The experiences of attending an international veteran sporting competition and preparatory camp for Team Ukraine during the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.

Introduction: This article offers unique insight into Team Ukraine's experiences of attending an international sporting event for veterans living with disability and injured active-duty personnel (the United States' Department of Defense Warrior Games, "The Games") and a 5-week preparatory camp in the United Kingdom (UK).

Methods: A survey gathered qualitative data at three time points: during the second and final week of training camp, and the in the two weeks immediately following participation at The Games. Forty-four out of 55 members of Team Ukraine (including veterans, active-duty personnel, support staff, and family members) provided responses in Survey 1, 20 in Survey 2, and 18 in Survey 3.

We recently reported on the imiditides, a new RiPP family in which aspartimidylation is the class-defining modification. Imiditide biosynthetic gene clusters encode a precursor protein and a methyltransferase that methylates a specific Asp residue, converting it to aspartimide.

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) display a variety of core and co-occurring difficulties in social, communication, everyday functioning, cognitive, motor, and language domains. Receiving a combination of services to accommodate needs of autistic individuals is essential for improving their future outcomes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, reduced service access negatively impacted autistic children's outcomes.

Cerebral vascular deposition of the amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide, a condition known as cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), is associated with intracerebral hemorrhaging and contributes to disease progression in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and vascular cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID). Familial mutations at positions 22 and 23 within the Aβ peptide lead to early onset and severe CAA pathology. Here, we evaluate the effects of fibrillar Aβ peptides on the viability of primary-cultured human cerebral smooth muscle (HCSM) cells, which are the major site of amyloid deposition in cerebral blood vessel walls.

Background: Gastric dysmotility and gastric slow wave dysrhythmias have been well documented in patients with diabetes. Wheat is an important cereal crop globally and in the United States, and is the largest crop grown by acreage in Colorado. In June 2023, we observed wheat fields displaying severe yellowing and virus-like disease symptoms in plants across seven eastern Colorado counties (Yuma, Prowers, Kit Carson, Washington, Sedgewick, Morgan, and Weld). Symptomatic plants were prominent in fields and appeared bright yellow, with ringspots, mosaic patterning, and streaking on leaves.

Resistance to propiconazole in G. candidum was reported previously in isolates collected from peaches after cold storage, but the origin of resistance was unclear. If resistance had been generated and selected in the packinghouse with postharvest propiconazole drenches, we would expect to find resistance in the sour rot pathogen only in orchards that had received cull fruit returned to the orchard floor from the packinghouse.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of Families Addressing Cancer Together (FACT), a web-based, individually tailored, psychoeducational intervention for parents with cancer to improve illness-related communication with their minor children.

Methods: Parents with stage I-IV solid tumors who had children ages 3-17 were randomized to 6 weeks of FACT versus waitlist control. Feasibility was assessed by rates of recruitment and retention.
