneedle (MN) arrays could offer improved comfort compared to invasive implanted or mm-sized needle devices, but such arrays are hampered by complex fabrication processes, limited mechanical and sensor stability, and/or cytotoxicity concerns. This work demonstrates the first crosslinked hydrogel microneedle-bioelectroenzymatic sensor arrays capable of biomarker extraction and robust transdermal continuous monitoring in artificial interstitial fluid for 10 days.
