Physicochemical modifications of biomaterials have been proposed to overcome bone integration impairment and microbial infections. The magnesium (Mg) incorporation on dental implant surfaces has shown positive results in bone-to-implant contact and in the reduction of microbial colonization. Here, we explored the potential of using different Mg precursors to synthesize coatings via plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) on commercially pure titanium (cpTi), aiming to optimize the surface and biological properties.

Titanium (Ti) is an ideal material for dental implants due to its excellent properties. However, corrosion and mechanical wear lead to Ti ions and particles release, triggering inflammatory responses and bone resorption. To overcome these challenges, surface modification techniques are used, including micro-arc oxidation (MAO).

Supernumerary chromosomes (B chromosomes) have been an intriguing subject of study. Our understanding of the molecular differentiation of B chromosomes from an interpopulation perspective remains limited, with most analyses involving chromosome banding and mapping of a few sequences. To gain insights into the molecular composition, origin, and evolution of B chromosomes, we conducted cytogenetic and next-generation sequencing analysis of the repeatome in the grasshopper across various populations.

The peanut thrips, Enneothrips enigmaticus (Thysanoptera: Thrypidae), is an important pest of the peanut (Arachis hypogaea) in South America. Due to concerns about the environment and human health induced by the extensive use of pesticides in the management control of pests, environmentally and friendlier tactics must be targeted. Thus, this study investigates, for the first time, the behavior of Xylocoris sordidus (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) as a biological control agent for E.

Aim: Guided tissue regeneration has been considered a promising strategy to replace conventional endodontic therapy of teeth with incomplete root formation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a tubular scaffold (TB-SC) with poly (caprolactone)-aligned nanofibres associated with a fibronectin (FN)-loaded collagen hydrogel and assess the pulp regeneration potential mediated by human apical papilla cells (hAPCs) using an in vitro model of teeth with incomplete root formation.
Methodology: Aligned nanofibre strips based on 10% poly(caprolactone) (PCL) were synthesized with the electrospinning technique to produce the TB-SCs.

Objective: In this paper we propose the association of β-glycerophosphate (βGP) and calcium-hydroxide with chitosan (CH) to formulate a porous bioactive scaffold suitable as a cell-homing platform for dentin regeneration.
Methods: Calcium hydroxide and βGP solutions were incorporated into chitosan to modulate scaffold architecture and composition by a phase separation technique. Architecture, chemical composition, and degradability were evaluated, and biological characterizations were performed by the seeding of dental pulp cells (DPCs) onto scaffolds, or by cultivating them in contact with leachable components (extracts), to determine cytocompatibility and odontoblastic differentiation.

Toxic baits, containing the active ingredients sulfluramid or fipronil, are the main methods to control leaf-cutting ants of the genera Atta Fabricius, 1805, and Acromyrmex Mayr, 1865 (Hymenoptera: Formicidae). However, the insecticide dispersion among members of the colony during the control needs further studies. We studied whether the behaviors of allogrooming, self-grooming, and contact among individuals spread the insecticides among those of the colony.
