Background: Heart failure (HF) has unique aspects that vary by biological sex. Thus, understanding sex-specific trends of HF in the US population is crucial to develop targeted interventions. We aimed to analyze the burden of HF in female and male patients across the US, from 1990 to 2019.

Background: Geographical disparities in mortality among Alzheimer`s disease (AD) patients have been reported and complex sociodemographic and environmental determinants of health (SEDH) may be contributing to this variation. Therefore, we aimed to explore high-risk SEDH factors possibly associated with all-cause mortality in AD across US counties using machine learning (ML) methods.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis of individuals ≥65 years with any underlying cause of death but with AD in the multiple causes of death certificate (ICD-10,G30) between 2016 and 2020.

Cardio-oncology mortality (COM) is a complex issue that is compounded by multiple factors that transcend a depth of socioeconomic, demographic, and environmental exposures. Although metrics and indexes of vulnerability have been associated with COM, advanced methods are required to account for the intricate intertwining of associations. This cross-sectional study utilized a novel approach that combined machine learning and epidemiology to identify high-risk sociodemographic and environmental factors linked to COM in United States counties.

The study of the interplay between social factors, environmental hazards, and health has garnered much attention in recent years. The term "exposome" was coined to describe the total impact of environmental exposures on an individual's health and well-being, serving as a complementary concept to the genome. Studies have shown a strong correlation between the exposome and cardiovascular health, with various components of the exposome having been implicated in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease.

Residents living in a "food desert" are known to be at a higher risk for developing cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, national-level data regarding the influence of residing in a food desert in patients with established CVD is lacking. Data from veterans with established atherosclerotic CVD who received outpatient care in the Veterans Health Administration system between January 2016 and December 2021 were obtained, with follow-up information collected until May 2022 (median follow-up: 4.

Neighborhood walkability may be associated with increased physical activity and thus may confer protection against cardiovascular disease and associated risk factors. We sought to characterize the association between neighborhood-level cardiovascular diseases and risk factors with neighborhood walkability across US census tracts. We linked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) PLACES dataset which provided census-tract level prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) and cardiovascular risk factors (hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes), with census tract population-weighted national walkability index (NWI) from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Objective: To determine the variability in county cardiovascular (CV) premature mortality explained by integrated metrics of socioeconomic deprivation and to explore temporal trends in CV mortality by county socioeconomic deprivation.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional analysis of US county-level death certificate data from 1999 to 2018 of age-adjusted premature (25 to 64 years) CV mortality. Integrated metrics of socioeconomic deprivation (Social Deprivation Index [SDI] and county Area Deprivation Index [ADI]) were associated with mortality using linear regression analysis.

Background Cardiac diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (cDLBCL) is an extremely rare disease. Introduction of rituximab has significantly improved survival in non-cardiac DLBCL, but there is limited data regarding the effects on outcomes in cDLBCL. We sought to evaluate the outcomes of cDLBCL in both pre- and rituximab eras.

Objective: Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD) is a rare non-atherosclerotic non-inflammatory vascular disease associated with arterial aneurysms and dissections. The epidemiology of FMD is not well understood. We sought to characterize the epidemiology of FMD utilizing a large aggregated electronic medical record database.

Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). There is a need for novel biomarkers to reliably and accurately predict AF in this population. High-sensitivity troponin (HsTP) allows the detection of low troponin concentrations.
