Lymphoma is the most common neoplasia in the intestine of cats. According to ACVIM consensus statement, low-grade intestinal T-cell lymphoma (LGITCL) represents a monomorphic infiltration of the lamina propria or epithelium or both of cats with small, mature, neoplastic (clonal) T lymphocytes. Despite the importance as contributing factors of inheritance and environment in the pathogenesis of LGITCL, the chronic inflammatory status plays a fundamental role.

Department of Chemistry, University of Richmond, Gottwald Science Center, B-100 138 UR Drive, Richmond, VA 23173, United States. Electronic address:

We report the development of a new electron-rich aniline (ERA)-based cleavable linker. Anilines can be incorporated into peptides during SPPS and are stable to most reaction conditions. ERA-containing peptides can be cleaved rapidly in the presence of oxidants, such as DDQ, CAN, and NaIO, in 30 min at room temperature.

Background: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, is characterized as a multisystem disease, potentially yielding multifaceted consequences on various organs at multiple levels. At the end of 2022, over 90% of the Chinese population was infected by SARS-CoV-2 within 35 days because of adjustments to epidemic prevention and control policies. This short-term change provides an unprecedented opportunity for comparative studies on COVID-19 infection among large populations.

A valid novel ground reaction force distribution algorithm to determine midfoot kinetics of gait with a single force plate.

Gait Posture

December 2024

Marquette University, 1250 W. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53233, United States; Shriners Children's Chicago, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60707, United States.

Background: Understanding midfoot joint kinetics is valuable for improved treatment of foot pathologies. Segmental foot kinetics cannot currently be obtained in a standard gait lab without the use of multiple force plates or a pedobarographic plate overlaid with a force plate due to the single ground reaction force (GRF) vector.

Research Question: Can an algorithm be created to distribute the GRF into multiple segmental vectors that will allow for calculation of accurate midfoot and ankle moments?

Methods: 20 pediatric subjects (10 typically developing, 10 with foot pathology) underwent multi-segment foot gait analysis using the Milwaukee Foot Model.

Introduction: Fungal keratitis is a leading cause of corneal blindness, with current antifungal treatments having limited efficacy. One promising treatment modality is Rose Bengal (RB) photodynamic antimicrobial therapy (PDAT) that has shown mixed success against fungal keratitis. Therefore, there is a need to explore the antimicrobial efficacy of other green-light activated photosensitizers that have deep penetration in the cornea to combat the deep fungal infections, such as Erythrosin B (EB) and Eosin Y (EY).

Articular cartilage and osteochondral defect repair and regeneration presents significant challenges to the field of tissue engineering (TE). TE and regenerative medicine strategies utilizing natural and synthetic-based engineered scaffolds have shown potential for repair, however, they face limitations in replicating the intricate native microenvironment and structure to achieve optimal regenerative capacity and functional recovery. Herein, we report the development of a cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) as a printable biomaterial for tissue regeneration.

Background: For women at low risk of complications during labour and birth, in the United Kingdom, planned birth in a 'community' setting (at home or a freestanding midwifery unit) is generally safe, and intrapartum emergencies are uncommon. Limited exposure may affect midwives' experience of managing an emergency.

Aim: Identify and synthesise available evidence about midwives' experiences of managing intrapartum emergencies during labour in a community setting.

Surface induced crystallization/amorphization of phase change materials.

Nanotechnology

January 2025

MME, Wright State University, 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy, Lake Campus, 7600 Lake Drive, Lake Campus, Fairborn, Ohio, 45435, UNITED STATES.

Surface induced crystallization/amorphization of a Germanium-antimony-tellurium (GST) nanolayer is investigated using the phase field model. A Ginzburg-Landau (GL) equation introduces an external surface layer (ESL) within which the surface energy and elastic properties are properly distributed. Next, the coupled GL and elasticity equations for the crystallization/amorphization are solved.

Objective: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an effective neurosurgical option for patients with treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Despite being more costly than neuroablative procedures of comparable efficacy, DBS has gained popularity over the years for its reversibility and adjustability. Although the cost-effectiveness of DBS has been investigated extensively in movement disorders, few economic analyses of DBS for psychiatric disorders exist.

Precise Synthesis of 4.75 V-Tolerant LiCoO with Homogeneous Delithiation and Reduced Internal Strain.

J Am Chem Soc

January 2025

College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Artificial Functional Materials, National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures, Collaborative Innovation Centre of Advanced Microstructures, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210093, P. R. China.

The rapid advancements in 3C electronic devices necessitate an increase in the charge cutoff voltage of LiCoO to unlock a higher energy density that surpasses the currently available levels. However, the structural devastation and electrochemical decay of LiCoO are significantly exacerbated, particularly at ≥4.5 V, due to the stress concentration caused by more severe lattice expansion and shrinkage, coupled with heterogeneous Li intercalation/deintercalation reactions.

Self-organization under out-of-equilibrium conditions is ubiquitous in natural systems for the generation of hierarchical solid-state patterns of complex structures with intricate properties. Efforts in applying this strategy to synthetic materials that mimic biological function have resulted in remarkable demonstrations of programmable self-healing and adaptive materials. However, the extension of these efforts to multifunctional stimuli-responsive solid-state materials across defined spatial distributions remains an unrealized technological opportunity.

The death and clearance of nurse cells is a consequential milestone in Drosophila melanogaster oogenesis. In preparation for oviposition, the germline-derived nurse cells bequeath to the developing oocyte all their cytoplasmic contents and undergo programmed cell death. The death of the nurse cells is controlled non-autonomously and is precipitated by epithelial follicle cells of somatic origin acquiring a squamous morphology and acidifying the nurse cells externally.

The supramolecular binding exclusively by H-bonds of SeO, MoO and WO ions to form nanojars of the formula [EO⊂{-Cu(μ-OH)(μ-pz)}] (; E = Se, Mo, W; = 28-34; pz = pyrazolate) was studied in solution by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, variable temperature, paramagnetic H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy, and in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. These large anions allow for the observation of a record nanojar size, (E = Mo, W). Six crystal structures are described of nanojars of varying sizes with either SeO, MoO or WO entrapped ions, including the first example of a cocrystal of two different nanojars in crystallographically unique positions, and .
