Hallucinations have been described in various clinical populations, but they are neither disorder nor disease specific. In schizophrenia patients, hallucinations are hallmark symptoms and auditory ones are described as the more frequent. In Parkinson's disease, the descriptions of hallucination modalities are sparse, but the hallucinations do tend to have less negative consequences.

Whey protein mucoadhesive properties for oral drug delivery: Mucin-whey protein interaction and mucoadhesive bond strength.

Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces

December 2015

Univ Clermont 1, UFR Pharmacie, EA4678, Laboratoire de Biopharmacie, Clermont-Ferrand F-63001, France.

Whey protein is a natural polymer recently used as an excipient in buccoadhesive tablets but its mucoadhesive properties were barely studied. In this work, we characterize mucoadhesion of whey protein in order to determine the mechanisms and optimal conditions for use as excipient in oral drug delivery. Thus, native and denatured whey protein (NWP and DWP) were investigated and the effect of concentration and pH were also studied.

Maps of the adult human hypothalamus.

Surg Neurol Int

May 2013

Univ Clermont 1, UFR Médecine, EA 7282, Image-Guided Clinical Neuroscience and Connectomics, Clermont-Ferrand, F-63001, France ; Service de Neurochirurgie, CHU Clermont-Ferrand, Clermont-Ferrand, F-63003, France.

The human hypothalamus is a small deeply located region placed at the crossroad of neurovegetative, neuroendocrine, limbic, and optic systems. Although deep brain stimulation techniques have proven that it could be feasible to modulate these systems, targeting the hypothalamus and in particular specific nuclei and white bundles, is still challenging. Our goal was to make a synthesis of relevant topographical data of the human hypothalamus, under the form of magnetic resonance imaging maps useful for mastering its elaborated structure as well as its neighborhood.
