Alkyne- and alkene-tethered acyl fluorides undergo intramolecular carbofluorination via fluoride recycling using catalytic TrBF. Excellent stereoselectivity is observed for the alkyne addition, enabling access to novel fluorinated indan-2-ones (all ≥95:5 /) and cyclopentan-2-ones (85:15 /). Fluorinated chroman-2-ones and tertiary alkyl fluorides can also be synthesized using this method, comparing favorably to previously reported protocols that employ expensive metal catalysts under harsher conditions.

Computationally designed 29-residue peptides yield tetra-α-helical bundles with symmetry. The "bundlemers" can be bifunctionally linked via thiol-maleimide cross-links at their N-termini, yielding supramolecular polymers with unusually large, micrometer-scale persistence lengths. Local health departments can play a critical role in zoonoses surveillance at the human-domestic animal interface, especially when existing public health services and close relationships with community groups can be leveraged. Investigators at Harris County Veterinary Public Health employed a community-based surveillance tool for identifying severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections in dogs and cats in June--December 2021. SiO-Mediated Hydrothermal Synthesis of Spiroffite-Type CoTeO.

The hydrothermal synthesis of novel materials typically relies on both knowledge of the redox activities of all cations present in the reaction solution and a small toolset of so-called mineralizers to tune the solution's overall chemical potential. Upon the use of a less conventional mineralizer species, SiO, we show the stabilization of spiroffite-type CoTeO under less forceful hydrothermal conditions than those in previous reports. When synthesized in the presence of both SiO and each respective alkali carbonate as a secondary mineralizer, silicon substitution in place of tellurium in the host structure becomes apparent, and the corresponding disorder introduced gives rise to enhanced low-temperature ferromagnetism.

Purpose: Receptor CUB-domain containing- protein 1 (CDCP1) was evaluated as a target for detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Experimental Design: CDCP1 expression was assessed immunohistochemically in tumors from 423 patients (119 triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC); 75 HER2+; 229 ER+/HER2- including 228 primary tumors, 229 lymph node and 47 distant metastases). Cell cytotoxicity induced in vitro by a CDCP1-targeting antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), consisting of the human/mouse chimeric antibody ch10D7 and the microtubule disruptor monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE), was quantified, including in combination with HER2-targeting ADC T-DM1.
