Background: The results of nearly automated computerized determination of visual acuity by PC are compared to those of card measurements. The introduction of a new measuring technique should not change the dimension--visual acuity--itself, therefore there should be no difference between the results of the conventional technique and those of the PC.
Methods: Both methods were tested in a group of subjects (N = 100) with vision between 0.

For 112 patients from Hamburg who underwent Ruthenium therapy individual match partners were selected in Copenhagen where during the same period of time enucleation was the standard procedure. Selection took place concerning patient's age and sex at the time of treatment, initial tumor volume and the time of treatment.

In cases of pure blow-out fracture with unequivocal clinical symptoms (limitation of movement of the globe, dislocation and/or enophthalmos) and confirmed X-ray findings, early surgery is the treatment of choice. In cases where the clinical findings are less pronounced, a "wait-and-see" policy, keeping the patient under observation, seems appropriate for the sake of avoiding surgical trauma. Coronal computerized tomography offers advantages in cases where the diagnosis is questionable.

When NMR imaging was performed, marked differences in signal behavior were seen between the tumor's center and its periphery.
