Plastic pollution is a growing environmental concern due to its ubiquitous impact on aquatic ecosystems. Nanoplastics can be generated from the breakdown of plastic waste and interact with organisms at the cellular level, potentially disrupting cellular physiology. We investigated the effects of 44 nm polystyrene nanoparticles (44 nm NanoPS) on the development and physiology of zebrafish (Danio rerio) in the presence of sublethal heat stress (32 °C vs control, 28 °C).

Monoterpene indole alkaloids (MIAs) are valuable metabolites produced in numerous medicinal plants from the Apocynaceae family such as Alstonia scholaris, which synthesizes strictamine, a MIA displaying neuropharmacological properties of a potential importance. To get insights into the MIA metabolism in A. scholaris, we studied here both the spatial and transcriptional regulations of MIA genes by performing a robust transcriptomics analysis of the main plant organs, leaf epidermis but also by sequencing RNA from leaves transiently overexpressing the master transcriptional regulator MYC2.

Yessotoxin is one of the shellfish toxins leading to mussel farm closures in the Adriatic Sea of Italy. Two putative Gonyaulax spinifera strains GSA0501 and GSA0602 are known as yessotoxins producers, but their identities have remained elusive since 2005. We determined the concentrations of trace elements including Fe, Al, rare earth elements and Y (REY), in Ascophyllum nodosum, one of the most abundant brown macroalgae in the North Atlantic. Samples were collected in the Bay of Brest (Brittany, France) and in the estuary of its main contributing river. The Y/Ho, Al/Ga, and Zr/Hf ratios display values distinctive from seawater, but similar to the continental crust; an observation which we show cannot be explained by the incorporation of terrigenous particles, nor inorganic colloids.

Ligands combining two lateral bis-pyridyl-phosphonated-pyclens were synthesized, using a flexible linear pegylated linker (L2) or a bulkier K22 crown-ether (L3). A functionalized pyridyl-phosphonated-pyclen (L1) was also prepared as a mononuclear analogue. An in-situ experiment was conducted in a young mangrove with no history of oil contamination (French Guiana). Control and oil-contaminated sediments were sampled one month after exposure and analyzed to a depth of 18 cm to assess natural oil depletion and changes in benthic communities. This paper presents an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) approach for three-phase four-legs voltage source inverters (FL-VSIs) in a standalone renewable energy resources (RES)-based islanded microgrid. The key purpose of the proposed approach is to improve the control robustness against load-side disturbances, power supply parameters uncertainties, and faulty operating conditions. Indeed, a notable benefit of ADRC is its ability to operate effectively without the need for precise knowledge of disturbance characteristics or accurate modeling and FL-VSI parameters.

Despite the growing prominence of transformers in medical image segmentation, their application to clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) has been overlooked. Minimal attention has been paid to domain shift analysis and uncertainty assessment, critical for safely implementing computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems. Sea stars are an abundant group of marine invertebrates that display remarkably robust regenerative capabilities throughout all life stages. Numerous proteins and peptides have been identified in a proteome study on the coelomic fluid (biofluid) of the common sea star Asterias rubens, which appear to be involved with the wound-healing response in the organism. The Easter mantle plume has produced one of the longest hotspot tracks in the Pacific Ocean. While previous studies have focused on the eastern side extending across the Nazca Plate, we use Ar/Ar isotopic and geochemical data to investigate the less explored western side around the Easter Microplate. We propose a dynamic model in which a deeper (600 km-depth), less buoyant mantle exerts a westward force on the East Pacific Rise (EPR), while a more buoyant plume region drives Easter hotspot volcanism and a localised acceleration in seafloor spreading.

Major target antigens of ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) are myeloperoxidase (MPO) and proteinase 3 (PR3). High-affinity MPO- and PR3-ANCA immunoglobulins are produced by antigen-experienced, class-switched autoreactive B cells.
